      Yes sir. I have been to Okinawa and it does get quite warm. AC would come in handy!

      Researching A/C units for a step Van camper build. Would one of these 12v or 115v marine A/C units be possible for installation on it? They’re like half the price of the RV ones lol

    Hi MV- Is the 16k BTU unit still running ok? Will the unit cool ok on a lower fan speed? I see they offer a 3 speed fan and I like that idea as my 16k unit is just one speed fan and noise level is high? Do you have a Db (sound) app on your phone that you could report sound levels at different fan speeds? Thanks for your youtube it was helpful.

    • @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101
      @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101  2 года назад

      I was recently at the boat when it was cool out and did noticed the speed reduced as it went closer to the target temp. So Its atleast 2 speed. Its still working flawless. Very happy with it. As far as sound I have not measured but I can say its much quieter than my old Cruisair model. The vast majority of sound comes from the actual air moving. And there are ways to quiet things down if needed. Next time im down there illl try the Db app.

      @@mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101 Thanks MV, another question if I may, I asked this of the manufacturer but no reply from them at all. Could you let me know the outside diameter or inside diameter of the air outlet please, it may be easier for the outside diameter as your unit is already installed. It does state 6" diameter in drawings but not sure if that is inside an or outside dimension. I want to build an adapter to fit my current duct box to connect to the Marinaire outlet and want to plan in advance to see what I can come up with before getting a new unit.
      Glad to see it is still running well as there were a few negative comments on the net about their units although the majority were positive.

      @@mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101 I just learned that many of the 3 fan speed AC units on the market cycle into heat mode (using the reversing valve) if necessary to act as a type of defrost on the evaporator. This would likely only happen after unit cycles in to low fan when on cool setting for a while. This would put more cycles on the reversing valve's life , however, I have heard that if a unit uses the reversing valve for heat mode that is is a good idea to put the unit into heat mode to exercise the reversing valve once a month, this may only apply to units with a single speed fan unit.

    So you mentioned a sea water connection, does this mean you need to install a thru hull-sea strainer and pump? Also how have you found the reverse cycle (heat production) now that you have run the unit for a year. Thanks in advance for any additional information you can provide. Cheers from the Pacific Northwest.

    • @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101
      @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101  2 года назад +1

      Since I was removing a previously installed unit I already had a thru hull with sea strainer as well as a March pump. If you are installing for the first time you will need to add those items and will need a haul out. The heat works great and we do use it. I don't know how cold it can be and still produce usable heat though since I'm in Florida. I have had it now for 2 plus years and not a glitch. I do recommend them.

    What is the start up wattage? I'm looking for ac that will operate from my 3000 Victron inverter

    • @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101
      @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101  3 года назад

      I have never measured directly. I hear a standard Honda 2200 inverter gen can run it. All I know is my Westerbeke 4000 watt gen has no issues. I plan to see if the Ryobi 2300 inverter will run it as well. My guess is that yes a 3000 watt Victron would probably do it.

    What size is the duct work? 6 or 4 inches

    • @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101
      @mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101  3 года назад +1

      The main duct is 6 inches. But there is a 4 inch feed to the V berth as well. I think I am going to add another duct somewhere. I believe I could let it flow a bit more to prevent back pressure.
