- This is my reaction to The Cult live 2024 in Prague. DO they still rock? In this concert review, I dive into their live performance, the energy of the band, and how they stack up against their legendary past. Does The Cult still have the magic live on stage? Watch to find out!
This concert took place in Prague/Praha in the Czech Republic in July 2024 and was part of The Cult's 8424 European tour 2024.

From the powerful guitar riffs of Billy Duffy to the iconic vocals of Ian Astbury, this concert was a nostalgic journey. But did they meet expectations? I'll discuss the setlist, crowd interaction, and the overall atmosphere. Plus, I'll touch on the band’s history, their influence on rock music, and much more.
The Cult are an English rock band formed in Bradford in 1983
Thanks for watching and tell me if you ever saw THE CULT live and how it was?

@@metalandrockzone I've seen the Cult 3 times in the 90's. First was in support of Ceremony at the Pacific Coliseum in Vacouver. Told my parents we were going to a motorcycle show at another stadium. It was great. Then the at a smaller arena in Vancouver but got close and Ian asked for smokes and he caught my pack lol ( terrible habit kids) which was awesome at 19-20 yrs old. Lastly at a free show downtown for some charity but was intimate and different. Love this bad. Great writing and vocals and well, Billy is a legend period!
@@deanb4799 Cool, what did you smoke back then? I found half a pack of Marlboro when I was 7 or 8 so that was my first but then became a Camel man later. We rarely got any bands to Iceland back in the day, my first concert was Whitesnake with Slaughter in 1990 two nights in a row, I was wasted in cowboy boots and a horrible leather jacket but I thought I was the coolest guy in town!
I saw them for Sonic Temple and Ceremony in Vancouver too. The ST show was far more engaged and energetic, the entire sold out place was on their feet the whole time.
I gotta say, Ian's vocals have never been perfect live, but this footage I'm seeing from EU in 2024 is leagues better than other, older concert footage out there. Something's changed and it feels like a huge improvement recently.
Was lucky enough to catch them several times, including our first tour of America and they kicked ass I think about eight times from New York to Florida and they still have it. Somebody threw a drink at him. I was in the front row standing up and he could’ve went ballistic, but he was cool. He actually helped him get a little bit more into the show after he got the guy kicked out. I even caught him when I was working on a show with the doors and I’m sitting backstage with him. I asked him again to hear any cold stuff tonight. He goes to the home unfortunately not.
Just saw them play at Ceasars in windsor...turns out the Cult are total Satan worshippers. Yup. So bad we had to walk out. And I grew up listening to the Love album. I was very excited to go and ultimately bumbed out when they came out with the song "lucifer". Check out the lyrics and you tell me you can pay good money to go see that. Then they doubled down dedicating firewomen to Satan. In this light they then played the rain and now I know it's not about the rain at all and about a sexual act. Extremely disappointed.
One of the greatest bands ever. Should be in the rocknroll hall of fame for sure!
I am sure they will be inducted there one day
@@metalandrockzone I can't believe they haven't as of yet. And, I'm with you, I fell in love with Billy and his White Falcon right from the start too.
drop the RNR HO Shame already. that piss stain has gotten dusty.
could not agree more!
Who gives a crap about thr R&R HOF‼
I saw the Cult in 2019 and they were fantastic. I will be seeing the Cult again live on Sept. 6th in Toronto !
Enjoy! Great band
The Cult means to me my teenage years
They still rocks!
Legendary band
I've seen The Cult so many times live , and they always kick ass !!! 🤘🤘🤘
🤘
Ian still knows how to put on a show and get the crowd going at age 62! Undoubtedly one the best frontmen ive ever seen
Yes he is pretty amazing
I saw the cult the other day in Auckland Spark Arena , they blew the stadium roof off. Ian worked the crowd and Billy just shredded the band just rocked the NZ crowed.
Thats great to her, the band seems to be in top form!
Great job on this review!
