the pipes actually have armor but i dont think that stops any other mobile suits from ripping it off though they do seem to do the trick against other low grade enemy munition (as far as ive seen)
The issue is that the Zaku was one of the most resiliant and robust Mobile Suits, and the first to hit military scale mass-production. People just ain't gonna have time to yank at tubing because their first thought is going to be "Oh god there's three of them"
I had to check, but there is a minor difference between this version and the Char's custom being that his is a S-type. There are some extra thrusters on the back of the legs, but the fact it doesn't come with a bazooka still makes for a hard buy unless you're a stickler for accuracy with your gunpla.
You're right, the backpack is even different. Man, there are far too many variations of the Zaku II to keep track. I only remember the difference between regular and Char's because of the RG line. It's a nice detail though. Great review also, I was always hesitant with its lack of articulation, but it does look imposing just as is.
Ive just ordered my RX-78 and Chars Zaku II. I think they will make for a fun paint and detail with such a large size. I also dont think they will ever be posed while on display. Just standing. Ill save the poses for the master and real grades.
I just thought about something while I was watching this review. For seam lines, you could probably use a dremel on low or a round file to sand off a small gap and use silicone caulk to fill in the seam. Have you ever seen anyone do this? I would like to know if it would work. I might try it myself cause caulk is used for shower doors to hold them in and pretty much sticks to everything. I do some minor home repairs and that's why I thought of it. I would recommend putting on gloves cause that stuff gets everywhere if your not use to working with it. It's just a thought and I think it might be a fast meathod for removing seams.
Ah, this answers my parts separator question, thank you! :D But would you actually want to use the curved bit to remove parts from the runners? I would think that it would damage a lot of the plastic coming off, not to mention collateral damage to parts nearby.
i would get one of those but i can't find any option hfor hands with artikulated fingers. you think a model kit of that size would have many options for detail complexity.
HEY Z.A. are you going to post the custom paint job for your bro with the coffee shop . cause this thing is going to be a sweet canvas for some art. I mean look at all the space for extreme or maybe not extreme details!
Great review! I was planning to get this kit to use it for tutorial videos. I thought the big size would work better on video. So I'm guessing that's what you're using it for? :)
No, not at all. This is 1/48, PG is 1/60 scale. So this is bigger. But this has no inner frame like the PG. PG has a lot more pieces but this actually has more surface detail. Pros and cons honestly because the PG is pretty old now
@@gefehede7783 it's just different. This is big and simple and the perfect grade is still big but not as big, it has many parts, opening hatches and a detailed inner frame
Not what i meant. I should have phrased it better. What i meant was: How big would the "Titan" Zaku be, in fiction, compared to a normal Zaku.; Using the height difference between the 1/144 and the 1/46 as a basis. So in other words: >Standard Zaku's height (17.5m/57.415 ft,) X Unknown Amount = Titan Zaku's height< I'm really bad at working out scale, I need a ruler. >.< I'm just imagining a standard Zaku finding some Federation Mobile Suits (GMs, Balls, etc) so he can introduce them to his massive friend.
Spartan 154 yeah... that's 1/60, this is 1/48. The Banshee is definitely more complicated and close to the same size just cause it's a really big Gundam. But this is clearly the larger scale
@@ZakuAurelius Hi sorry to ask again and for too much trouble. But is the articulation of this and Char Zaku the same? I saw in your Char Zaku review, that can split wider than this. Is it true? Thank you!
@@redhunter3327 the kits are exactly the same other than the bazooka and parts of Char's I mentioned. if you want the bazooka get the green one, if you want char's style (more verniers) then get that one
I've always been impressed with Gundam kit engineering. But I've never liked kits because of its fragility and hollowness. I had the opportunity to buy a huge Gundam and Zuku action figures from Thinkway and Megahouse years ago. They look this this Zaku but is red and stand about 15 inches tall. Big, tall, and heavy. It has battery compartments for the electronic sounds. If you equate heft with quality, than this is it! It's weakness is it doesn't have much panel line details and lacking in extra weapons.
See my Completed Buillds playlist to see the finished product. And maybe take some time to watch a few other videos on my channel first. You may notice that for my reviews I don’t do anything extra to them as the point is to show exactly what you’ll get straight out of the box. ✌️
mega size neo zeong cmon guys let's make the dream real!

