I think these look amazing in any light! Not just flash. Almost all of the lights in my house show off the reflective beauty. Removal honestly isn't any more difficult than any other glitter, in my opinion. I definitely love this trend more than the sheer polish trend, which isn't usually flattering on anyone who doesn't have short nails. Just my thoughts ;)
I love reflective glitter and I can see a drastic shift, when moving my hand through the sun. They really need certain angles, but that is part of the fun for me.... pretty glitter in most lighting and suddenly reflection action...
Same here. I don't understand when people say it only looks reflective with flash. I see the reflective all the time in different lighting situations and it's so magical. Maybe we have different eyes or something.
Thanks for the great swatches. I love how you captured the shifts. My favorite thing about reflective polish is what you have captured right before showing them with the flash…”the twinkle”. I honestly love that more than the bright glow of the flash. I have a few on my nightstand and even with low lighting on my room I can see them “twinkling”. Loving the shades “Mask me Again” and “Novel Idea”. I think it’s the combo of shifts and twinkles that get me!
I’m with you. ENOUGH with the reflective glitter. They only look cool with a flash on them but you’re so right they don’t look like that in real life. I had a mystery from BKL and that told me everything I needed to know about reflectives. I’m so ready for the next trend.
Reflective is still a lot prettier than regular glitter polish in my opinion. Even without the flash it still sparkles and catches the sunlight gorgeously. Kb shimmer has some of the best
I mean it does have a nice shimmer under sunlight or regular lights but the trends I do miss *a lot* are solar & multi chromatic polish. I already have a ton of holographic nail polish, but I really prefer holo flakies or very fine holo glitter than the usual chunky glitter with texture.
Fancy gloss has a twinkle collection!!!! I love reflective however if they didn't sparkle in regular light I too would be over them but the sparkle in natural light is so pretty!!!
I’ve seen so many swatch videos for this collection so far, but I like yours the best! Your swatches really show the full range of how pretty these are. I’ll probably get the whole collection XD
Thank you for explaining the phenomenon of seeing the reflective glitter through the camera screen and not the naked eye. I thought I was doing something wrong this whole time trying to see the flash 😅
I cannot thank you enough for this video, I struggled so much with the attitude of these polishes I started to doubt my capabilities or wondered if my polishes were exposed for too long in hot and humid conditions on their way to me. Again thanks so much as you were the only creator I came across who bothered to mention this ❤️

I think the reflective glitters will do their thing if you bike ride/walk/jog in the evening and a car drives by. Or a party in the dark when a flash picture is taken. But it is definitely a novelty/ party trick. These look cool even when they aren't reflective, so that's cool!
I don't care about the flash reactive polishes that are just one color, but the color combinations in this collection have me drooling... Just the way the larger "twinkle" glitters contrast against the fine shimmer colors is so beautiful! Thanks for showing them in different lighting!
Yessssssss!! Holo flakes instead of reflective glitter would have killed me and I'd have grabbed the whole collection! I'm not big into the reflective glitter but the base + shimmer in Mask Me Again was too much for me to resist. Because no polish should travel alone I also picked up Drawn To You (but now I'm regretting not choosing Novel Idea instead).
Glad we are on the same page haha. Those are great choices - reflective glitter or not! Drawn To You is also one of my top picks so I think you’ll like it a lot.
They would be pretty, but that has definitely been overdone as well. There are SO many collections out there with holo/flakie finishes in different colours.
I really like the combo of contrasting, shifty shimmer with twinkling reflective glitter. I have 5 favorites. There's a Nap for That, Lounging Around, Of Quartz, Love You Brunches and I Knead You Now.
You’re the first reviewer I’ve ever seen who has said that the reflective effect is only seen through a camera. Why does nobody else mention that? Thank you because you’ve just saved me $$$ that I can now spend on a future trend that is more my style!
Oh I am so glad to hear that! Ya... it's SUPER misleading if people don't state that in their reviews so I'm glad you watched my video. They aren't worth the money unless you know what you're signing up for.
