- The Boys TV show is known for its crazy visual effects. And The Boys Season 4 is even more outlandish than ever. So how do they create those incredible and disturbing CGI sequences? How much VFX is in the show? And is it possible to film The Boys without CGI?
Antony Starr was unimpressed by Jensen Ackels physique. He portrays Homelander and wears a muscle suit, but still has to keep himself in good shape for the stunts he does. All of the Supes’ outfits are made with the help of 3D modeling. The same models are used to create visual effects when it’s too dangerous for the actors.
Many sequences are comepetely and fully CGI-ed, like the V-ed up chicken and sheep in The Boys farm scene. And in the scene where The Deep eats his octopus friend, no animal was harmed. Timothy was a CGI creation. Still, Chase Crawford had to eat some unpleasant stuff while filming. Watch this video to learn more about The Boys behind-the-scenes!

Homelander being afraid of the height while he slowly rises into the air, is one of the funniest things I have seen.
He must have done that so many times now, if you have fear of heights that must be agonising…. But yeah the footage is definitely funny af 😂

I have a huge problem with gory movies and this series is so huge I binge watch it. Also most of gory matters the plot or is humorous somehow. The hardest thing was to watch that live octopus though, I'm glad no octopus was harmed in the scene :)
But the CGI often looks so bad
@@nanyavereysame! I have NO issue with gore whatsoever. I’ve seen tons of horror flicks so when it comes to that I’m basically dead inside. But the octopus scene was horrible! And for some reason the gills on the Deep freak me out! I’m almost embarrassed to say it but they made me wanna throw up!
The gore is actually really well done and realistic. The only thing I would fix is the amount of blood which is released in high impact/explosions. I unfortunately stumbled upon LiveLeak when it was still up and I've seen lots of people die in many different ways. There wasn't actually that much blood in high impact/explosions at first. It's more of a red mist on the initial impact and then the blood starts to pool after.
They know it, they just thought it wasn't shocking enough 😅, Seth Rogen explained it

I was disappointed to find out that the sheep were mainly cgi work.. that’s right for the ones who believed it was all practical effects and well trained animals, sorry.
I think its farely disappointing. My family has been training sheep to fly for generations and to see that done using special effects is disheartening

Fantastic 4 (2005) had a similar moment to Maeve's truck-stopping scene where Ben stops a truck similarly on the Brooklyn bridge. They used the trick to run the truck into a metal pole but I'm pretty sure that's where the similarities stop. I think the Fantastic 4 version was filmed twice. The actor filmed in front of a green screen making sure the camera was the same height off the ground and filming at the same angle using the same focal length lens in both while the distance between the camera and actor/ pole was the same. So they could just layer the actors on top of the original footage and touch up anywhere the pole was still visible. The debris and spark effects from that scene looked like they were all done practically too. It's interesting to see how much yet how little things have changed in 15 years.

VFX are effects overlayed on the video like light flares etc. CGI are parts of the scene being generated by a computer.

i like the last season
I tried to watch but I just can't. It's just too obvious that it's Snatch + Avengers + Vampire Diaries. Butcher is clearly doing his best to impression of Jason Statham and his accent is not only unconvincing but the random "CU next Tuesday"s thrown in here and there makes it worse. I suppose if you're young and you don't know any better you might think this show is genius but really it's stealing everything good from much better shows. If you're older, like me, it just pisses you off that they're not giving credit where credit is due.
