    I had to say goodbye to mine due to catastrophic engine failure but hey it's never the end because I own another one that's now boosted.

    I’m not going to lie, this is sad. I recently just got an 03 Se-r. It’s not a Spec V, however I’ve always wanted one. I didn’t discover your channel until a few weeks ago. I loved your car. And what you said really hit me. Before I got my car, I knew how to work on them. But just the basics on how it runs and how to do maintenance. But when I did get my car, I learned so much more. I first bought it in Mesa Arizona and dragged it to north Phoenix using my dads old pickup with nothing but a tow strap tied to the crossmember underneath the car. I knew how to drive stick, I was rusty, but my car needed a clutch. Before I had this car, I knew hardly anything about how the transmission worked. I didn’t know how to service and maintain a manual transmission car. To be honest, it’s just like any other car. Right now my sentra is in limp mode, and I’m having a hard time with that, but before I used to drive all the way down one road and visit the hills. In the suburbs where all the old people live where they have AMG Mercedes cars and luxury vehicles and lots of big houses in the hills. I would drive there early, maybe about 3 and get there by 4:30. And I would do this early in the morning. Almost everyday. And I would enjoy the cool air. The dark blue sky. And the dark shadows from the hills that surround me. And the loud music of course. And I don’t wanna sound like I’m preaching about anything. But I really like what you said about how you had a good run with your car. I loved the video, and I love the channel. Good luck with whatever you’re moving onto bro.

    Much respect for having and putting up with the Spec-V. I am a fan of what Nissan visioned for it. The car on its own is a decent car but that engine was not well thought out when Nissan built it. 😏

    What is this “qr burns oil” is he talking about? I’m a SpecV owner, have been since 2005. My qr does not burn oil, not every qr does. These cars get bad reps because people are getting them after 3 or 4 owners later that did not maintain it. Preventative maintenance goes a long way🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @nicksta16

      It was pretty much a role of the dice with the 1st gen QR25 with oil burning. Back in 2004 my buddy and I bought our Spec Vs around the same time, mine was a 2003 with 7K miles, and his was a brand spanking new 2004, guess which one burned a quart of oil every 1500 miles? A lot of the oil burning issues were caused by not ditching the factory precatted exhaust manifold early enough to save the engine. But, there were also a lot of cars that burned oil straight out of the show room floor from cylinder walls not being honed correctly and/or piston ring gaps lined up. Bottom line: If the engine is assembled correctly by the builder and the factory exhaust manifold is eliminated early enough, It will not burn any oil.

      When was the last time you replaced the valve cover?

    • @romevang
      @romevang 4 года назад

      It actually varies on how you drive them... I bought mine new in 2005 as well, and i didn't start seeing significant oil consumption until the 100k mile mark, and I've always maintained the car. I did drive it hard though, might have something to do with it. The PCV system on the 1st gen QR's isn't designed very well, it can handle 'normal' daily driving, but once you push it hard the PCV system can't keep up and just starts dumping oil inside the intake manifold, even if you replace the PC Valve at regular intervals. Its a design problem that was resolved on newer 2007+ QR25's.
      Just to add, my car is modded, no cats and tuned, and fixed all the common issues like the 'butterfly screws' as well.

    • @rierboiwithans
      @rierboiwithans  4 года назад

      Not every car is the same man. When I had the car I gave it way more care than anyone else did; don't believe me, check out my mod playlist including the valve cover and catch can job. It started burning oil at the rings not too long ago and beyond making visible smoke clouds, the piston ring blowby caused oil to seep out the sides of the brand new valve cover. Must be nice to have a QR that actually works.

    I’ve had two of these. Bought my first 2002 spec in 2014. Sadly it was totaled in 2017. I loved the car so much I had to get another. I purchased another 2003 in May of 2020. Both for the record burn oil. My old and current. My current one burns about a quart every 600-800 miles which is ridiculous. But I will never sell it.