The Cult still rocks their asses off! I love this band! I’ve seen them live many, many times over the years & I believe they have weathered many storms & come out victorious! The Cult RULES forever!
Yes I think this is one of those bands that could have thrown in the towel a million times for good but are still out there and apparently this tour is a success because I am getting good feedback on them from multiple cities. Thanks for watching
Saw them this year in Spokane, Washington. Took.my 15 year old son
It was his first concert. We were front row right in front of the stage. Ian and Billy were 3 feet from us. It was THE BEST show I've seen. I've been a huge Cult fan for over 30 years and have seen them several times. This show was freaking magical.
Sounds great! Must have been a blast for your boy as well
I was at that same show and also took my 15 year old son, Cult kicked ass and we had a blast.
Oh, your comment just made me so happy. I go see them in Salem tonight and this is the best seats for any show I’ve ever had front row unfortunately my kids are grown and live in other states otherwise I would love to take them to this show.
Saw them live on Friday. Dream come true. Great band. I missed some songs on the set list, like Lil' Devil, but all in all, it was a really good show and I left a happy man.
Subscribed.
yes would have loved to see Lil Devil, Peace Dog and Sun King added but can't really complain, was a great show. Tack för att du tittade på min video och prenumererade
Saw them last night in Adelaide.. oh God.. on a school night too. Brilliant, BRILLIANT gig. They sure got the sold out venue moving 🙏 My first time, hopefully not my last.
great to hear, this seems to be an amazing tour they are having
Wow lucky you
I'm 52 and my favorite album of all time is The Cult - Love from 1985. I first heard it in 1987 and was permanently hooked on it. My favorite song from Love is "Hollow Man."
I saw The Cult live in 2001 on the Beyond Good And Evil tour at the House Of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and it was amazing. They played an incredible set of songs everyone knew and Loved and I got to meet Ian after the show outside behind the venue. He was standing outside the bands' tour bus signing autographs. He was really nice and in a very happy mood and he signed a dollar bill for me! I handed him the one dollar bill and asked him to sign it and he smiled and jokingly said "OH, but I only sign twenties" so I replied "But you're number one with me Ian!" and he laughed and happily signed it for me. It was a great experience and I let him know that Love is my favorite album of all time!
haha thats a cool story, you still have that bill?
@metalandrockzone I sure do! I keep it in the CD booklet inside my Beyond Good And Evil CD case.
awesome album, for me, "Electric" is just killer, fave track from them is "Outlaw" followed by "Painted on my Heart"
Saw them in Sweden Friday Aug 2, 2024. GREAT show - AND I caught one of Ian's tambourines. Have been listening to them for almost 40 years now and seen them quite a few times. Great band!!!!
So now with the tambourine, you will be starting a Cult cover band?
Absof***inglutely 😅😅😅@@metalandrockzone
Saw them in Windsor, ON last night and they killed. Solid show, Billy was phenomenal as always and Ian was very pleasant to the crowd. Invited us all up to the stage from everywhere to join in and have fun, and it was fun!
Sounds like that was fun! This tour seems to be a big success for them
I saw them at the Sports Palace in Mexico City the first time they set foot on Aztec soil, back in 1992. It was amazing and spectacular. Long live The Cult.
Wow that must have been amazing back then! Thanks for watching
Yes they do without question, considering they've been at this over 40 years its commendable
🤘
I was at this gig and I’ve been to their gigs since I was a teenager in London. I thought they were really great that night. His voice has come back over recent years - there was a time when I thought he had lost it. The microphone drop - he laughed about it. Not sure what you saw. Billy Duffy was his usual awesome self.
Yes this was a great gig, much better than I had dared to imagine
I’ve seen the Cult 4 times, all in California. First time at Irvine Meadows, opening song little Devil.
2nd Long Beach. Sonic Temple released. song: New York City Universal Amphitheater, same tour & song. Last Universal Amphitheater, Ceremony. They were so bad ass in the 80’s.
yes these guys were the cool kids amongst all the hair metal stuff bands
I’ve seen them too many times to count.
