I wouldn’t complain about the skin irritation or small rashes, I would be worried that she had swapped my dog for another one 😂 - what a transformation! 😍
On my dog's first shave, she went from a black fuzz ball to an elegant silver miniature poodle. If I hadn't been standing there talking to the groomer (mobile grooming session in my house), I honestly would think dog was swapped out. First time I learned about coat colour changes in certain breeds.
I was a groomer for 40 yrs. I was known in my area for being able to do cats and dogs no one else would. Be it temperament or difficulty of the groom itself. This looks a helluva lot like a sheep shearing, so "peeled" is an accurate description. His behavior was excellent despite not being groomed regularly. Poor pupper, but I bet he feels so much better now. Great job, Vanessa.
Thank you for donating your services to help this dog and his owner. I owned a standard poodle so I understand how expensive upkeep can be. One day when I was in the vet waiting room, I saw a poorly dressed elderly woman enter with a poorly groomed dog. After they were led to the consulting room, I told the vet that I would pay her bill, - regardless of cost. God has blessed me. The look on that old lady's face when she came out to pay her bill and learned that an anonymous donor had paid her bill, - was priceless 🙂. We can all do acts of kindness for each other. Pass it on.
Vanessa’s superpowers are complete empathy with the dogs, and a complete absence of fear of dogs. Animals can tell if you’re nervous or calm, and they act accordingly. It’s rational on their part: If people are tense and worried, they figure there’s danger around. If people are relaxed and quiet, animals know there’s nothing to fear.
Thank you for supporting the animal community and donating your time and facility to those in need! His tail thumping on the wall after the shower was wonderful! You could tell he felt so much better. 🥰

It’s also worth noting that behavior can change with the environment. A lot of grooming salons are loud and chaotic, but a quiet environment like yours might make a difference. I’m an in home groomer and a lot of dogs are SO much calmer when there aren’t a bunch of loud dogs around.
Such a good point. A simple nail trim by an abusive groomer set my 11lb chi-weenie back years. She had night terrors for weeks. Although that's not the same situation at all here, the groomers make the difference.

we can all certainly fall on hard times, but we should never let that affect a living creature in our care. I’m a vet groomer and am shocked at the amount of dogs turned away from other groom shops wether it’s due to matting or “behavior”. It seems like people turn away dogs they just don’t want to deal with and it breaks my heart :( Thank you for helping this baby!
You can tell from how well behaved he is that this dog is loved and well cared for. People don't realize how quickly finances can fall apart leaving normally responsible owners unable to do what they normally do for their pets.
I’ve fallen on hard times before too, but this owner could have brushed the dog. That, the overgrown nails, and the dog’s obesity makes me wonder if this isn’t just plain laziness.

He‘s such a good boy ❤ He seems to appreciate your groom!! You can clearly see his facial expressions with his hair all gone even when you were working on his paws.
Groomer here to co-sign…doodles definitely tend to be more difficult for grooming (regardless of size). He was such a good boy it was incredible to watch. It seems like he was getting very regular maintenance before his owners fell on hard times and that could be why he’s so well behaved. He is what groomers everywhere wish all doodles were like.
Golden retrievers are generally so very well behaved and poodles are well behaved as well. A golden and a poodle is of course different than a Labrador and poodle, but even with this mix, labs just aren’t aggressive either. Poodles, Goldens, and labs are not aggressive or difficult dogs. Why would you find them difficult? I'm just curious. My mom was a groomer, and she loved these dogs because they were so sweet, but of course they are a lot of work. Another popular mix is the aussie labradoodle, which for anyone who doesn't know, is a labrador, poodle and cocker spaniel. The cocker spaniel was added to make the dog smaller. A cocker in the mix does make for a higher possibility of potential aggression. Cocker spaniels have a higher bite rate than people may expect. My mom preferred the Golden doodles and labradoodles to the aussie Labradoodles even though the aussie is smaller, because they can be feisty even when they've been groomed regularly. Many Cockers have no Issues showing you their teeth when they don't like something. And they're not bluffing. They will snap or outright bite. The other issue with the cocker is they are no warning biters. They will suddenly bite hard with no warning whatsoever which is of course dangerous for a groomer. Cockers are notorious for this trait. I've never liked cocker spaniels for this reason.

