Hey mate. I am a creator of this "mod" and for sure I was not 9 years old. If i do remember it correctly i was out in the early 2003 so I was 12 years old. Vlokam 1 (and it`s sequel which were continuations of these "mods") were released when I was 13. :). Nevermind I am still amazed that this kind of new content about these old crappy mods exists so many years after! :) Thanks a lot.

I can't believe Leon made more mods other than the Half Life 2 mod of all time, it's like when people discover a lost renaissance painting behind their stove or something
wow youre right the entire first map looks like an interactive Pilotredsun video
He also made strider mountain and its very unprofessional and the crowbar is turned into a shark week reference and the crossbow is well ruined by counterstrike as usual also same weird deal with wacky cut scenes and dumb gmod camera
It also has a literal ministrider for some reason instead of using a hunter for the intro scene

I was of the opinion that they were trying to make rocket ignition and decided a bunch of explosions would suffice

@@noahomar7393 thats why you dont have missing barney when new map loads. But there are many tricks to bypass it. You can teleport player far away before loading new map to get rid of the npcs. You can also delete them manually with a trigger in the new map
Despite all the oddities of the mod, the one question that plagued my mind the whole time was why are the soldiers Czech?
perhaps the mod author is also czech, which would explain all the popup text being in czech

I mean when I discovered the Half-Life franchise in 2006 at the age of 9-10, I couldn't even figure out how to even open or make a new map in Hammer so this kid was way ahead of me in the days before Half-Life 2 came out.

Hey, this mod may be trash, but this kid made a game in the Source engine (probably) using Hammer Editor. I can do neither of those things, therefore he is smarter.
twas even more of a feat since he did it in 2003 and i'm sure documentation for Hammer and Gold Src in general was way less prevalent

Honestly this is impressive for a 9 year old. If I was 9 I'd just repeatedly Google "how to make half life map no coding", try using a level editor for an hour and then cry because I couldn't get it right immediately. So...what I'd do if I tried making a level today, I guess.

I'm never going to forget the time a content thief on MODDB stole Red Mesa, screwed up the level geometry so hard he filled it with leaks and holes and cobbled it together with AI-Generated levels thereafter and tried to pass it off as his own personal creation.

If you want something that follows halflife, but not quite freeman, there's the "concerned" hl2 gmod comic that follows "gordon frohman" who also worked at black mesa, but called in sick when the resonance cascade happened, (if I recall correctly) on his misadventures through city seventeen

I did a little bit of digging and the guy that made the map is called Kamil Janda, he's in his 30s now and he runs a financial consultants company in Czechia. I wonder if he realises his old mod has become kinda famous!

This mod was made by @KamilJanda here on RUclips. According to an interview with him, he started using Hammer in about 2000. He made a few more mods and you can certainly see him attaining experience from using the toolkit.
