Thanks Mick for your on going support appreciate that a lot. Also about being instructive thanks for that trying to pass any knowledge I have to others so we can all share in adrenalin rush I felt.
Hey mate, I normally fish down the South Coast for luderick, drummer and other pelagics. I've started fishing in Sydney recently in the esturays and was wondering where the better spots are for pelagics? Are metal lures just as effective as they are off the rocks? Thanks.
I find in estuary systems using plastics yeileds better results. The realistic scented imitation has a higher chance of tricking fish, this is because thell be a little fussy as there's plenty of bait around. You can try places such as hunters Hill, blues point. More so blues for lures. Any place holding bait with depth is preffered.
Lol guy in black is my best mate javier. He would have jumped in if you asked 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 this guy nearly died helping land our jewie, climbing down 15ms cliff face middle of the night 4m swell...
Excellent catch mate. What size hook did you use for the salmon? I was there yesterday and 2 hours either side of high side just got picked off by tiny fish. Used 3/0 octopus circle hooks. On my other rod just as the sun was going down hooked my pb flatty! She went 63cm and felt like dead weight at the start but started her fight on the surface. Got her on a size 1 octopus with a pilly tail. Took your advice and fished weightless
Ecstatic to hear that I was able to help in some way, really glad to hear that. The season is a bit off atm, hence no fish around the change possibly. But dawn and dusk defo produce the goods. In summer time a high tide at 4pm and your likely to hook onto a king. Your gear sounds good too keep working at it. Good luck bro.🤙🤙👌👌💦💦
Also, best to dong the fish on the head instead of letting them suffocate in a bucket. Best cut salmon by the throat to reduce their blood in the flesh.
Yeah mate. I ussually cut the throat to bleed em Strait away but as said in the video I diddnt bring ice. For a pelagic fish it's weird how well thell survive in a bucket. It was almost good for release when i blead it to take home. If u watch videos like my bonito one you'll see how well we take care of our fish. But props to making sure people are taking care of there catch.
Yeah in Australia we call them Australian salmon hence the title. In NZ where I was born we call them kahawai. They are actually a species of mullet believe it or not. There scientific name roughly is arripus trutter. Defo not like the salmon with red meat. Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed.
Agreed. If u watch some of my other vids you see I ussually take ice and alwase bleed fish just wasn't expecting to get anything so didn't bring ice. Iki hasn't been successful for me all the time so unless I sashimi I don't. They can survive in a bucket for a while so when I did bleed him 45 mins later he was good enough to let go. Glad to see your promoting taking care of fish, love seeing it. Hope u enjoyed the video. 🤙🤙
Very instructive video and congrats on the pb!

Just shows how mush more fishing is than just standing out there waiting for a bite. Then you hook the big one wow.
Yeah mate. Can be a good way of seeing how the ecosystem natrslly works too quite interesting and exciting seeing how everything reacts.

Man full called it. Definitely need to be observant while fishing
Yeah lol when your obsessed you start noticing things with te amount of time spent on the water haha🥲🥲.

Great salmon i’ve been starting to get into fishing a lot and that looks like a good spot, where about in Sydney please 👍👍
Porthacking mate.
What was the time and how were the tides like ?
The high tide was at 1 o'clock and the fish was caught at 12 :15.
The guy in the black unrapped your line btw. But your line was tangling at the bottom soo maybe better rby that time to handline him
Yeahh I noticed during editing. I could've saved a lot of line
According to the internet it is not really an actually salmon more of its own kind but still a beautiful fish nonetheless

Offt. Did the line cut your hands as it ran??
Yeah a little bro. Definitely started feeling the burning 20 minutes after.

Haha yeah. I was just having a bit of fun targeting the babies until the big ones showed up. Needed a bit of drag to peel 🥶🥶
Thumping salmon mate, what wharf is that? Cheers.
Gymea
I live 10min from there saw a guy pull in a nice salmon at this place
That’s a kahawai
Proud kiwi here too bro. Yeah in NZ they are called kahawai but here in Australia they are known as Australian salmon.