That and being somewhat high maintenance with that blended coat. The mix of wavy double coated fur, and curly poodle hair can lead to heavy matting and requires fairly frequent brushing & consistent grooming.

Vanessa’s superpowers are complete empathy with the dogs, and a complete absence of fear of dogs. Animals can tell if you’re nervous or calm, and they act accordingly. It’s rational on their part: If people are tense and worried, they figure there’s danger around. If people are relaxed and quiet, animals know there’s nothing to fear.

we can all certainly fall on hard times, but we should never let that affect a living creature in our care.
Many Cockers have no
Issues showing you their teeth when they don't like something.

The Aussiedoodle mix is generally a very high energy dog, I figure that was why she ended up in a rescue. That and being somewhat high maintenance with that blended coat. The mix of wavy double coated fur, and curly poodle hair can lead to heavy matting and requires fairly frequent brushing & consistent grooming.

Some people are so fortunate that they don't know what it's like to be in so much pain that it hurts to move.
Some people don't know what it feels like to have absolutely no energy or strength to even take a shower without being exhausted for a whole week after taking that one shower; because their body is fighting off a dis-ease.

@@kylie782 my comment doesn’t contradict that one bit
NO ONE EVER SAID THE OWNERS DIDNT KNOW THE DOG WOULD BE SHAVED. READ THE COMMENT. THEY CAN BE PISSED THE DOGS SHAVED STILL KNOWING IT HAD TO BE SHAVED@@ARMTOAST
During Covid grooming was not considered an emergency, so depending on the place and rules, matting was not easy to be avoided! Then groomers had so much work that they were overwhelmed! Thank you for helping him!
Or....some didn't need to be told that their own profession prevents animal abuse/neglect that we defended our trade and was a voice for the dogs and worked through the whole thing without missing one single day.....and took on other groomer's clients.....and broke our own rules and did larger dogs and Emergency Grooms (No bath) just to fit in as many dogs as possible!! It was nuts....plus, here in Ontario we had 3 heatwaves that summer to boot!! I'm still tired!!
This doggo was so calm during the whole process. Of course there were things he didnt like but unlike so many others he didnt lash out. Such a good boy.
Falkor looked so relaxed and relieved after his bath 🥹 As a groomer myself, it’s so rewarding to help pets in conditions like this. I love your videos and you’ve inspired me to become a better groomer every day.
I always wonder if dogs would like a nice long warm soak and massage in a tub of lightly soapy or medicated water.
@@nancylindsay4255 I think most dogs really enjoy getting a nice bath! Even the ones that resist at first realize how nice it feels 😅
@@heyimbennot my dog. She shakes and hugs the wall. (Yet she will roll in the mud if I let her) we tried warm and cold water. She just hates it. I think it’s the fact she doesn’t get to chose it lol. She doesn’t run from us when it’s bath time though.
When Falcor sighed and Vanessa said “what was that?”, it was a purr! My doodles does this too when I massage him.
Thats too cute 🥺🥺🥺
Oh! ❤
dogs do not purr
Although the owner fell on hard times, can we appreciate that Falcor looked well fed and flea free. This shows the owner did all he could under his circumstances. Thank you Vanessa. 😊
Except for buying a dog brush.
@@lideabarker8161Yeah honestly. People don’t realize they can groom at home
@@lideabarker8161 You know, sometimes buying food, paying for vet bills, and paying for medication are more important than buying a brush. If you're desperate you could try human items, but it doesn't always work. I've been there. You do what you can when hard times strike without warning.
As someone who has an Aussie I can honestly say even though he's brushed almost Dailey he still cost $110+ to be groomed my boys been shaven twice because of that fact, when you HAVE to choose between a healthy dog aka vet bills or a well groomed dog, its much easier to choose a live dog. I think it's easy to judge other people, when you have no idea what's happening in their life.
@@perkuu6937 I have 6 dogs and I take care of their grooming needs myself. I have all short haired dogs but they get their baths and brushings right here at home. Clippers are not all that expensive either compared the cost of a groomer, no offense to groomers, but if you can't afford one you can do it yourself. It may not look as good when you're done but at least the dog will feel better.
The bestest dog ever for grooming by an amazing person. ❤ your channel!
He actually looks relieved to have that extra weight of fur gone. Your patience with all the animals you groom show just how loving/caring of animals you are. You are animals best friend!
This is like shearing a sheep!! This dog is such a good boy. It’s a testament to the owner for how well behaved this boy is and to Vanessa for taking a chance on him.
I thought this dog was going to be a bag of nerves but he was calm and an absolute sweetheart! Not a flinch while you were buzzing around him...including near his ears.
Goldendoodles are amazing dogs.
What a good boy!! I know he feels great. Good job!
For a dog who hadn't been groomed in a long time, that dog was a saint. Didn't even bark. Such a good boy!
WHY WOULD THIS DOG NEED SEDATION GROOMING? SCAMMER.
What a diamond he ended up being under that matted exterior. As a medically trained person who has gone through sudden physical and financial hardships, I understand what has happened here and am thankful for your kindness in aiding this fur family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your giving back to others.
i loved his “sigh of relief” 😂 my lab does it all the time and it always makes me laugh
The little wag clearly shows what a pleased boy he was at that moment. ❤❤
My kitten sighs often and I’m like, what are you sighing about lil man?
Thanks!
He was a champion at getting groomed and he has to feel so much better. Great job!
He is such a good boy. He lets you touch his mouth. At one point it looked like a sheep shearing gone wrong. 🐑🐑
You did a great job, as usual.
Falcor handled his shave and overall grooming better than almost ALL of the videos I've seen you post (over the past 3-4 years I've watched)! Thankfully, his skin also looked very good for what it could have been. As a major dog lover and furbaby mama, thank you so much for your care of Falcor and all the others you care for!

