Thank you so much needed this review
Really nice sharpness and colors (aside the camera banding effect).
Thank you for your honest review
Good complete review. It helped me a lot.
Have Optoma GameTime series projector from 12 years ago, everything was included and with nice backpack /case. From 7 years ago it was same series, but with no backpack and cheaper packing. Now it is in cardboard egg crates. Such an irony...... What's will be next (like bubble wrapped with no case and no cables, or how they can save few cents and sell at the same price), huh.... Thanks for review! Very nice.
Hi great review but please can you tell me if the 3d sync device is included in the box?
Great review.
Also, you sound EXACTLY like Chris Eubank! 🥊
Lol, thanks for the compliment, though I think it is a bit of a stretch comparing my voice to the legendary Lord Eubank.
Thank you for this! Does it have a quick turn off and on mode to preserve laser life? Or do you have to cold boot it every time you want to turn it off?
There is no standby mode for a quick turn on
Very detailed, nice and honest review, awesome info. Thank you for such a complete review! How about 3d content, do you use DLP, 3D vision or something else? Can you tell about using 3D please.
have firmware updates improved the experience with this device, image quality etc?
Is there any reason besides the lateral adjustment to buy this over the x3000i?
Great video. I'm looking for a replacement for my old BenQ HT1075. I actually just bought and returned a BenQ HT3550 because it had really bad chromatic aberrations and the input lag was high enough that when using a mouse with it, I got annoyed. I'm looking at the UHZ50 instead, but wondered how it compares to the 3550 for fan noise and aberrations.
The UHZ50 is much quieter, but if you are a gamer then try the BenQ x3000i which is optimized for gaming. Just be aware that it has no lens shift
How is it holding up ??? Are you satisfied with this or would the lg hu810 or 710p be better
Thank you for the video.
Can you suggest a 4k projector for my home use under $2000 cad.
The more I research the more confusing. I will use 120 screen. Looking for bright and nice clear picture for movies and RUclips. Thanking you in advance.
Do we need special screen for this laser projector or white normal screen is alright
can you please help me here? I am confused between uhz50 optoma/ lg 810p/ or 5050 ub epson???
does Pure Motion (Frame Interpolation) also work at 3D ?
Awesome
I want to update my benq ht3550, I'm seeing the lg hu810pw, which you think
Wow, 35 seconds from power on to usable image? My 10 year old HD33 has the same boot up time. I thought laser projectors were supposed to be quicker at starting up.
I just did exactly the same, I have the BenQ HT2050A , great image but constantly dust gets in the way, and it is very difficult to clear it, I opened 2 times to clean it, it is a headache. So I made a research, and I ordered the Optoma UHZ50 , then I found your review and realized that I am in the right path, I do not think i will return it. I will receive the Optoma projector next week, I am looking forward to enjoy this new dust-free solid-state family member. And also, I run everything through an amazing Nvidia Shield , and an Atmos Onkyo system.
how was ur experience with uhz50?
@@rajmohanpm8189 It´s been 5 days, and NO regrets. Image looks sharp, amazing colors and really bright, even in the eco mode. I am not going back.
In which HDMI port you have inserted?
Previously I did in 1
Then I saw pure motion is in hdmi 3
So i changed
The starting is wierd now goes bright color first then hdmi keep searching after 20 to 30 seconds it works perfect
Your opinion on this pls?
@@apexgamer3173 I just plug 1 hdmi cable to port #3.
And yes, it has a weird startup but after that everything is fine
@@karlochervatin1624 true that welcome to the club
I bought this projector also because it has 2 x 10 Watt speakers but they are horrible. Can anyone confirm that? Also the sound from the color wheel bugs me cause it is so high frequently. Am I just picky or does someone have the same issues?
does it support 3d blu ray and 3d pc gaming? If so, what resolutions/ hz does it support? Can you change the aspect ratio while a 3d blu ray is playing? Does the pure motion frame interpolation work in 3d mode? What are all the resolutions/ hz pure motion supports?
u got any informations about this ?
Hey thanks for the review, do you know if i can use keystone correction with this one in gaming mode ? I read the previous ones couldn't do gaming mode with keystone.
