Kirsten, I 've been watching many of your videos lately, and have been following your channel for a few years now. The thing that stands out is that homeowners are shown as personalities, it's not just about the house, or its design. This documentary-style video you make for us is truly to be appreciated. They aren't fast, bright or filled with music, which gives us the chance to really soak in the details and atmosphere. I enjoy your work and what you bring to this world. Thank you from your viewer in Latvia!
❣Half way into this I realized his way of building is how birds build their nests and how beavers build their houses...and this makes me smile and feel warm all over. ❣ Thank you for another wonderful episode, Kirsten. 💕
Derek DEEKS ~ I am saving this to show my Grandson JonJon. He is nine years old. A few years ago he literally built a shack' from pallets, furnished it. It has been torn down now, but I would like him to see that he is talented and that he can continue to be creative this way. [I, too, am a secret architect geek - still creative but past my prime]. I have been trolling the internet and xfinity for a few years now, for tiny living spaces ideas. Your work is genius.
I hope Deek reads still here. I find it so wonderful that whole video, and in all of his own videos, his eyes are positively smiling. I could see how his wife would get a little annoyed with having him a million projects on the go, but that's life with a creative mind! And really, his personality is so endearing, how could you not love the guy! I also loved how he encourages his kids to build their own projects... no "bubble wrapped kids" there! Have you ever considered teaching kids? I bet you'd be really encouraging of their creative visions. Keep going, Deek! I wish I had your brain!
Deek. You are like laughter in a bottle. EVERY time I watch you or listen to you, I have to giggle. It's just pure glee, man. We are all so lucky to know you. The world is a better place cuz o' you. Hammer away.
As always, nice to see you Deek. I enjoyed seeing this side of you - how you build, your workshop, etc. Kirsten, I love your videos, they are always spot on, up to date and in the know. Thank you for sharing and caring!
Wine not indeed. Great job. Thank you for sharing this with us. Very good information. Well gained Kirsten. Excellent individual teaching us how to be alive. Excellent ideas.
So great to see Deek in his own back yard and learn more about him. He's always posting his own videos about other people or stuff he's made for other people. Thanks for this.
he's so much fun to watch doing his dream job and living his life to the fullest haha interestingly different and crazy in so many good ways. somehow i feel envious. may you have more years to live and may there be more people of your kind.
I´m German and I recognize this guy by his voice every time I see him in a video, even before seeing him..., :-)) I love his spirit! I´m so inspired, that I start a tinyhouse project and after this video I definitely am inspired to let my six year old son build his own cabin! :-) Thanks a lot for sharing!
Favorite youtube channels collide!!! I've really enjoyed the content on both of your channels for a quite a while now. It's awesome seeing you two sharing ideas. And Deek, it's nice getting more of your background story to fill in some of the gaps. Keep up the good work, both of you! And I loved this: "I work hard for my money and life's finite.I don't want to work too hard for it, so I don't want to piss it away on stupid things." This could be my life motto, haha.
This is my favorite episode made by Ms. KIRSTEN, I like the simplicity of the house and yeah the dude is so talented. He can make an imagination turn to reality. I love also the music it's so cool. 😎
I love that you mention your drawings are from not paying attention in class..lol..just because kids don't follow the norm, does not mean they are not brilliant. You are a role model for those kids that also love to dream..great job, and Thank you for posting this video, I will be playing this video for my grandchildren..
I'm a sixteen year old girl that drinks Starbucks and watches Joey graceffa but this channel is what truly brings me happiness haha. Call it my guilty pleasure....I just love seeing all the creativity.
25:47 - The tiny house "movement" is definitely not a fad nor recent. In fact, humans have lived in tiny houses for damn near the entire history of humanity. Big houses will eventually be viewed as temporary, short-lived shelters.
Yes. Even in France, where they prefer traditional stuff and are stubborn, they really favor small domiciles. Easier to manage, heat, maintain, pay taxes on, et c. A large family in a one-room stone cottage is the norm. Six or more people. Apartments as small as possible.
This is unbelievably aweSOME! Kirsten- many thanks for all the work you do bringing these original thinking, lateral position loving, fun instigating, out of the box people who build stuff and think stuff and say stuff and sing stuff that inspires. You, and they, are the world's frontier of FUN.