I've already purchased the 3 very pale green, blue and pink ones as the others I've purchased are more winter shades, and these really do look nice in bright sunshine, not only when you have a flash on them, but after these, I really am done with reflectives 😀👍
I’ve been hesitant to get into reflective polishes because they didn’t seem worth the novelty, but these are really pretty in all lighting situations with the contrasting shimmers! I may pick up a few, I’m a big KBshimmer fan.
I ordered two of these polishes (the swampy green and "Novel Idea") and the top coats. I don't mind that they're only crazy reflective under a phone - I am enjoying that they're a fine, not-in-your-face glitter. I bought a few of the Bow glitters about two months ago, and I'm actually wearing some today. I don't like big chunky glitters, so to me, these are pretty, subtle gold sparkle on my nails. The texture doesn't bother me, either. I get that they're not everybody's thing. And if it's the gimmick of the super-reflectiveness you're going for, I'm glad you're explaining to people that the ONLY way they'll get that is with the phone flash. But the ones I have from Bow are a really nice spring-feeling sparkle and I'm looking forward to trying these polishes.
I’ll have to take a look at the Bow. They sound pretty. And you will love the two you’ve chosen from this collection. Despite my critique, they’re lovely polishes!
I bought a few reflective glitter toppers a while back from Krisable Designs and now look at every polish and go 'i can dupe that' lol. I do like some of the reflective polishes, but only some really selective formulas. I believe Bow polish has some two-colored ones and I've seen BKL make one with blue that I haven't seen anyone else use. But I'm with y'all on this one, definitely over it.
I really like some of these colors. Especially with the polishes in this video where you didn’t go out of your polishing spot (most of them), I think you did a better job of showing off the reflective glitter sparkle in your BKL Lore Olympus collection video. The shot you captured of them in your hallway lighting caught the naked-eye sparkle really well. They’re not as dull as your swatching area regular light suggests. Also - did you find these more textured than other reflective glitters?
Like someone else mentioned, this trend reminds me Zoya's Pixie Dusts which I love. But even I am ready for brands to move on. I got the original three that KB Shimmer released and I haven't even tried those yet 😂
I have all kbshimmers reflective polishes that are not polish pickup. That twinkle. I wanted the black, I love the shifty shimmer like in this collection and Tapped out and my daughter loves all things pink so we got all that glimmers. Not my favourite formula from them, but that twinkle! These shifty shimmers though!
@@CaitlinSwatches shifty shimmers is something indies seem to do best. And they've become a new obsession. That and flakies like your end card (which isn't available anymore) and WFL Mudita
I am convinced to try reflective glitter after seeing these. I noticed there were alot on last month's PPU, but these soft, shifty shades are really speaking to me. I need your help! You didn't mention your favorites like you usually do. I am for sure getting OF Quartz and I want 1 or 2 more. What are your favorites if you could only choose 3? Thanks Caitlin!! I love your videos!!
Haha o the almighty reflective glitter that is taking over our nail polish world. I have said it many times now, few is ok, all is not! Just like in life, everything in moderation. I have couple, third on its way, maybe grab one or two more if someone makes a fun and vibrant color for summer, but that is it!!! LOVE KBShimmer but making whole collection of r.g. is big miss on the makers part. Thank you so much for your great review!
I agree this collection is gorgeous, except for the reflective glitters. I'm not a fan and am avoiding them completely, aside from one I picked up by mistake. Thankfully the effect is very subtle, so I think I'll still enjoy it. Even if I did like that finish, it's all a little overwhelming coming at once. But, like others, my wallet isn't complaining when so many new collections and monthly shop items auto-disqualify themselves!
