The Cult album "Love" has many great songs other than Santuary, from Hollow Man to Brother Wolf Sister Moon. Just great vocals and guitar riffs, still my favorite Cult album.
Growing up I had a good friend in the mid 80’s his dad had a huge Vinyl collection going back to Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Zeppelin, and so many more. When he would put The Cult on it stuck with me as the entire sound and energy was so unique. I am so thankful for those experiences that help form my well rounded Eclectic music appreciation

They have nothing in common but this means, I think, that when any kind of music is good and gives you positive vibrations, it doesn't matter if it is Rock or Pop or Classic.... We finally had cable TV installed in 1985, and as soon as it was activated, The Cult "She Sells Sanctuary" was the first image that appeared right from the video's beginning. That was my first time discovering them and I was really enjoying the moment!

It’s very interesting to hear how much Ian’s accent has changed over the years. His singing voice has taken a bit of a beating over the years but it’s hardly surprising with the lifestyle & passing decades. This interview would be from the period that we were seeing The Cult on every tour in places like St Austell and Brighton Top Rank. The epic gig that I’ll never forget was Brixton Academy on their return from the US. The Phoenix whilst sitting on my best mate’s shoulders. Seared into my memory. Fucking unforgettable.
Kids in the distant future will find this and, hearing it for the first time, will feel the same as we did those decades ago. Many bands create a masterpiece and this is the Cult's!

I went out the next day and bought 'Sun King', weed, powder and Jack Daniels. I woke up Sunday morning to find half naked strangers laying around my home. I had no idea how they go there.
I met the group back in 1987 in sea croft at the windmill hotel , they was staying there before there concert in Leeds, I had the privilege of having a few drinks with band , me and Ian was playing on the fruit machine together and sharing a few laughs , Always been a fan of the band , great band.
Yesterday it was 40 years since Death Cult made their live debut. They performed in my hometown of Oslo, Norway. I don't remember why I was there, but I was 🙂

I think other popular bands were jealous of the cult because Ian was so good looking and talented and his voice was great and his dance moves were better than a lot of rock stars out there. Got to see The Doors w/Ian Astrbury as frontman in Vegas 2003 & it was truly incredible. Bit of would have really loved to see the Cult 💓
That's where all got his look and moves. Ian looked natural all the others looked like they copied Ian.
I think other popular bands were jealous of the cult because Ian was so good looking and talented and his voice was great and his dance moves were better than a lot of rock stars out there. I don't think I've ever seen anybody move as as great as he did. I think that's why they didn't take notice of him. ❤

I loved the whole band, but Ian just had it all..the voice, the moves the looks. When he dressed in all black, with that long, black straight mane flying around, he reminded me of a sexy native american man riding shirtless on a wild horse through the plains or dancing around a ring of fire!! He also favored Jim Morrison too!🔥
@@AlexAlcyone Boy was he ever! I can't believe I never thought of that! I wonder if he was offered the role. He had that moody look like Jim...same body type, hair, face, dress and voice! Thanks for bringing that to my attention! Val did a good job acting, but Ian really favored him more in the face. Now, I want a see a re-make with Ian!

I actually got to see him perform a couple of summers ago. It was a privilege. One of the greatest voices ever.
I saw him a few years ago and he looked more like a homeless guy than a rockstar
I wish I could have gone to one of his earlier shows for sure. He had a hard time getting through most of their songs.