Fun fact: I got to hang out with Ian while he was recording his solo album Spirit Light Speed in Palm Springs, California. The nicest human being. ❤
Cool, happy to hear he is nice, it is not something one can be sure of when you see him on stage.
Great video, thanks!! I was there as well, I loved the venue and the sound! Fireee, great voice!:))
Yes I think I saw you there! I think in the future there should be a camera on me as well as the bands
I first heard the cult in toronto canada , instantly hooked, bought a cassette back with me to U.S and played it at parties and everyone like whos this? Got alot of people hooked.
yes I recall when I heard them the first time from my sister, I felt these were the coolest cats
Seeing them in Sydney in December. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the great review 🤘🇦🇺
Yes you will have fun for sure, thanks for watching
Saw them in 1984 on their Dreamtime tour and for a few tours after that for various albums then again in 2024 in Perth...took my son this time who absolutely loved it....was so awesome to see them again after so long
Yes must have been interesting to see the difference from 40 years ago!
@@metalandrockzone Yeah I saw them after they had gone from Southern Death Cult to Death Cult and then just The Cult, obviously much younger then as was but for me they totally still have it, was just an amazing experience to see them again especially with my son loving it so much.....as per your experience the support group were pretty dreadful lol
Saw them with Bush, STP and Julien K and it was amazing. It rained hard and no one cared. The cult absolutely slayed
Cool, great lineup!
I still love them!
🤘
I have seen them four times. The first time was in England at City Hall in Newcastle upon Tyne on the Electric tour so early 1987. Then I saw them in 1989 opening for Metallica on the And Justice for All tour at Deer Creek Music Center in Noblesville. Indiana. I saw them again in 1992 on the Ceremony tour in Phoenix, Arizona at Desert Sky Pavilion. Lenny Kravitz opened the show. The last time was in 2001. The Cult opened for Aerosmith on their Just Push Play tour at Assembly Hall in Champaign, Illinois. All were great. I would love to see them a fifth time. Such a great band. One of my favorites from the 80s.
Wow that sounds really cool that you have seen them at such different points in time. Which gig was best?
Possibly the first one but it is difficult to say. I bought my ticket from a touter. All were great but seeing them as headliners is different. The Aerosmith show was significant since it was shortly after 9/11 here in the US.
I'm in L.A. California and I've seen them 5 or 6 times over the last 20 years or so and they always put on a great show! Like you I got into them when Sonic Temple came out and I believe Billy is the heart of this band. Nice shirt you're wearing, I have the same one. ❤
Yes and it seems that on this tour everyone who comments really likes what they are seeing. I hope they come around sooner than later again. Thanks for watching!
Saw the cult in the late 80's early 90's and the 2006 reunion. There was nothing like seeing sonic temple live. It was a band that crossed over well with punk, metal guys, we all just loved the cult.
Yes they had something extra, some cryptonite
Your sister is right. He is perfection. Saw them play last year and they were awesome. ❤
Thanks for watching, I will tell her that she was!
Have seen The Cult several times over a few decades ( in Australia). Never, ever been disappointed and really looking forward to seeing them again at the end of November..because it's been a long time between visits to my State. The Cult is the ultimate rock story imo... (and I personally like Ceremony regardless..)
Well I am sure you will enjoy because they seem to be having a great tour now. Wouldn't mind that they came around here again soon. Thanks for watching
I want to attend the Cult someday. The singer is awesome and clears it up well!!!!
yes great live band
I see The Cult Tonight in Victoria BC Canada 🇨🇦 for first time. I know be amazing
Yes I am sure you will enjoy! Thanks for watching
Went to see them at The Colston Hall in Bristol (now named Beacon) the other Sunday,
They were brilliant...& Billy Duffy,..outstanding
Great, seems to be a succesfull tour
I will be attending there concert Sept 13, 2024 here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada............. they are a kick the bucket list band for me!
Great, hope you will enjoy!
