If you're only getting a month out of your batteries, you might have a problem with the camera. I've had my M6 for 11 years now and have only changed the batteries twice. I've shot thousands of frames. If you're not aware, if you set the shutter speed dial to B it effectively turns off the meter, otherwise, the meter will be active if it's in your bag and accidentally half-pressed or something like that. Nice points on the video though. I liked your comment about not buying a big lens as your first lens.. heh

There are 2 different meters used in the M6. Do they have different battery life?

    Thanks for the video.
Before I bought my Leica M6, I knew I wanted a fast 35mm lens because the 35mm f/1.4 on my Nikon SLR was my favorite focal length for shooting general subjects.
Before I bought my Leica M6, I knew I loved Zeiss glass because of the Zeiss lenses I had used on my Contax G1 rangefinder.
Therefore, the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 was the first lens I purchased for my M6.

When you close up the camera, one shot is sufficient to get to unexposed film. You can start shooting at -1 or even -2. A 36-exp.-roll should get you at least 38 usable frames with the M6.

Switch to B mode when you're not using the camera can save you tons of battery

Lol talking about fast aperture heavy lenses as a first lens, I bought a Canon 50mm F0.95 M-mount as my first lens for about 6 months before I got a body that I could use it on

Hello. Nice review of this legendary camera. Not the first review I've seen, not thelast I guess: this camera does have a cult following (nothing new here). I just wanted to give my 5 cts worth: parallax is in camera corrected . Every lens that couples to the Leica body, be it Leica or third party lenses will move the focus arm (in camera) thus making the frame line move accordingly to corret parallax. As for the rangefinder patch that flares, just put your finger over the frame line illuminating window (the one just off center in front) when it happens or if it gets too annoying, a little light grey felt on that window makes teh flare less pronounced (albeit giving less light to the framelines). Have fun. Thanks for the video