Pretty sure that it is disabled. I think I address that towards the end of the video
@@nman2563 thanks, i don't know if to buy this or the Epson TW9400, i like the opoma more for the laser and because its more recent and more sharp, but the old epson has so much flexibility when setting it up. i think i try the UHZ50 first if im not happy with it, i can still send it back, do you know if the Optoma UHZ50 is still good to use for gaming when not in gaming mode ? I can't find any input lag measures for that beamer when not in gaming mode. Thanks ! :)
@@bapeape8893 Unfortunately I am not a gamer. I would pick the Optoma for its long life laser light engine. You will not have to worry about the bulb dimming and replacement every year or so
Nice.
How is the picture when the lights are on?
Thank you. I really appreciate your review and understand the work that went in to it. Very nicley done.
I do not get it teh Optoma UHZ45 is significantly cheaper. Seems to have the same specs but 800 more lumen output. Why is it cheaper then if it is by the specs better?
Is there a big difference in brightness and noise level your Benq 3050 and this UHZ50?
Yes, the UHZ50 is much brighter and quieter than the HT3050
Welcome to optoma, every problem you had has never changed but the price has
great "real life" review. i have trouble deciding for home theater use, which one is best: UHZ50 or BenQ x3000i
any idea?
edit: you really should read what's being discussed below.
answer to my question: if I had the bucks, i'd splash'em on an epson ls12000
The BenQ doesn't have vertical lens shift but is otherwise the better projector
BenQ i3000i has significantly worse black levels compared to Optoma UHZ50
@binaryvoid3264 Black levels are only one of many factors in picture quality. I have the x3000i and much prefer it to the Optoma. Black levels don't look any worse to me
@@nman2563 maybe is there some multi-factored point of view to this: watching lots of B&W or darkend flicks (i think Dune, Blade Runner...), maybe some sensitivity to contrast-like-toned-down rainbow effect perception.
Do you mind checking whether this projector in 4k60 while on "Enhanced Gaming" is on still outputs a 4k image. The UHD50X which is the bulb version of this projector will downscale a 4k60 image to only 1080p while "Enhanced Gaming" is on. You should be able to tell whether it becomes blurrier with enhanced gaming or not
Sorry, as I mentioned I returned the projector
@@nman2563 why did you returned it?
@@XStrikeSuper it's explained in the video
Would this be better then the epson 3800?
Can someone help me. I can get sound to the sound bar with an optical cable
which one do you think is better in terms of picture quality(colors, HDR, detail, crispy picture wise, black levels etc), this one or LG HU810pw. I do casual gaming like Uncharted, God of War and Resident Evil (single player games) but don't care about 3d and 120hz. Which one do you think i go for if not having 3d/120z is not the issue. I just want the better 4k/60fps(games) and 23/24fps(for movies/shows) picture overall including HDR for both movies/TV shoes and gaming.
I wish I could answer that. Unfortunately I have not seen the LG and I am not a gamer. You can check out Projector Central's review in the link in the description which rates its gaming performance
Get a epson eh-ls12000b, it has 2.1port 4k 120hz lazer
@@johnnyenconecter2491 faux k
I had a HU810PW and I'm selling it in favor of this one. The input lag was extremely noticeable to me on the HU810PW, wouldn't recommend it for gaming
@@matthewlowry1366 but the rainbow effect on this projector is bad
Hello, I have an Optoma UHD38, and it is very noisy in NO echo modes.
AT 1080p it is quieter than 4k, the xpr x4 is loud and I always have it at 1080p with the apple tv4k.
This Optoma UHZ50 if you stand about 1 meter away, is it really quiet in NO echo modes? And you notice the noise rise when you put something in 4k instead of 1080p.
Thank you very much, it's that I want to make the leap in quality and I don't trust the noise, because I have it 1 meter from my head.
Cheers
I cover that in the video. It's best to watch that part
@@nman2563 Thank you, I've seen the entire video and it's very quiet, you say, but since my optoma uhd38 makes too much noise for my liking, that's why I asked to change for the uhz50, silence is very important, I place it 1 meter from my head
@@agustinperez9849 Thanks. The projector was also one meter from my head and I found it very quiet in standard 4k mode. It is much quieter than the BenQ I replaced it with. I did not try the 1080p or eco modes
Great video
what did you eventually brought and worked for youtube content ?