Wonderful well balanced review well worth a watch thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
Talented aged men with the craft & energy.. only to leave the audience in awe…
🤘
Great honest review as always - keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching
saw them in Melbourne, Australia a few years back ... loved them ... loudest gig i've ever been to.
great live band it seems!
Another old school fan, I'm going to see them in 2 days from now, the last time they came to New Zealand was 9 years ago and I missed it
Yes I am pretty sure you are going to love it, this seems to be a great tour they are having
1987, Electric tour, first band I ever saw live, was magic. Got tickets to see them later in the year at the Roundhouse in London. Thanks for the review, cheers
Great that you saw them back then! We never got bands like this to Iceland when I was growing up unfortunately.
Great review, thank you!! Hope to run into you at Brutal next week.
yes lets meet up there, email me at metalandrockzone@gmail.com
I saw them last night in Melbourne 🎉 awesome band!! They w definitely still got it. They’re hot, hot, hot!
Glad to hear it was good, would love to get a chance to see them again in the next 2-3 years. Best regards to Melbourne, was there a few years ago, great city
@ I’d love be able to see them again, too. Fingers crossed they continue to tour
Thanks for the review, I'm looking forward to seeing them in Vancouver in September. I was lucky enough to get row 6 and from your video, it looks like I will be on Billy Duffy's side of the stage!
That will be awesome, I would have loved to be closer to the stage. Enjoy
Just saw them in Warsaw and will be at the Vancouver show in September. Should be a good night.
Yeah, they still rock and I get to go see them tonight in Salem Oregon front row seats and I cannot wait❤
ENJOY 🤘
They are still bad ass‼No need to go into detail‼
So I could have just skipped making a video !
I Saw the Cult live on the Electric Tour, at Portsmouth Guildhall. Got a ticket to see them this year, 1/11/24 at Portsmouth Guildhall. The Cult 8424 - 40th Anniversary Tour. Great Band💀💀💀💀
Wow thats cool you get to seem them with all these year apart at the exactly same venue! Enjoy
Nice venue. I saw Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson there for Geddy's book tour in December. Portsmouth is a great town.
me too! March 1987 - I believe, ticket cost £5! I've seen them a dozen times since.
Saw them a few weeks ago in London. They were absolutely brilliant.
yes this seems to be a great tour they are having
I see them at least once a year. They still bring it!!
Thats brilliant, I wouldnt mind seeing them 1 pr year!
Yes. They do.
Underrated.Saved me in the 80’s.My first live concert.
Not my first with them
Yes to extend underrated I agree. Not sure why
seeing them this weekend! Great review txs!
Thanks for watching and I am sure you are going to love it in the weekend.
I watched them in Zagreb and in the Opatija Croatia, they were great. Rock on 🙂🤘
Somebody had said the sound there was too low on volume?
Wow, I last saw The Cult on August 3rd, 1987 as they were supporting Billy Idol . Have to say, both acts were damn good. Glad to see they are still giving it their all. Odd that a band never seems to keep its drummer though.
Yes the drummer position there has been a bit of a revolving door
I saw the same line up in Denver Colorado, I had never heard of The Cult before. But the next morning I was a the record store to pick up Electric. Still a fan to this day. Love Removal Machine is still my jam of choice.
Saw Cult live in Atlanta Georgia in 2001. First heard Cult in college about 1982 at UGA. Still a fan.
Great, Thanks for watching
Your right man i seen them in Sudbury Ontario in 89 Sonic Temple, then seen them years later in Vancouver BC at the Comador Ball Room They rock
yes they do! Thanks for watching
Glad to see your review. They were in my city a week ago, but the show was sold out, I couldn't get tickets, it's been sold out for more than 2 months... I'll try another time.
Yes they seem to be putting up a good performance this time around as far as I can see from the feedback. Thanks for watching
Saw them in Dublin a few weeks ago ago and it was unbelievable how good they were. They are phenomenal!
