I'm so glad one of the channels I follow is actually getting the cars out onto tracks, unto roads and not just built and sitting under covers on the lifts. You guys should do more destination road trips and events with your builds, makes the cars feel like enjoying them is the goal and not just an idea. Keep it up.
That stretch of RVs has been getting larger the past year. A lot of those people are working. Low wages plus high housing costs keep even the determined from stable housing.

The Lemons brake solution that works for many teams is ST43 compound pads, blank rotors (no holes), and ATE Typ 200/Motul 600 fluid. That will last several races, for my Volvo wagon it lasts 6-8 races.
I notice how oscar says "the brakes are shot" AFTER Kyle gets in the car and goes out on the track lol "what a nice guy" hahahaha
We let Kyle know way before he jumped in. We wouldn’t want to set him up to get hurt.

I race Lemons in the Southeast. In 7 years, I've never been on a track with just 35 cars. That sounds luxurious. Our next race has 118 cars. Anyway, congrats! Finishing is winning!
I want to do my first lemons race, realistically how much am i looking to spend to get all my gear and safety equipment for the car?

Fun time at the track! It seemed like the team prepared the car well (maybe work on improving brakes & their airflow for next time). And Chris seemed pretty relaxed, just focused on helping his 4 newbies enjoy their time at the track. Great job!
Don’t remember what year your CLK is- but I have an 08 C-class- one common failure is the variable length intake runner motor fails. Not 100pct but that does sound like what could cause your starting and running issues

Wow the RVS along the road were crazy! What’s going on in Portland?
Temporarily they should buy 10 acres and create a short term tv/camp site with ways to help the people get back on they’re feet, and maybe save them from getting hurt on the side of the road. Very sad
A guy in New Zealand did this during covid to give people a safe place to go and they grew fruit and vegetables there too. Great idea

These lemon races are hysterical. I'd rather watch these kinds of events than multi-million dollar race teams any day of the week! :D
Great race. Thanks for the content. Please remember that not all homeless are unemployed and many of them are families with small children. Inflation and stagnant wages are hurting a lot of good people and their families.

Hey Chris, just wanted to point out a LOT of homeless people actually do have jobs. They just don't make a living wage. I bet a lot of those people in the RVs actually work at that warehouse so they dont have to waste what little they have on a commute. Yes some will be the stereotype, but its not the truth, its what society wants us tk thjnk so we feel okay treating them like trash. The real problem is that 58% of Americans live paycheque to paycheque, not laziness
You’ve obviously never been to Portland. That street is hardly an isolated incident…it’s endemic throughout the city.
Unfortunately that area with the homeless has been like that for about three years

haha well, it'll probably have a blu tooth stereo and cup holders before the brakes get fixed lol (like how they didn't fix the starting problem but installed the cooling and communication systems lol)
That 644, celica gts, it'd be epic on that track...that 22LR engine will run for days. The tranny isn't set up for tight courses, it's a true gt car.....
I'm on the team with the Celica GTS. It's an amazing car haha! Supra suspension with the bulletproof 22re. It's really great at ORP, Sonoma, and the Ridge

not going to lie. after recently running a lemons race. The penalty calls really pissed us off lol
is the cost of housing in portland that insane, or is there a ton of unemployed? are the workers underpaid? are they paid at all? how much is a 1-bed studio in portland? OMG, what are the wages like there, it must be hell.
Portland tried raising wages to a higher level but covid destroyed any chance of finding a place to live for under 2k
@@Oscar_SMT so its either; overpopulation/lack of new buildings or the rich landowners are being greedy and charging too much for rents
Apartmentlist says the average one bedroom apartment is $1,900.

I can believe there are not enough cheaper units somewhere. if not then someone will need to build more project housing for the underpaid masses that can't afford 2k a month in rent for 1 person. according to google, a max of 30% of income should be devoted to rent. in my past I've have well over 50%-75% goto rent

Can someone explain the black flag penalty thing for a newb? I don't get the Lemons thing.
so in any type of racing there are penalties for screwing up. Like hitting other cars on the track, going 2 or 4 wheels off the track. Reckless driving. All those things carry a penalty. And in lemons when youre caught doing one of those things, they wave a black flag at you on the race track. Its a signal to come in to the pits, talk with the lemons staff about your mistake and how not to do it again. Interesting fact, we have never had a black flag waived at us, we've always self reported when we make mistakes.
Tech Inspection was brilliant!!! "I have a hot pepperoni pizza". "That's an A car with a C team, so it averages to a B". Perfect!!!

It looks like you guys had a great time at the race and I'd say you'll keep getting better and better results (but you might want to address some of the issues the car is developing, you are running it pretty hard!)

@@Oscar_SMT jump your KR relay next time in the from SAM, should have a R under the relay, its the power supply for the engine control unit, sometimes the ground control in the ME goes bad and it has trouble closing the relay

It sounds like you guys may have cooked the brake fluid, if the pedal went spongy on you. I'd definitely consider some DOT4 racing brake fluid for future races!
Too many people see gonna be mad about stating facts about most of the homeless out there but I just wish you woukd move to a better state that more friendly to its citizens and businesses
The funny thing about those "homeless" are they? If you have an R/V and a $200,000 motorhome, you're not homeless. THOUSANDS of people are ditching a house, or a tiny condo or BS apartment for living in a trailer or even a van. There are some people who have said "screw the working 9 to 5" and living the van life.
I spent every summer living in a tent (while my parents had the nice park model trailer lol).
I tell you, when I reach the point where I can no longer work (due to physical issues) I've half a mind to buy a van, a trailer for my motorcycle and hit the road.....the only issue these days is gas prices.

To those who have something negative to say about the start of the video - I also live in Portland and it’s actually a big problem. Chris being “whitty” is just him voicing the same frustration we all have with Portland - our state/local government doesn’t work on this problem. Our police force is blunted. There are no mental health resources being enforced - although they are offered, ineffectively.
BUT you're the wokest city in the country! who cares about crime, homelessness, destitution, companies fleeing due to shoplifting....all that matters is you're WOKE!!!
@@muskokamike127 haha! It was actually a fun place to live and now it’s scary to be real. 500k for an old house with bums urinating in your yard. And that’s WAY outside downtown. The bums throw rocks off of overpasses into 75 MPH traffic here. It’s dangerous for us and them.

They're not homeless, many of those just aren't regular homes. Stop being a karen. Did you see some of those trailers? $50K easily. Some of those motorhomes? $200K easy.

R/V skid row....except some of those motorhomes and trailers are worth 1/4 million and many of those trailers are worth $60K...I WISH I was poor enough to afford one of them.