It is a nice collection! I have a few reflective polishes from different brands, and they have their place in the market. I think the only reflective polish I do like is KBShimmer's "After Midnight" because I think it looks good in different lighting situations and without needing flash. ✨🌌 Other than that I'm not a big fan of them either, but I can see how they would suit someone who likes polishes to be more muted/tinted grey without any flash. I'm probably also in the minority of lacquer lovers, in that I don't mind a little bit of texture (when it's intentional). 😄 Massive chunks of glitter aren't for me, but I actually quite like the OG Zoya PixieDust formula because they're like velvety soft sand... it took me a while to get on board, but after regular use I actually grew to enjoy them. Peel-off base is an absolute must for me, because removal of all of these polishes is a pain lol.
If it weren’t for the removal I might like them more too. And sadly peel off base just pops off on me. I don’t have time to scrub off my polish when I want to change my mani! Thanks for watching
@@CaitlinSwatches Oh of course, thanks for making the vids! Sorry to hear that peel-off base is not an option you can use. A friend of mine has the same issue where it pops off within 2 hours of drying. It sucks for sure.
Okay, so reflective glitter is sometimes awesome and sometimes meh… I got Sunflowers from BKL and I love it, it was gorgeous and brilliant in the sun, pretty inside, too. I only have a few reflective glitter polishes, and they’re all by BKL and their formula is perfect, but some of my other friends who have other brands with reflective glitter say that they feel too thick and are a pain to remove… so I’m on the fence. Shimmers are my go-to, anything sparkly is good for me!
I have tried the BKL reflective glitters and their formula is a whole different story. I think they’re one of the only brands getting it right so your assessment is correct! Sadly they are just too thick in these polishes and it’s not worth the effort. I’m a shimmer gal through and through. And maybe holo flakes lol
I’ll be passing on these polishes. They are just like the Zoya Pixie Dust polishes that were a “thing” several years ago. Very pretty but too much of a pain to remove even when letting remover sit on the nail for several minutes. This fad will pass too… Thanks for the close up views on the video. Extremely helpful. 😊
@@CaitlinSwatches yes, I agree. Wish KBS would have released a set of these colors without the glitter in conjunction with the glitter ones. Would have been nice to have a choice.
As always, beautiful swatches! I'm not a fan of reflective glitter as well. I don't really understand the fascination with them, especially considering we don't carry flashlights in our pockets to shine on them. I also don't like the feel of textured polishes. They make me squeamish 😝 Although the KBShimmer collection is quite beautiful, I'll be passing on it.
I feel you on the squeamishness. It reminds me a bit of sandpaper and with short nails I don’t like too much top coat because it makes my nails look so thick and chunky.
I've avoided the reflective glitters because an effect I can only see through a phone wasn't appealing to me. Lack of interest has been good for my wallet. I broke for Lounging Around, but it looked like a fun summer glitter without the phone flash so I don't think that totally counts lol. The whole concept is way overdone at this point. Polishes here and there was okay for a few months, but now we're getting entire collections and March PPU seemed like it was 80% reflective. Makers, the market is saturated! Please move on😋
I feel the same way about flakies. They are everywhere, and the trend has stuck around for years at this point. I feel like most of the PPU shades look the same nowadays, strangely enough since they are Indies, because every maker seems to throw a handful of flakies in every polish. I have a few bottles, but I never liked the trend so much that I over bought. (I do enjoy the flash reflective pigment trend, but I only have a few.)
I am ready for the 15 minutes to be over too! I get the excitement of a new polish element but I would love if it wasn’t in EVERYTHING. Thanks for watching!
I ordered Novel idea today. I don't really care about the reflecting aspect to tell you the truth. I prefer them without. My only worry is that I would need to use them with a peal off base. They seem they'd be a nightmare to remove otherwise.
I can't be the only person who wants to go outside at night and see if they catch the light from headlights like the reflective strips on cycling jackets, am I?
I'm waaaaay over reflective glitter. there's a few standouts like xoxo from colores de carol, but totally not worth it in my opinion. I think a lot of people buy them thinking they sparkle like that all the time!