Yes more or less everyone is saying that so they are obviously having a great tour
Thanks for the review! I have tickets to see The Cult next month here in Canada. \m/
Enjoy 🤘
9/10 concert rating...I am very happy I just bought tickets. Perth, Western Australia!
Thats great to hear, I am pretty sure they will be great there as well. Thanks for watching and best greetings to your beautiful country.
See you there. I’ll be the old git in jeans and a t shirt!!
Seeing them across trhe way in Melbourne, going to rock off to this one!
Fuck YEAH! They SITLL ROCK. Love from PORTUGAL.
Yes this tour seems to be going really well for them, thanks for watching!
Saw them last nite in Vancouver at Vogue theatre… Bangin show… LOVE THESE GUYS🔥🔥🔥
Yes this is an amazing band for sure, thanks for watching
Enjoyed watching this.
Seeing The Cult again later this month in Swansea 🏴⚡️⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏼
You will have fun, not one person that has commented on this video (that saw them on this tour) has been unhappy.
I love the Cult have seen them twice. Last time Ian seemed a bit annoyed the crowd wasn't going nuts. I was thinking hey dude it's your job to get the crowd going.
Yes he is a very interesting character on stage. Thanks for watching
Saw them for the first time last year with the death cult tour.ians voice was really strong that night but yeah he can be hit and miss.going this year again and very excited.such an amazing band.
Yes he has a very thick voice, he really filled the room here in Prague. Thanks for watching
@metalandrockzone thanks for the review mate
Just saw them this evening in Salem, OR, USA. Same exact set list and Ciao Edie acoustic. Haven’t seen them since 95 or so in Seattle and 90 in Tacoma for my first time. Really enjoyed seeing them this evening and they were great for what they are at this point. Still one of my favorite bands of all time!
Yes this band seems to be aging well!
Great assessment. Have seen them 3 times in last few years. Once in Las Vegas at Chelsea, and twice in my hometown of San Diego.
I need to get myself to Vegas and see a rock band there, the closest thing I have been to that is when I saw a Beatles cover band at planet hollywood! Thanks for watching
Thanks brother for the review 🤘🏼
Thanks for watching 🤘
The Cult’s bass player is Robert Plant’s former Son-in-Law, and former bassist.
I’ll be seeing the Cult on Saturday.
Thats really cool, didn't know that. Thanks for watching and enjoy Saturday!
The people who were into the Cult in the late 80's were the coolest people alive. In Melbourne there were heaps of goths and alternative people, where are they now? I feel sad and alone like a teenager when I hear this music now in 2024.😢
I am not sure where they are now but I think a few of them came at least to the gig I went to see :)
I'm going to see The Cult live tonight with my Daughter and Granddaughter, and I will try to remember to check back in and put up how they sounded to me. Good review!
Yes please do so, I am though almost willing to bet that they will be amazing, everyone who has seen them on this tour and commented here seems to be having a great time.
@@metalandrockzone It was great. The sound in the room was excellent. We went to stand on the side of the room to see better during my most favorite songs. So the visibility from the back part of the room was the only problem. They still rock it!
Yes they most certainly still rock! Great that you had a good time and hope your girls also enjoyed. They have a cool mom/grandma!
I saw them just before lockdown in the UK, then just after lockdown when they were supporting Alice Cooper. Finally just last Friday, 25th October. Each time better than the last and Ian was on top form on Saturday, superb voice.
thanks for watching
good, get to the point review, going to see their gig tonight in Warsaw. 9/10 verdidct just made me even more looking forward. Good job !
How was it in Warsaw?
Top band seen loads of times - next one is in Manchester in October
A City fan in my comments! Enjoy the show
Seeing them for first time in Sydney in December can't wait
It will be great I am sure, enjoy
Saw them last week in Sydney - excellent gig. Would’ve loved another song off the ‘94 black sheep album (which is a great album imo) but it still rocked.
yes they seem to be having a great tour
Going to see the Cult in Christchurch nz in a couple of weeks…. Can’t wait!
