Great vid - glad I came here after the 1st one. -Omg, a 42 gallon tank breaking ... what a nightmare. Glad you saved all the mental gymnastics for anyone wanting an alternative - just use a trough 🙂. Shocked this type of thing isn't talked about more / I got your vid. It just makes sense. (For people who realize: you know: maybe a 50 part series on plumbing, tiling, mudding, vapor barriering just isn't necessary or what everyone needs.)
you could just use a hose under the drain with an adapter and attach the hose to a pump that drains the grey water right back into the sink. Sort of a "recirculation" set up. No more trough or handle tank and no draining water outside. You can even get complex with the on and off of the water with electronics, switches, etc. It could be more of a semi-permanent solution. I have been thinking of ways to do this very thing when I found your videos.
@mrobjects non-submersible water transfer pump. I use a trough too but I have a teak cover placed on top that I stand on while showering and the water flows through into the trough. It's plugged with a ball valve and when I'm done showering I release the valve and pump the water from the trough back into the sink.

Aquatic Everyday AcrylX 36 in. x 36 in. x 72 in 1-Piece Shower Stall with Center Drain in White. It was $350 when I bought it from home depot. It's probably double in this economy now.
You have blown my mind! Really thorough and helpful video. I can use this during my remodel. After that, who knows where? THANK YOU
Thank you! I injured my leg and can't go upstairs where our showers are. Needed a quick idea for a downstairs shower.
Awesome! Thanks!
