Our Upcycled Life, To make different size envelopes, am I to assume I should measure just the widest part of my card I’m going to send ? And what about things that have two measurements like a credit card.

You can lay the card in the middle of the paper and make sure when you fold in the two side flops that it covers the card that will determine how big you need it
Measure the long side of your card. That measurement needs to be half of your square measured corner to corner, with just a smidge so you can fit the card in, probably add 1/4 of an inch. So if the long side of your card is 7 in then your square corner to corner needs to measure about 14 and 1/4 in.

Great technique, but how do you know what size paper you need for a card?
I put card in middle of paper and size from there
I wish I had known this awhile back when my granddaughter was in the hospital. Just need to figure out how to size it. There’s got to be a handy way. Any ideas? Thanks

This will work with any size square and then I make my card
If you have a card and you need to make an envelope, how do you know what size paper to use?
Put your card in the middle of the piece of paper fold the two corners till they touch across the card and that will be how big you need your piece of paper

As long as it’s a square of paper, you can turn it into an envelope of any size
what if you wanted an envelope that had a design everywhere except inside and behind where the corner/ closing flap/ fold is?
Could just add a pattern paper in those areas after made with glue stick

This was great. I have one question - how do we figure out how big a sheet of paper we need? I have cards that are 4 x 6 - but I don't know how big a sheet of paper I should use....I am totally new at all this stuff....

You can take a square piece of paper and fold the corners to the middle of the card and that will be the size of the paper you will need

Can these mailed through the USPS? Or do they need to fit specific dimensions?
The USPS does have minimum requirements for envelope size: 3.5 inches x 5 inches x .007 inches thick.

How to measure for specific sizes. I paint watercolor pieces. There always hair bigger that envelopes, I. E. 5x7, 6x9,... I don't wanna put them in a yellow mail envelope 😊

Yes, it will. As long as you can see the address I would put a label on.

You could make any size envelope just start with a square. I don’t have a template for certain sizes.
