Playing fast helps cover mistakes. Playing slow leaves you vulnerable to having your mistakes out in the open. Just like a magician's hands are quicker than the eye.

When I first saw him, I thought Blackmore. He even dresses like him. Yngwie is an incredible guitar player. I saw him with Joe Lynn Turner & that was Yngwie at his best. He did play over Joe's vocals. He actually slowed a bit & let his vibrato take over. I've been a Luthier since 1980, a touring Guitar/Amp/Effects tech from 1980 - 1996. I know what I'm talking about.
