    I saw it last night. It's not great. It's overhyped for sure. It's not scary at all and it's actually somewhat boring. It's 1.5 hours and it feels like it's 2.5 hours. It feels like a proof of concept that you'd show an investor rather than a fleshed out well produced movie.
    My entire audience was laughing the entire movie. Idk if they intended it to be funny, but it was tongue in cheek slasher humor, like a B movie. I had a great time watching it with people but it's not a movie I'd watch again more than once or twice.

    I liked everything about it except not showing that first kill & the monologue into a nothing ending, the ranger said giving the locket back won't do anything.

    So, with no soundtrack and just following this killer, do you hear the camera man following him through the woods? How do they remove the sound of the camera person?

      Have you ever watched any of the old slasher films? The characters and dialogue is very much an ode to them.
      I think they took it a little too far but it didn’t take away from the experience.

    One certainly awesome and some good kills can't carry the movie through its runtime. I was with it to some degree. But it all falls apart with that awful ending section which looked like a reshoot to get it to 90 minutes. And yet it felt longer than T2 with its 138 minutes. The concept is good. But the execution is only working to a small degree. Shooting it 4:3 does not make it immediately Arthouse.

    Loved it! I thought about the ending sequence with my wife last night after watching it. That last 10 minutes or so have the final girl chatting with the woman in the truck and we had this gnawing feeling something terrible was going to happen. My wife and I had this conclusion that we spent the whole movie comforted knowing where the killer was and was doing. When they took it away at the end I was ANXIOUS and appreciated the end a lot more.

      @@kill3rs529 in my defense I did start my rant mentioning my thoughts on the final sequence which should’ve been a warning and also it doesn’t quite give away what happens. Apologize though that, I’ll be more careful in the future.

    • @wizard101pro777
      @wizard101pro777 3 месяца назад

      @@EM80_Reviews my interpretation is that the ending is supposed to be them revoking the knowledge of where the killer is. Like hey wasn’t it nice knowing where he was? I had this anxiety that one of them would die any second and it teases that.

      Don’t worry about spoiling anything…you kept it vague. You also did what I think the movie’s creators intended…pondered the ending and I came to the same conclusion you and your wife did.
      The way you feel watching it is almost a way to portray how thaf survivor will feel for the rest of her life.

    Maaan I LOVED this! The way they managed to offset the serenity of nature with the intense, eerie silence as the killer lurked was amazing! The camerawork was beautiful and the kills were insane. Yeah totally no plot but eh, I can let that slide because everything else was so good. Went to see it with my buddy and we were both impressed. The ending got us thinking. 8/10

    Yes, the kills were worth the price of admission, but the all victims were annoying af (which made their deaths quite satisfying). The acting all around was kinda cringe. The biggest negative is the last 10 minutes which was lame, poorly acted and unnecessary. Left a bad taste.

  • @21stcenturyhiphop

    This was a mixed bag. It was a lot more tongue-in-cheek than i expected, and the first thirty to forty minutes worked for me, but it felt like it ran out of steam after a while. I hate to base my reaction to a film on what i wanted, or what i would have done, but i think what would have worked better is if the movie would have been a one continuous take type of film. I think this would have solved some of the pacing issues, but would have still stayed true to the premise. They should have committed more to the premise, if that makes any sense.
    The last close up shot of the final girl made her look gorgeous; that girl is a star in the making.

    My heart is truly broken. I have been waiting for this for awhile now. I saw the trailer a long time ago, and then found out it may come to Shudder a week after Late Night with the Devil. Then a postponement and now another? I don't go to theaters anymore. 😞 The trailer reminded me of the old Jason video game I used to play. Darn it!

    • @dieselbaby
      @dieselbaby 3 месяца назад +2

      Why not go see it in theaters? Movies in the theater are still a superior experience to watching them at home IMO, especially if you've been waiting to see this. Late Night with the Devil was pretty good btw, downloaded it a few weeks ago and it mostly lived up to expectations.

    • @jbjacobs9514
      @jbjacobs9514 3 месяца назад

      @@dieselbaby I had a few problems with LNWTD, but I loved it overall. I made a decision after 2016 summer that I would no longer go to theaters. Too many kids, too many people that can't sit still or shut up, kicking seats, too many people on their phones and the darn blue glare constantly (no matter what showing, day, time, what theater, what state I am in). It's just not a productive use of my time anymore - I get headaches when I go, and it is often too hot. I got used to having closed captions at home, and rewind/FF. I miss some aspects of theater viewings because if you knew me as a kid, teen, or early adulthood, and beyond in the 70s, 80s, 90s, I LIVED in the theaters. I would sit through 2 or even one time 3 movies. I would go several times a week. But no more. COVID made it worse. Just not for me. I agree with you about the experience on a big screen, sound, especially a quality screen. But just not worth what I have to go through - not to mention price and either smuggling in food/drinks or buying. Not to mention travel to/from for me.

    Idk what to think of it yet. I wanna watch on shudder when it's released. I saw it in theaters last night.. It was definitely a fun time.. But the real test is watching it @ home & seeing if I feel the same.. One of the best kills I've ever seen that rely mostly on practical effect.. Maaan that yoga scene looks too real.. I said out loud in the theaters "Gaaawd damn!" Lmao. I have a feeling in 10 years this will be a cult classic

    I appreciate director for movie's gimmick.
    I was fine with it it's being "slow and boring", it was intruiging.
    Sequences like the lake kill are very cool, and intense, even though so uneventfull.
    I like slow stuff, Ghost Story for example, with a sequnce in which depressed lady eats a cake for 45 minutes ;)
    But I need to like the characters.
    Even if they have 5 minutes of screen time in total.
    And In Violent Nature with it's ambitions (I guess?) to be experimental/art house cinema has very dull dialogue and characters.
    Sure, kills are cool, but I am that type who will always choose interesting characters/story over the crazy gore ;)
    Cheers guys!

    Did not enjoy this movie. No suspense, mediocre kills (even that one was only ok due to terribly acted victim reaction), horrible final act. There is a decent short that could be distilled from this 90 minute slog.
