      @green fox why is that? And dont say the repetitive harmonic minor and sweep arpeggios, because he was the first to use it as such in the 80s, it only became repetitive after everyone started doing it.

      @green fox You the type of guy that thinks that bending one string for 2 hours and make faces is great guitar playing right? Ritchie was good but malmsteen took it to another level, to the point where all virtuosos from today had malmsteen has influence.

      green fox Most of Yngwie’s early stuff was interestingly composed. After the 90’s he really became hard to listen to, I’ll give you that, but trying to say Blackmore did it already just isn’t true. I listened to Ritchie before getting into Yngwie and they’re are not similar in any way. Yngwie used sweep arpeggios, diminished, melodic, and harmonic minor scales. Ritchie didn’t. He played painful pentatonic licks and had shit accuracy. Ritchie is embarrassingly bad with the exception of maybe two solos. He’s like the Carlos Santana of metal lol.

    • @Albertowesker

      @green fox Is the modern Mozart of Y j Malmsteen a clone of: the boredom of the blackmore tortoise, the one that makes soda factory noises with the lever? ha ha ha ha ha ha. Operate your ears, if you have ears to operate ^^ You have never swept more than two strings or extensive triads around the neck of the guitar. He plays pure pentatonics that are heard like the noise of airplane turbines, because he tries to run fast and the sound does not come out a bit clean. Turtle blackmore boredom, is a guitarist who performs solos with only three fingers of his left hand and is a guitarist for deaf and mediocre like you. Yngwie J. Malmsteen is a clone of: Mozart, Bach, Bethoveen, and Vivaldi, the gods of instrument playing and music.

    I saw Yngnwie back in the late 80's in bham England but got the impression he couldn't really be arsed to play well..it was a little club and he made a 1000 mistakes but Im still a big fan, ego aside he changed rock guitaring and raised the bar....I think he's world class rock guitarist and worth listening to, esp if youre a player or want to be a player, he'll inspire you Im sure, he did me :)

    I dont really know how to explain this, but my ex-girlfriend kind of looked like a (substantially sexier) girl version of yngwie. She even favoured the same big sunglasses because of that slightly chubby round face. At times it would get distracting to the point of being slightly disturbing. Obviously I never told her altho im sure she'd have no idea who he is anyways (she had the ego to match but couldnt play guitar worth shit). Needed to get that off my chest. what better place than the tube.

I just couldn't stop thinking about Malmsteen.

    Yngwie was cloned ! There are 3 of them. The original pre car wreck, the fat one after wreck, and the current one based of the original. They can all shred. They should do a G3 with just the 3 clones! That would be awesome. Jk, he is kind of an egomaniac but I like him anyway and he is a super hard worker.

    Wow, people that say its just "playing fast" really have no musical knowledge do you? Eric Clapped-out is massively overrated. And Yngwie is actually a musical genius. His knowledge is crazy. You only feel bad about him because you don't have the same level of music theory, and that's fine, just dont pretend that Eric Clapton is a more gifted, more competent guitarist than Yngwie because that is quite obviously not true.
    I doubt Eric Clapton even knows what an arpeggio is.

    I saw Steeler then Alcatraz. I immediately heard Ritchie Blackmore & Uli Jon Roth. I thought it was hilarious to read his interviews at the time practically claiming he didn't know who they were. His best stuff was with Joe Lynn Turner. That band was his best.

    • @epic103
      @epic103 10 лет назад +3

      You're making stuff up... Yngwie never implied he didn't know who Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth are. That's ridiculous!
      Yngwie has always praised Uli and Blackmore. Plus... it's common knowledge that the first record Yngwie got as a kid was Deep Purple's "Fireball." It had a huge impact on him. Yngwie has never denied being influenced by Uli and Blackmore.
      But with that said... Yngwie doesn't play Uli and Blackmore licks. Yngwie has his own distinct phrasing and approach. Yngwie plays like Yngwie.

    • @MrUltraworld
      @MrUltraworld 10 лет назад +1

      I was there. He did dozens of interviews at the time. When he was accused of sounding & even moving onstage like Blackmore, he pretended that Blackmore was not a big influence. He'd go on about Paganini. Even though Yngwie has by now has just about every past member of Rainbow (even Blackmore's Night members) in his band that changed every few months. When I first saw him, I thought Blackmore. He even dresses like him. Yngwie is an incredible guitar player. I saw him with Joe Lynn Turner & that was Yngwie at his best. He did play over Joe's vocals. He actually slowed a bit & let his vibrato take over. I've been a Luthier since 1980, a touring Guitar/Amp/Effects tech from 1980 - 1996. I know what I'm talking about.