I replaced it with the BenQ x3000i and that works very well. There is a new BenQ ht4550i that has just been announced that will probably be even better. The x3000i does not have lens shift
does it have rainbow effect
OutsideTheBox! Goodn ight-wow~ that's best uploading,catch you later~🎥
How to connect USB to projector can someone please explain I'm not getting
I do know why you talk about Benq , Lg for a lot of minutes during Optoma Review.
Dont you use the wrong HDMI Port? Port 3 have Pure Motion ?
Pure motion would not have fixed the artifacts
I have also this projector, and you have to use hdmi 3 so you have no artificial problems any more. Hdmi 3 you have a perfect picture
That is excellent news. Sounds like Pure motion solves the problem. I had thought about testing that but decided that I would prefer a projector that does not have to switch to 'soap opera' mode to remove the artifacts
@belle how is the rainbow effect
@Belle Bounce I have a 100" screen, wanna know if it will look good. Im plannin to invest in this kind of projector.
thank q this was i was searching but after I shifted to HDMI 3 , the starting tie is lil increased and the casting app shows up then bright screen after that home screen of nvidia pro
Does this projector have to be in the middle?
Yes it has to be middle of projector
are you satisfied with the black levels?
They are fine for a projector though they can't match a TV
@@nman2563 that's certain for any projector, i was just curious if you had some comparison point to them. some projectors have great blacks while others are more in the gray zone, especially in the cheaper category.
@@Sipu79 This has very good blacks for a projector but not as good as the best. This is partly due to how bright it is
@@nman2563 thanks for the clarification. Bright projectors usually have terrible blacks, if this is doing relatively well regardless of the brightness then it's probably still a very decent sign for something at this budget.
I think it sucks how gaming mode and pure motion have there own hdmi so you'll have to keep switching
Can this support a 210inch screen......
300”
This projector gets the job done pretty well. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.
You should get a optoma uhz65, this is more ove a gaming projector
The shortcomings of the UHZ50 are not due to it being a gaming projector - It works very well as a standard home theater projector. The UHZ65 would be a step backwards
@@nman2563 not in color accuracy, which is everything even for gamers 🤔 plus uhz50 doesn't support 2.1 so no above 60hz 4k gaming, your stuck with 1080p 240z with bad quality. Not fun at all
@@johnnyenconecter2491 In Projector Central's review (see link in the description) this projector is rated as great for color accuracy. According to the reviews I have read, input lag, frequency and brightness are the priority for gamers. Resolution and color accuracy not so much - You can check Chris Majestic's review of the UHD50x ruclips.net/video/oa3GIvmUMog/видео.html Optoma is careful to market this project as a multi purpose projector that can do gaming, not necessarily as a dedicated gaming projector. I am not a gamer so I cannot verify what is important, but that is what I have read. For example BenQ's gaming projectors use an RGBW color wheel which produces an image that is less color accurate but provides a brighter image. I can tell you from experience that the apparent difference between a HD image and 4K image on a projector is not that great. It is much less obvious than on a TV. You will see the same observation on many projector reviews
@@nman2563 Well it depends, if your a online gamer then yes it wouldn't matter but if your like me who plays single player games like god of war or tomb raider. I need my colours plus most gamers spend there time watching RUclips so thats very important to. I would say old more experienced tec lovers like use chase the wow factor you get from quality
@@johnnyenconecter2491 With most RUclips videos the difference between HD and 4K is not obvious on a projector. The video quality of the source video the creator published is likely to be the limiting factor. There is no wow factor of a 4K projector image over a HD image, assuming the projectors are good. Sometimes it can be impossible to tell the difference, especially with the clean computer-generated images of a gaming console or computer. The image good HD projectors produce is excellent and the upgrade to 4K can be disappointing because there can be barely any visible improvement to image quality. That is why manufacturers are comfortable offering 1080p as a high refresh rate mode for gaming