Great theme, bad timing for me personally. I'm tired of lounging around by force because of the pandemic -- I'm more than ready to get back into real life again!! The name Mask Me Again is very triggering for me -- instead of a facial treatment mask, I think of wearing the dang mask against Covid. But I do like a couple of these, and my plan (due to the texture and viscosity) is to wear one coat over a similar colored coat of a creme polish. I don't usually like textured polishes, but somehow these shades when completely dry remind me of a sugared gumdrop. I may wear them both ways: with glitter smoothing topcoat and/or untopped, with plenty of grit.
I love how much you HATE reflective glitters! 😂😂 I hate texture, but that twinkly effect in the sun is a trap! I am now the questioning owner of a few untried reflective glitters. Oops! ... and I'm living for Of Quartz.
LOL Is it that obvious?? I just feel like it's gimmicky. And there are other polishes that can give a similar or nicer effect without the texture or thickness. But I actually do love Of Quartz and wish it had holo flakes instead of reflective glitter.
I unfortunately love how reflectives look a lot but mainly just in regular lighting. I actually hate how they look under flash through the camera😅too gimmicky to me anyway.
I think it’s awesome if you like how they look in regular lighting. That’s how they will look 99.9% of the time anyway. I always feel bad hating on something haha. But I do think they have their place in the nail world and these ones are lovely with the shimmer.
I am in the minority who like the velvety effect of the reflective polishes under normal to low lighting… that being said, I don’t like how difficult it is to remove cause it’s a glitter after all, and I’m so ready for the trend to be over. 🥺
@@CaitlinSwatches a few of my nails are peeling from the roots from cuticle pusher accident and I don’t dare to put glitter on them 😭😭 Straight creams will do for now… speaking of which, I’m reaaally missing Cirque’s Metropolis collections, been hoping they would continue releasing more of that line. Miss a good o’ quality crème 🥺
I am already tired of this trend. I have a few and really don't like wearing them as they are a bear to take off. I know I won't be buying anymore, and may actually destash the four I have. It was a let down to see so many of the PPU offerings for March were all reflectives, I feel like it's time to move on from this trend.

@@CaitlinSwatches Yup. I can't even stand it if my bare nails snag on my clothes *shivers*
@@CaitlinSwatches Exactly! Treat it like a thermal or a magnetic. They're a fun extra, not entire collections.
I totally agree with enough of the reflective glitter!!!
I ordered Novel idea today. I don't really care about the reflecting aspect to tell you the truth. I prefer them without. My only worry is that I would need to use them with a peal off base. They seem they'd be a nightmare to remove otherwise.
Yes they are such a pain to remove!
@@CaitlinSwatches 😕. Oh well...(preparing peel off base for when the nail polish arrives in the mail) 😝
I can't be the only person who wants to go outside at night and see if they catch the light from headlights like the reflective strips on cycling jackets, am I?
If you do it... be careful!!! LOL
I'm waaaaay over reflective glitter. there's a few standouts like xoxo from colores de carol, but totally not worth it in my opinion. I think a lot of people buy them thinking they sparkle like that all the time!
Agree. I think those pictures can be misleading. Hopefully we will be seeing less reflective glitters soon.
The sugared gumdrop is a very great description. Definitely gives some versatility of use! Enjoy whichever you pick up.
@@CaitlinSwatches At least it’ll save you from buying up all the ones coming out lately😆My wallet hasn’t felt safe
Haha that’s true! But at least your nails will be so sparkly!
I am in the minority who like the velvety effect of the reflective polishes under normal to low lighting… that being said, I don’t like how difficult it is to remove cause it’s a glitter after all, and I’m so ready for the trend to be over. 🥺
Yes the removal is such a pain sadly. I think I’d be a bit more okay with them if they were easy to remove.
I’m so done with reflective glitter.
Same lol
I am already tired of this trend. I have a few and really don't like wearing them as they are a bear to take off. I know I won't be buying anymore, and may actually destash the four I have. It was a let down to see so many of the PPU offerings for March were all reflectives, I feel like it's time to move on from this trend.
Preach. I am feeling the same!
