The cricket serenade again. . . 😉😉 You almost made me spew my tea out my nose with the American A319 to MIA for 7 hrs and 35 mins -- 🤣🤣🤣 You had me in stitches on this one!! Thanks for filming and sharing!! 💕✈️✈️💕
When I first open the blinds ,all I see is glorious blue aky, until about 9 AM,then the clouds start rolling in. It's supposed to go down in the mid 60's here in Pensacola this week. I can never wait to feel that first cool breeze of Autum! Great commentary as always,Captain,I've learned so much from you and the other viewers!
I loved the mad dog landing. Anyone can land like a United pilot. It takes a real pilot to almost tear the tail cone off and still pull off a smooth landing. 🙂
Another great vid Captain. Wild near-tail strike with that Mad Dog! I do believe SWA has limited service at ORD. They seem to have limited service at some big places like ORD and BOS. They have absolutely 0 service to JFK to the best of my knowledge
Great video. Suggestion for you. When you catch something spectacular, like that Mad Dog landing, how about an "instant replay" like you get on all the sports telecasts?
The center wheel was on the DC-10-30 and 40. It helped with CG on heavy take offs. The DC10/ DC11 was Fed Ex modifying all their DC10s, eliminating the flight engineer and upgrading their avionics to DC11 status so they changed their designation from DC10 (with flight engineer) and DC11 (without flight engineer)
You should go and visit SDF the home of UPS all the heavy jets you can handle. A constant stream of 757 , 767 , MD-11 A300 & 747's you would be in heavy jets heaven
Another heavy that incorporates a center landing gear is the A340-500/600 varieties. Similar to Norman's post it helps with CG for heavy take offs...also because the plane's 4 engines are thirsty it helps with the necessity to carry more fuel. I always found the a 340-600 a cool plane to see if not the best designed plane. I like the A350-1000 much better...definitely a cleaned up version of it's predecessor.
Great work Capt. Steve. It brings back many great memories. I was a Capt for Midwest Airlines flying the 717 before I got hurt and could not fly anymore. I also flew the MD-88 and DC-9-32 and DC-9-15 with Midwest. The seats are wider on Deltas A220 in comfort and basic coach at 18.6 compared to 18 on the A319. You get as extra 1/2 inch in first class on the A319. Keep up the great work!
@@CaptainStevenMarkovich Capt Steve. I kave a Gemini 200 Delta Airlines Boeing 757-2Q8 N702TW a ex TWA bird I like to send to you. I live in Ocala, Florida.
Midway has 5 actives. The shortest being 3859 ft and the longest at 6445 ft Your enthusiasm is fantastic. It starts the day on such a positive. Cheers to another great episode.
I used to like watching the mad dog go reverse thrust to back out of its gate. But they stopped that sometimes in the 90's. CLT has a observation park off of the center runway. The coolest time there to me is when night falls and the runway lights are turning on.
The center wheel carriage, which was separately retractable, was used primarily when landing and above a certain gross weight for take off, was original to the design of the DC-10 and the MD-11. The Lockheed L1011 did not have a center carriage wheel as the outer wheel carriages were off set differently and the plane was designed for passenger transport only. Off the top of my head, it is all that I know about it, there may be more out there.
DC-10-10 Did not have the center gear. However, the -30 and -40 and MD-11 all had the center gear as standard. But, there is a switch to have the center gear retracted for landing if it is not needed. And Southwest sure does go to ORD. They use the international M gates at ORD. That MD-80 flare was crazy. Another top notch video!
Captain! Happy Labor Day!! Two answers: 1) the center wheels on the MD-11 appear to have been added when they were converted to freighters and were not there when they were passenger flights, and 2) Southwest does fly to ORD. They started in ‘21 and are using gates in the international terminal.
Sad day coming this week for the Queen of the Skys, Captain. Last ever 747 supposed to roll out.. Test fights then off to paint in Atlas Air and DHL tail. Atlas Air fun fact. All Air force one presidential pilots trained by Atas.
Epic video! Heads up you should stay till 3 PM, because the NYPD Livery from JetBlue is arriving from JFK. I was going to go but I’m to busy right now. Anyways Happy Labor Day (made a typo)!
That’s an awesome livery. I’m already back from filming. Tomorrow Tuesday morning I’m having a procedure at St Anthony’s hospital so I may miss a day of spotting
Looks like United swapped their Airbus Ferrari's, to Boeing Toyota Camry's. So use don't use any video editing programs? I'm sure they would help with color mixing. Delta A220 is a joy in coach with wider seats, sorry you suffered an inch or 2 less in 1st
The first filter setting was worse than no filter. At least on my screen. Sorry, didn't see much difference between filter on and filter off. But I don't even own a camera so don't listen to me! lol
check pics of DC10 the center grear was always there and the MD landig was what my late father would call a carrier landing over treshold cut power he was trained as privet pilot by ex navy pilot
The DC-10-10 did not have the center landing gear truck. The 30 and 40 series did. The 30/40 series had increased fuel capacity for longer range. All the MD-11s were built with the center wheels. I used to refer to them as training wheels.
The DC-10-10/-15 did not have the center gear. All other models including the KC-10 did along with a slightly longer wing. All MD-11s had the center gear. All models of the DC-10 with the center gear would sometimes leave them retracted if the aircraft was below a certain weight. Not sure about this on the MD-11.
I feel like the colors are not as vibrant as your last camera. Like the background (trees) are dark and the whites are bright not sure if that helps. Slightly Better with the filter off. Otherwise classic spotting 👍🏻. I have pictures of A continental DC 10 with the center wheel.
makes me laugh we can have American airways fly here on Sunday morning and then this morning Monday 5/9 we get delta yet Tampa has to wait till October to have virgin
To answer the DC-10/MD-11 center wheel support question, the center wheel support was added to the -30 and -40 models to support higher weights.
Great information thanks 👍👍👍
37:30 the sound of a Mad Dog makes me a happy puppy.

My personal observation is that SWA is the leader in "turn & burn" take off rolls!
A very big thank you for the shout out Steven I do appreciate that very much.🙂
Very welcome
Excellent video my friend
That Mad Dog flaring at the landing, reminded me of the space shuttle coming down!
That's a great way to describe it

They also have added IAH.

Yes that was too cool. I used to fly on AA to DFW frequently and often we would reverse out
I can't resist stopping by the CLT observation park whenever I'm in the Charlotte area. It's usually when I go to Bass Pro Shops in Concord.
RDU also has an observation park. It has a raised covered platform and a speaker to listen to ATC.
Another fantastic video Steve. A normal MD90 flare is three to five degrees not thirty. The bounce was indicative of a stall.
Thanks Chuck. Did you see my video few weeks back when it landed flat on all ties same time
Yes I did and that time he came in hot. You find the best stuff.
That's awesome allusion with those props

Hey Cap that MD80 was a 100+ 💯 perfect landing 🛬🛬 Southwest owns the Postage Stamp there in Chitown and they service O'Hare as well🛬🛬
Yep the postage stamp 😊😊😊
CLT stills has the nice observation area just off of 18C
Thanks Jim
Holly Molely that's close ohhh MD 11 added that middle gear
Southwest does fly out if Ohare but not even close to the flights out of Midway.
Great video Captain. Thanx again.

Nice video
Southwest actually DOES go to O’hare, but only going to or coming from southwest hubs like BWI or BNA and etc
Thanks
No peanuts on that flight lol
