Good video that points out some of the best spots. I really appreciate your emphasis on flying safely and following safety regulations, including maintaining VLOS, staying below 400 feet, not flying over people, etc. You have a great attitude. A few comments and corrections. Regarding Red Rock Canyon, and Mount Charleston, it's not that you can't fly in wildlife habitats ( 1:05 ). Although of course you can't harass wildlife with a drone anytime, anywhere. It's that drones are forbidden in Congressionally Designated Wilderness Areas. At Red Rock, you're fine anywhere on the Scenic Loop. It's when you take your drone on a hike that you may run into restrictions. There are two wilderness areas, the LaMadre Mountain Wilderness, and the Rainbow Wilderness. If you go hiking on the LaMadre Springs Trail, the Keystone Thrust Trail, or the White Rock Trail, for example, you'll be in the LaMadre Wilderness and may not operate your drone there. If you go hiking on the Ice Box Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon, or Oak Creek Canyon trails, you're fine for the early parts of the trails, but when you get off of the open plain and back into the actual canyons, you're in the Rainbow Wilderness. It's also worth noting that there are golden eagles in those canyons. They just might attack your drone with hostile intent, if you're anywhere near the cliffs, well outside the wilderness area. So, keep an eye out. My trusty old Air 2 got a repeated thumping one day. (It survived). What I learned later is that instead of trying to fly it back as quickly as possible, the best avoidance is to fly it straight up or straight down as fast as possible. They can't do that, and can't follow immediately. Similarly, on Mount Charleston, if you're on the main roads (Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon, and Deer Creek roads), you're fine. You're fine on many trails, such as Mary Jane Falls, the Upper and Lower Bristlecone trails, and the Cathedral Rock trail. But if you're on the Fletcher Canyon Trail (even though it's lower down on the mountain), the Trail Canyon Trail, or the two long trails that go to the peak, you'll be in the wilderness area where you can't fly your drone. So for anyone planning to fly in those kinds of areas, add an item to your preflight checklist to verify where the wilderness areas are. Once again, very well done video.

What's great about the DJI app is that it show important places where you can't go (like airports) and from what I've been told it will not let you go there even if you want. The drone is supposed to stop. Nice for noobies like me :)
The Geo Fencing is really nice. I’ve had it still say clear for take off even in restricted areas. So be sure to check other apps and flight maps just in case. Better to double check and avoid trouble. The DJI system is awesome, but not 100% reliable all the time.
According to the Red Rock park website they say: Yes, visitors can fly drones for recreational purposes at Red Rock Canyon. Please do not disturb wildlife or visitors while flying your drone. Visitors are prohibited from launching and landing drones and other unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Red Rock Canyon's Wilderness Areas (La Madre Mountain Wilderness Area & Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Area). Hello I just got my 107 and DJI mini 2 with the summer heat any drones that handle the heat better than the mini 2? I leave the battery in the fridge and I get a few more minutes but not sure if you have any advice I’m in Henderson thanks
Hi there SpeedBird, great question, I find that the phone overheats way faster than the batteries die. I keep 3 on me at every shoot just in case. But bringing cold / ice packs for sure helps. Feel free to check out my video on flying in 127° heat if you haven’t already.

nice, I have been thinking of getting a drone for my channel one day but I know there are a lot of regulations and restrictions. I see a lot of drone shots of the strip, guess they got special permissions and permits?

@@KarleyCottrell It's late for the original poster's question, but drones are forbidden everywhere in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. In fact, the admins are pretty hostile. There is a spot near one big beach where there is a field designated for unmanned aerial systems, but the fine print specifies that it's for model airplanes only.
It’s stock footage that you purchase from a service. It’s not footage I took myself. We use B roll and stock footage all the time to better show what we’re talking about in the voice over. If you want to see what I mean then google stock footage for youtube. You’ll see what I mean.

What app do you use to check if area is restricted? Im planning on buying the mini, it will be my first drone, im going to las vegas in march, coming from Denmark
DJI has built in software that shows you if areas are restricted or not. Shouldn’t let you take off if you’re in an area you’re not supposed to be in. But I also always check with the B4UFLY app. They can give you additional info.

Yes. Either they have arranged for permission / permits / waivers / authorizations / etc…. Or they are just doing it hoping they don’t get caught.
