The actual sound of a vhs tape playing in a vcr, plus the hiss emitted from the tv speakers has to be one of the most comforting sounds I know of.

This might sound odd. But lucky you. I live where its always warm. I would think it would be nice to settle in for the night and watch this and other videos.
For me, in the 80’s, I felt innocent and protected.

My wife’s stepdad is in one of these commercials. 😊 He was a writer and actor in the Bay Area in the 80s and 90s.

Thanks for all the recent uploads Dave, and yes I did notice that Apple IIe in the Bug Away ad 😅 which meant that was an upper middle class home given how expensive an Apple IIe was back then, and I was lucky I had a rich uncle who game me one as a gift a couple years after these ads air in 84/85, so I grew up with the Apple IIe, the Commodore Vic-20, C64, C64C, and C128 before moving to a PC clone in the early 90's.

The Irony.. I Can't stand watching commercials now, but I absolutely love watching these 80s commercials 😏 go figure😁
Other half Steve says the lo-fi sound quality is because this was recorded on 6 hour speed. VHS recorders could be set to 2, 4 or 6 hours and quality was compromised the higher the setting.

Missing Pieces wouldve been much better if it were a Bewitched movie..
It looks like an Apple IIe with the optional monitor stand, and an AMDEK Color-I Monitor, so yeah in 84 to have an Apple II meant you came from an upper middle class home as it would run you just over $1400($4,391.05 as of Dec 2023) with no options like Disk drives, or the AMDEK monitor in 84 when these commericals were released, which was just over a year after the Apple IIe came out in January 83.
Great set! Looked up some of the addresses for the car dealership and they have since been long gone! lol one is an am/pm gas station and the other looks like what was left of the dealership just another building or it was repurposed,

Please tell me this has the ADA PSA "this is an apple and this is an apple". I had that on tape when my mom recorded "Garfield: His 9 Lives" on CBS. Used to rewind that PSA cause of the tingles and my brother would get annoyed lol

What are these comments? It's muddy audio. Clean the tape head on your VCR, you have to do it for old tapes. Then run it through a audio mixer and adjust mids and trebs. Aren't you archiving? I love your channel, you gotta do it. This ASMR thing. NO.
These asmr sets aren’t for everyone but I enjoy them. Great for playing in the background for some r/r. I purposely retooled the audio to make it sound that way for that reason :) it’s not for everyone but enjoy how they came out
