Thank you for taking time to answer my question, it means a lot to me. I’m new to painting I wanted to know if I have to press the trigger all the way down when painting single coat or laying down base coat or clear coat, thank you
It's all personal preference. For base you want it a bit lower 15-25 for clear generally 28-30 depending on gun and type of clear your using. I will adjust my base coat pressure according to temp and color high metallics I perfer the air pressure a bit lower for metallic orientation.
How do you manage to get 30psi at the gun while spraying, especially with the added bulb filter? On mine I'm lucky to get 25psi regulated if I send the full 110psi of tank pressure (20gal/2HP), using 25ft of 3/8" line. I do have a wall-mounted oil+moisture filter in the way, but still...

Yes but you need the one with multiple needle sets I'll leave a link amzn.to/44Be1t2 So this is the same gun just updated version but it comes with a 1.7 tip and needle set an that should be big enough for epoxy.
It's not overkill, this gun will preform Ethier way. You could use any gun with your compressor. Just depends on you needs. Cost, skill level, pro or hobbiest
I think this gun would do just fine. I don't shoot a lot of single stage these days but have in the past with guns that are similar with no problem. Appreciate the comment and support!
Thank you for making this video. I am getting prepared to do my first paint work (hopefully this summer) and I am interested in this gun. The info you share on pressures, spray distance, and speed great. I am curious to know how this gun would fair with laying a drop coat for a metallic paint.
Great video and information. I'm trying to word this question to my best ability. Between what minimum size compressor to the maximum size compressor would this gun be suitable for. Do you have a compressor or compressors in mind that you can recommend? I am planning to try to paint an engine bay soon once the motor is out if not the whole car using a 110 socket at home in my garage. Appreciate any feedback, Thanks.
For this gun you want a compressor that produces 4cfms or above. When buy a compressor for painting a car the cfm it produces is what matters. I always say buy as many cfm's as you can afford. I don't have one to recommend . May have a video in the future for this topic. Hope this helps. Appreciate the support!
I'm using a large Ingersol Rand compressor, so at this time I didn't have a small compressor, since then I have purchased a Harbor freight smaller compressor just for videos. I think it's called a fortress and it works well.
Luv it. Q: Because a lplv gun sprays slower, if I’m doing a full car should I use a slower reducer so I can finish a side before one end begins to flash over/dry?
Hi I’ve just been given a compressor to use to spray my van and it’s got 1.5hp / 6L / 115psi / CFM 7 / FAD 4.5 is the compressor ideal for this spray gun you’re using? Cheers
if you have a compressor say 20 to 30 gal if you have it put out at least 6 to 8 cfms at 40 psi when you turn the pressure down at the gun say 18 to 22 or so you now have double the cfms because you're not going to spray 40 lb at the gun unless you're using a siphon feed gun
Yes, your gun needs the same cfm's but now that you've lowered the air pressure you won't need as much air to keep your gun spraying at peak performance.
@@GarageNoise please run that by me again. I have 70 litre 3.5 hp 290 litre per minute output compressor. The paint I'm going to use requires 35psi, are you saying that I can spray the same paint at say 20psi and it will still spray properly. Thanks in advanced
@@TashaRandom123 if your using base coat / clearcoat. The type of paint you use isn't what requires a certin air pressure. The paint gun is what has air requirements in order to operate efficiently. So as long as you have the right air pressure from the compressor to operate the paint gun then you can spray the paint adjusting the air pressure coming out of the gun to whatever you want. Typically for base it's 15-20psi and for clear around 30psi at the gun. Hope this helps, appreciate the support!