@@et4920 stop commenting this. She addressed this in the video, no one in the comment section is saying that's what the dog needed. You sound like your accusing people, by commenting this, we know he didn't need it.
Thanks for helping this sweet guy. Such a nice fella💕
His face during the nail trim😆🥰 I love that you help folks who are struggling financially and you educate rather than shame owners who arent caring for pets appropriately.
I am a retired Petsrylist and owned my own business. This dog was wonderful to shave; that groomer didn’t want to bother or didn’t know what they were doing. You did a great job!
The salon I took my late boy to has said they won’t take new doodles anymore, so I don’t blame the other groomer. Like Vanessa said, there are many reasons a groomer could have said no. Just glad Falkor’s owner persisted in getting the care his dog needed!
It's all speculation. We never get to know the story from "the other" groomer. Maybe the owner lied and just wanted a free groom.
Most likely the groomer wasn't getting paid enough and keeps dealing with this shit and had enough, and the owner was stated to have financial difficulties
Imagine a homeless guy going into a barber shop with a massively overgrown and matted head of hair and wanting to pay the price of a regular cut
@MObel -er6mo why would a person lie about their financials?? When we don't know what the person is going through. You should judge own. You are being very mean and rude person
@@M0belwere you alive during these last three years a lot folks have faced harsh financial issues & even after the epidemic folks so many are still sadly facing a harsh after blown and haven't fully recovered.
But hey obviously you are one of the fortunate ones who felt really nothing at all and still living live in luxury from the obvious ignorant way you spoke..
Falcor is completely adorable, with AND without his fuzz! I love his little wistful expressions and eyebrow wiggles. What a good boy! I'm so glad his owner brought him to you.
What a good dog he was for you. Thank you. Helene
When you finished the first clip, he looked like a dog who had just taken off a sheep costume. He was so calm and quiet, too. He looked so relieved when that fleece fell away!
