You can get an extra karma level, the echo on top of the wall gives it to you but as far as I know it doesn't do anything.

So if the entrance to the city is via pipe, then it's basically confirmed the ancients were slugcat sized.

I feel bad for every creature involved here. Artificer lost her kids and her eye to scavs, and went on a path of perpetual violence as a result, canonically trapping her in endless bloody war until she simply disappears, and the scavs she kills go from involved in her children’s murder to totally random, unaware of why they’re being slaughtered by this cat. That and the fact you kill the scav king, who doesn’t attack until provoked likely means he had no idea who you were, just that you were dangerous. Artificer is blocked from ascension, and the scavengers are almost wiped from the face of the world as a result of one terrible event. Depressing stuff.

Interestingly, in the Artificer's playthrough, Five Pebbles is capable of reading pearls for you as Moon is unavailable. His readings are quite different, especially for any pearls written by/involving himself. Actually, hearing the way he interprets the pearls made me like him a lot more as it presents a much deeper dive into his persona than his general grumbling at the player gives, and he frequently laments his past mistakes while self-reinforcing his own decisions to bear the consequences of his actions and proceed regardless. Likewise, I believe there are alternative interpretations of certain pearls for LTTM both in the past (Spearmaster) and future (Saint) for any pearls available in those campaigns.

When in the timeline is it? From first to last I got Spearmaster, Gourmand, Hunter, Survivor, Monk, Rivulet, and Saint but I’m not sure who Artificer fits between.

Idk if he already know this but the artificer can also do a literal assassin ability where he can grab creatures and snap their necks but only works on smaller creatures and scavenger I think

works with most incapacitated creatures, but it doesn't instantly kill them, in some cases like the lizards it takes some time to kill them, which you can see how dangerous it is to try to break something's neck when this something has a lot of teeth and a strong jaw

What I love about the non-ascension endings is that you can continue where the ending sequence left off, with this one picking up over the corpse of the scav chief. You can even take its mask which is a godsend for the likes if my rat self
So, Bombcat lore (spoliers)
Mother of 2 cute babies, part of her died when scavs murdered her children. So she baaaaasicly john wicked every scavs in her sight and (i'm guessing) she could have three endings
1) the doomguy ending das first saw via scav king boss fight
2) ascend, but turn into echo or not completely(idk rly) aka das's 2nd ending
3) there are pearls in the scav king boss arena, i presume she has a option to forgive the scavs by giving the king a pearl. With that, maybe she could ascend properly.

... I just noticed - Scav King has the Mark of Communication. The only non-slugcat we've seen with the Mark. I wonder if Pebbles actually tried to reason with them at one point, only for them to not understand (or just ignore him)? Or perhaps the Mark is how that particular Scavenger became king, obtaining information from someone? Very strange...
One thing I love about bombcat is that you can finish off enemies by biting them, stun something and start nibbling! That means you only need a rock to kill a scavenger.
You don't even need a rock! When you do explosive jump but holding down she just creates a shock wave stunning enemies. She's the weapon lol
You can get to the void sea without enough karma, which is done all the time in normal any% speedruns. It's strange that artificer is treated differently.
Artificer is explicitly trapped at low karma, which the other slugs aren’t. Maybe that’s related.
i wonder if theres a different ending if artificer gets pilgrimage and has full karma when she ascends

@@clintonanderson7436 i don't know this as fact but her pilgrimage has access to 7 echoes so I feel like they did that to add challenge to her pilgrimage and to let her ascend

They really need to make Artificer's dreams play even if she dies since they only trigger when hibernating. I have a feeling a lot of people miss out on them (and her backstory) if they try to go straight to killing the Chieftain. It also makes it seem like she's angry as heck every time she "wakes up" from dying like the player does.
I didn't see the last dream myself (though I know what happened) before I finished her story.
Also cool fact: if you continue after killing the Chieftain, you start the game on the Chieftain's throne.
Btw, Artificer has a nasty little secret. If a creature is stunned or is small enough to be carried in your hand, your can snap the creature’s neck by holding the grab button. This works on any creature, but may take more snapping depending on their health. In summary, you can wrestle lizards with your tiny paws if you have something to incapacitate them for a few seconds.
oh wow, rewatching this after the stream, the echo warns you that defeating the scav king would "lead to a path of no return". amazing!
also i assume the reason you don't see scavs ontop of P5 afterwards anymore is because Artificer killed them all/drove them away... so that means the bad ending is likely the canon one :(
and why use devtools to skip to the void sea? is there no legit way to get all echos and ascend with Artificer? i wonder if that would be a different ending to go there with X

Scav king has no clear method of communication, if you just sit there he aggroes after a while anyways, and I used devtools because I didn't feel like taking the 3 hours to go around the map picking up 6-9 echoes with the artificer's karma restrictions when I could be finishing the gourmand.

When you get echoes before getting the mask you can increase your max karma level, once you get the mask its stuck at one. I never noticed that by getting the mask you're choosing violence instead of ascension, its a cool detail

Yeah basically, Artificer can't join their children is the void sea because of their sins (lack of karma).
Presumably, if you go through the effort of absolving your sins as Artificer, she/he would be able to join their children in the Void Sea.

Yeah it looks like she was desperately trying to push forward despite being left by the void worm, burning herself up in the corrosive void sea, only surviving due to her parental determination and unique abilities to survive long enough to see her kids one last time before ceasing to exist. Which is a real tear-jerker
The parry was actually super underused, the parry is super essential for fighting scavs because it's not just a way to stop mid air spears but its a universal stun for most creatures, makes killing them way easier, I killed the scav boss on my first try, it helps so much with the ridiculous spawns Artificer gets

I think the Arti has my favorite story just for the weird rapport you get with Five Pebbles, it's fun bringing him pearls and getting to hear his own thoughts on the other iterators and ancients (especially how excited he gets over the white pearls that have art on them)

I assume that in the Rain World you can die completely without void fluid. The hunter dies of disease, the Ancients left the cycle by starvation (before the opening of the void liquid). Plus, some animals died out, so my theory is that the void liquid only speeds up the process of transcendence, but it can be achieved without it if you have no sins.

By design, artificer can always pull spears out, since she rarely ever actually needs spear ladders when she can simply double jump.
Arti’s campaign is basically: “I’m not in danger, I AM the danger”.

I’m a player who has loved scavs from the start no matter how inconvenient they can be at times. They’re my cute little cats who like the shinies. . .
But that doesn’t mean the times when accidents or weird ai has ruined my progress haven’t gotten to me. . .

Just finished playing the entirety of Downpour so now I can finally come back here and watch your Experience videos, I was laughing like a little kid when 5P sent us to the city and seeing you have the same reaction reminded me of WHY I love this game.

It would have been cool if there was a new echo findable somewhere in the world after “ascending” with artificer similar to if the Hunter dies of sickness. Maybe it’d be much smaller than the ancient echos and wouldn’t say anything or raise karma but still would be cool.