Appreciate advice greatly, I've been trying to set up gun having compressor set at 100 psi and it doesn't maintain pressure very long. First time using spray gun, thanks again
@GarageNoise Question. The LVLP R500 only comes with a 1.3mm nozzle. I am looking to paint my truck. The color is currently GM U 213M. I am planning to go back with that color. The clearcoat has come off in several places. The paint has come off in small pinprick spots. I am planning to sand it down and put primer, paint and then clear. 1. Will the LVLP R500 with its 1.3mm nozzle work for all 3? 2. If not which nozzles should I use for each one? I can purchase 1.5, 1.7 and 2.0 nozzles. 3. Also any primer, paint, and clear recommendations will be greatly appreciated. 4. do I need to sand it down to bare metal everywhere before spraying primer? thanks, Trav
OK, all great questions. Let me tell you the R 500 1.3 tip will work for sealer, base and clear coat perfectly well. Now, if you want to spray primer, depending on how thick the primer is, you're gonna need a 1.5 tip . For a primer surfacer, so that's a thinner primer. not a thick high build primer. Then you might be able to get away with a 1.3. Do you need to strip your truck? I think you said truck, that depends on the condition of your current paint. If the paint is checking or cracking, then you need to take it down to bare metal. If it's just these delaminating, there is a possibility that you could just sand it down and use A 2K urethne primer over top of that. If you want to send me pictures at garagenoise247@gmail.com. I can take a look at the pictures and try and help you out. Appreciate your comment and support!
@GarageNoise finally was able to email you some pics. as you can see it's bad. I'm going to follow your other video on sanding it down to metal. then reprime paint and clear coat.

I have a 60 gal.125psi, 13.5cfm compressor. Would that be over kill for this gun? Or Would you recommend a different gun for my compressor?
It's not overkill, this gun will preform Ethier way.
You could use any gun with your compressor. Just depends on you needs. Cost, skill level, pro or hobbiest
Hi mate I really ❤ your video
👍
Thanks!
Welcome!
eastwood lt100 is currently on sale for 64.97$
👍
Where?
My local store only stocks the UP2882, can you use that as well? What's the biggest different between that and the UP2892 that you mention?
what do you think on using this gun with single stage paint
I think this gun would do just fine. I don't shoot a lot of single stage these days but have in the past with guns that are similar with no problem. Appreciate the comment and support!
What size tips are you using. Thanks
Nice job!!!
👊👍
Thank you for making this video. I am getting prepared to do my first paint work (hopefully this summer) and I am interested in this gun. The info you share on pressures, spray distance, and speed great. I am curious to know how this gun would fair with laying a drop coat for a metallic paint.
I've got a new video on this gun check out the channel. I blend a red pearl
@GarageNoise Will do. Just subbed. I have already found a ton of info I will find useful on the project.
@@MontsweagGarage awesome!
What pps adapter work with this? I have the original pps which works with the harbor freight knock off stuff which is nice if I run out on a weekend.
Not sure of the size but it's a female adapter that i got at harbor freight. I want to say 3/8
@@GarageNoise thank you keep up the good work I’ve painted a dozen cars from learning on your videos
Very nice!👍
Thank you! Appreciate the support!
Thank you
You're welcome
Can get the standard clear and hardener at O'Reilly's for 80$
Yes you can get it at oreillys.
What’s the name of the air compressor you’re using? I seen the gun and the rest of the setup below? Where the budget air compressor?
I'm using a large Ingersol Rand compressor, so at this time I didn't have a small compressor, since then I have purchased a Harbor freight smaller compressor just for videos. I think it's called a fortress and it works well.
@@GarageNoise thank you for the reply
Luv it.
Q: Because a lplv gun sprays slower, if I’m doing a full car should I use a slower reducer so I can finish a side before one end begins to flash over/dry?
Yes, a slow reducer would be the right choice. Unless it's cold when you paint. Your referring to you base coat correct?
Any graph temp guidance with numbers for low, normal and high?
Hi I’ve just been given a compressor to use to spray my van and it’s got 1.5hp / 6L / 115psi / CFM 7 / FAD 4.5 is the compressor ideal for this spray gun you’re using? Cheers
It will work, may have some air fluctuations if painting multiple panel or a full car but should get the job done.