The zaku's design seems to be more practical than most gundam designs if you ignore the pipes..
I mean it is a grunt suit after all. It won't have the bells and whistles that you would see in a typical Gundam
And they just look cooler

I like how you managed to sneak in a Big Lebaowski reference when it came to the worth it part.
Build fighters was the first thing that came up on my mind when I saw the mega size Zaku II
i imagining 1/100 or 1/144 scale barbatos using that axe
or even the Gusion Rebake
Damn
Imagine a 1/48 Barbatos
I was more likely thinking of modified the heat hawk as an axe for a MG Zaku Tri Star.
amazingly! was waiting for this, thanks, awesome review answered all doubts i had about megas.
I love the Zaku design, and I’m also into O scale model trains which are 1/48. I wanted a Zaku that’s in scale, and this will certainly do!

I'm surprised you didn't use a HGBF Star Build Strike Gundam for size comparison.
I don't have one.

That's very specific....

yeah, I didn't. I removed the parts the normal way.
Cool, figured as much! :-)
Thanks for clarifying! (^__^)7
I'm planning to get the RX-78-2, my only problem is space and where to display the kit. Hope you do a review for that Zach.
will you be posting any wip vids of this kit? I'd love to see you painting it
yep! plenty of WIP videos!
i would get one of those but i can't find any option hfor hands with artikulated fingers.
you think a model kit of that size would have many options for detail complexity.
I was wondering if these existed, then I just saw it on Hobbytown's website, guess I have another kit to add to the list
Can you compare the 1/48 Zaku machine gun with the 1/144 Thunderbolt Zaku "Big Gun" sniper?
Idea for the commander type head: a High Grade Zaku II with a _massive_ command fin.
Is the mono-eye movable? Old video, I know, but I never actually figured it out.
Yep its moveable but kinda lock a bit when its moved from center to left to right

it looks like a big 1/144 HG zaku :D
It's confusing though looks-wise. Because it has features from both the F type and F2 type.
I wonder if their going to make more from other series..
Doesn't seem so, but I hope so!
i'd like it
Looks very cool. Cant wait to see ur changes to him! Also say, have you seen the no grade 1/60 Wing Zero? Im actually really curious about that one.
Hi! Does this mega size kits got polycaps or plastic grinding plastic? Thanks
Where the heck is the Mega Sized GM II?
Nowhere
yey i have the rx-78 one....just wondering whats your advise on either buying the 1/48 or PG zaku?

ummm sort of!
ZakuAurelius looking forward to whatever it will be! ;)
Isn't there also a Mega-Size RX-78-2?
Yes there is. Also a unicorn destroy mode, age 1 normal and age 2 normal
Does he have a commanders horn?
Yes..he said it right at the beginning
Munnbunns sorry, I must've not heard
So if you were to place this kit in a grade baring the scale what would you say it is? Like is it an HG, or closer to like an RE/100 or MG kit.
Yeah like an RE/100 I guess.
This one is more likely to an old hg kits
Thank you
Would the zaku exceed heads work on this
Not without modification
Zack could you maybe explain how to get rid of those forearm seams?
Jon Yusko go to his gunpla tutorial playlist and look under there.
Yeah, I'll be doing a lot of WIP videos for this kit~ so stay tuned!

The demented Zaku that tries to ruin a Gunpla race in episode 11 of Build Fighters.
If a normal 1/144 Zaku is 17.5m/57.415 ft, how big would this 1/46 Zaku be? Like in that one Build Fighters episode.
a Zaku is about 18m tall, so divide that by 48 and you've got the height of this kit.

No trigger on the gun?
There is. Just no trigger finger looking hand
Hi! I just want to ask, what should i buy? Zaku 2 or Char's Custom.(Mega Size)? My cousin has the Mega Size RX-78-2 BTW. Thank you!

Not very far, and there’s no stand that can hold a kit this size anyway

Nope, I'm from the USA
Mega size Devil Gundam when?
You can make dessert zaku with that commander head
Great idea im also thinking to repaint it grey or white
this is basically a big 1/144 as far as detail and stuff goes
More accurately~ probably like a big RE/100 kit.
its basically an oversozed high grade. you would think that bamdai would give it alot of cool articulation and gimmicks but I guess not.
This is for people who want a really big model but can't afford a perfect grade.
It's not supposed to be complex

gonna get this kit for $35, it feel fair :D
this is how master grades should be. 1/60 or 1/48 with enough space to put small stepper motors and LEDs