So glad u did a feature on Derek :) Derek you are such a creative soul and so inspiring. Keep doing what you do. You have a fan in me here in Malaysia.
You are totally awesome, a true creative artist who sees the possibilities in everyday items & what other people only see as trash. I also spend much time retrieving useful items from dumpsters & have furnished my home from pieces found on the side of the road. keep up the great work.
I really enjoyed this video you did a great job on it. I liked that you spent enough time with the person to get the true essence of who he is as a builder and thinker when it comes to building and designing. He's on a good path and he is lucky to have such a supportive wife. I wish them well, some would say he's living the dream.
This and you are so cool! So fun and just makes me want to think outside the box and this makes it all seem so possible. Thanks for causing me to feel like I'm not so out of the ordinary for not wanting to conform to what is considered to be normal! Thanks, Tammie Miller
Hey, randomly chanced upon your comment here +Jon Moore - thanks for cluing me in this is the same Deek! I remember sitting beside you at that workshop. Awesome! And you did a great job presenting at that workshop +Derek Diedricksen, thanks. I'm still dreaming and visioning, have not built anything yet, but looking forward to when I get to unleash this area of creativity!
Love Love Love your Style! Your passion shines as does your technical brilance as seen by your subject matter and editing style. Please keep doing what you do as the World needs You! Tracy Wright
I love Deek and this was a one of the best video's I seen of him and his masterpieces. Great editing and photography and sound. You a real professional! Thanks so much!
It is old school building, I grew up using old tools. I made a living in auto repair shops, and walked in and basically bullshitted my way to being a Master Mechanic. Master Mechanic just means up passed a test, but when you show repairs are reliable, and don't come back for warranty, it's all good. Now being retired, this looks like fun, now I know why I kept all those wood working tools.
Derek, I fell reservedly in love with you until I saw the Mondrian floor covering. Then, you had apiece of my heart, forever! Keep the good things coming.
I am so happy for him, that he found a way to support himself of off something he loves to do. That is a true gift in life, that few of us realize. Inspiring guy!
This guy has a fantastic attitude! What a fun video this was to watch. Derek, keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. signed, a grown woman in northeast PA who never got her treehouse
Ha! Ha! Love the Lollipop Fort of Death video. I love all of the designs. I purchased the plans to the transforming A frame but haven't started it yet.
That was really cool! Thanks for sharing! This reminds me of the creativity that my friends and I had when we were kids. It's cool to see someone who has made it their life's work.
I love the Tiny Creations you build......if I were in the US I would certainly buy one...........I live in Germany (I am from Norway) and I just started looking into Tiny Houses.....Love Tiny Houses....Great video and great tiny space creations.......
I love this creative, recycling, use whatever you can find, guy. I've seen him on utube vids before but he talks so fast & isn't wired like the average Joe, he was a bit hard to watch. Now, thanks to you, Kirsten, I am seeing him in a different light. Wow. I am a kindred soul...people are always in wonder of me. I am constantly looking at something, thinking, what can I make out of this? You, my friend, are a one of a kind creative person. I thank God for you and your amazing mind. Please, try to realize you are not like most people....you are UNIQUE. Most of us, will never understand or even get to the place you are. That's ok. God made us ALL differently...with gifts & talent's (of which you have an abundance). Keep on doing you. Your rocking it!!!
Deek is a geek! A very talented, inspirational, creative, & humble genius who deserves a MacArthur award or similar grant. Best bio vid ever! Super cool! 👌👌👏👏🙏
Creative Genius! Inspiring! You should be the poster guy for ADD! Mcgyver. You talking my language. All your sketchings that you saved & created. Do you know how awesome that is? Extraordinary guy & you have passed that on to your offspring. I really enjoyed watching this. Makes me want to go & make something.
Thank you³: I'm grateful for RUclips, Kirsten & Derek for showing me this. Without them (and the tech of this era) i'd never had known what ingenious things Derek has done. A lot of it is electrical - but for most of the mechanical out of the box ideas, i can figure out analog control methods (i.e. bimetallic switches, light diodes).

I have avoided Deek's videos because his high energy bothered me so much, but now I'm hooked. Now, I get him and am so glad you posted this, Kirsten.
As always, nice to see you Deek. I enjoyed seeing this side of you - how you build, your workshop, etc. Kirsten, I love your videos, they are always spot on, up to date and in the know. Thank you for sharing and caring!