@@GarageNoise yeah i think I may just buy a bigger air compressor like a 50ltr😂 thanks for the reply
Yes Sr
Looks great. Wonder how well it holds up over time. It's been a year. Any feedback on durability?
if you have a compressor say 20 to 30 gal if you have it put out at least 6 to 8 cfms at 40 psi when you turn the pressure down at the gun say 18 to 22 or so you now have double the cfms because you're not going to spray 40 lb at the gun unless you're using a siphon feed gun
Does this advice differ when using a low volume medium pressure gun, thanks again
What air compressor do you use and how many cfm??
My compressor is a ingersoll rand that produces 16 cfm at 90 psi
With the LVLP gun, how much clear are you using on each panel?
Roughly about 6oz
I have a question.... while you are letting the paint flash do you remove the paint from the gun? or can you leave it there?
No need to remove the paint from the gun. Until your done with the project. Appreciate your support!
Do I need a gun adapter for the disposable cup set you have listed in description. And are the adaptors universal?
Yes you do, the adapters are not universal for every gun. I got mine at harbor freight. I think it it the 3/8 female don't quote me tho.
What compressor did u use?
4. do I need to sand it down to bare metal everywhere before spraying primer?
thanks,
Trav
@@GarageNoise Question, assuming that I seal the cans back, how long will the paint, clear coat, and primer last after opening the cans? I am looking at starting my painting project in a couple of weeks. I am wanting to do a section at a time over a couple of weeks, as I think it will be easier for me. Also what do I need to use to clean my gun when switching between paint, clear coat, and primer?
thanks again for your help and all of your instructional videos.
@@GarageNoise well so much for my painting my truck. about 4 weeks ago it was totaled when someone ran a redlight at 65 mph in a 30 mph zone and nailed me in the right front tire. hit me so hard that none of the doors would open. the ac fan box came loose and hit me in the leg. My cell phone went through the front window and landed about 20 feet in front of my truck. I was so looking forward to trying it after watching your videos. My Dad has a 73 Chevy Blazer. the body is still pretty solid, not rust through spots. I'm thinking about doing it when I heal up from the fractured sternum and ribs.
@@travharrell1713 oh no, that sucks brother. Hoping you heal up well. The blazer sounds like a cool project.
Do you think the kiwami4 is the same or similar to the R500?
I cant make a decision which one is best for clear coat?
Kiwami is a different gun for sure. Kiwami 4 I feel is a better clear gun but I hesitate because you may like the r500 better and you my have concerns with air consumption. The r500 is less money.
@@GarageNoise I think th r500 is best for me, my compressor is 26 gallons, base on that limitation I might have to go for the R500. I really like the kiwami4 everyone says is good...
I have both guns, the kiwami lays down clear really well but that R500?? For the price, air consumption and how it lays down clear it can't be beat.
@@eddiejones8339 I may have to get both..
One for clear coat one for base color.
@Daniel Medrano
I use my astro HE for base coat. I have a brand new one sitting in the box waiting to replace it. That Kiwami 4 lasted a year just spraying clear. I bought 2 at the same time. The second one is still in the box. The R500 I've used twice and it laid down the clear very well and was 65.00 that Kiwami4 was 187.00. Could buy 3 R500's for the price of the Kiwami just saying.
What’s the most used size on your masking paper I’m looking at buying a masking stand not sure on what sizes I’d use most currently I just use 3m plastic to mask but paper would be handy here and there
I use 18inch and like you I mostly use plastic. Appreciate the support!
@@GarageNoise thank you for the reply! Do you ever use the small like 6-8in say for like inside mirrors or tail holes
Just in case I missed it ,but what size tip is on your spray-it spray gun?
It's a 1.3 appreciate the support!
is the paint gun better then the little astro gun? clear looks good
It's as good as the astro. The astro is a great gun but this is more versatile since it uses less air. Both spray great tho. Appreciate the comment and support!