I am almost willing to bet it will be amazing!
Great vídeo, my der friend! Very good!
Thank you ! 🎸🤘
@@metalandrockzone Cheers! 🤘🫶😉
Saw them in 89 and it was really good-my girlfriend and I bonded so hard over this band back then. Theyve aged better than alot of rockers in their age. Give me some Dreamtime in the setlist! haha
Yes that is actually a good point, compared to some of the bands out there from the same era they are actually pretty near the top. Thanks for watching
Just saw them last night in Auburn WA. I agree 100% with your review. Billy is amazing. The rhythm section was solid. Ian was, well…, glad he was there but miss younger Ian for sure. Same exact set list. Good show 8/10 for me.
Great to hear, everyone seems to be happy with them on this tour.
CFFC
Saw them 38 years ago for the first time
Gonna see them tomorow in Tilburg 🤘
Enjoy tomorrow!
Saw them a month ago...great performance...Ian is on fire...awesome frontman
Yes they seem to be having a great tour this year. So happy I went to see them. Thanks for watching
About to see them at Sydney Opera House in November. An iconic venue for an iconic band 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
That will be cool, such a nice building! Enjoy
Saw them last night, brilliant! If you get a chance, see them.
Yes great band, nobody seems to be disappointed in how they perform on this tour
Going to see them in Warsaw tonight and then in Vancouver in September. Can't wait for both!
Enjoy, let me know how it was in Warsaw!
@@metalandrockzone Outdoor venue, crazy beer lines, good sound, kind of a quiet crowd. Ian sounded good, Billy was powerful as ever. Ian kind of lost the crowd a few times though in his banter. In the end, they barely played an hour and that was disappointing.
It is often tricky here in this region with the banter, specially the UK artists, I feel the crowd often doesn't get it somehow and then it is a total turn off.
@@metalandrockzone That's exactly what happened. And then he didn't understand their lack of response. I understood him perfectly and knew what he was talking about and it still barely made sense.
@@scott-ryanabt6039 Well he did not make a lot of sense here in Prague with what he said but it didn´t matter as most of the crowd doesnt understand english
Loved them since the begining. Most underrated band ever. Should of been in hall of fame a long time ago. Last show I saw was a few years ago. I still miss Chris Wise thou.
Yes it is interesting how you rarely hear this band mentioned amongst the best of them which they for sure are
Love, love, love this ♥️
❤
Saw them 1980 something at Newcastle City Hall - brilliant xxx
I can imagine that
Great review i saw the cult open for metallica in 1993 great show and i think that Ian always have been that way by saying things to the crowd that dont really make sense but one of my favorite rock bands
that must have been a great combo.
I’m going to see them in Swansea Wales next month. It will be my 100th Cult gig!!!!
Wow that is pretty impressive
@@metalandrockzone thank you. Obviously I am a total votary of the band. Met them a few times too. Best gig ever? Scotch of St James, London. Tiny venue. The band invited the UK’s most hardcore fans to attend. I was literally standing opposite Ian and Billy. What a night! Also in the Royal Albert Hall gig in 2009, Ian gave me the mic to sing the chorus of Fire Woman which I did, and then this twat nicked the mic from me. It’s on RUclips. Check it out!
hahahaha checked the video, this is so cool, you should have a band though! You got some pipes
@@metalandrockzone 🤣🤣🤣🤣Thank you!!!!
Going to see them in a week!!!
Enjoy !
Seeing them next month in Windsor CA can’t wait!
I am sure it will be great, Enjoy!
Attended their show last night in Tilburg, the second time I saw them live. This is my all time favorite rockband, but last night I didn’t feel their energy whatsoever. First time I saw them live was at Pinkpop 1992, the famous show where they closed the festival, but didn’t want to leave the stage. They ended up jamming with Pearl Jam. Last night Ian barely sang his lyrics… But I still love these guys.
Maybe Ian is running out of steam, been a lot of shows now...
love the Cult, maybe my favorite alltime band, saw them open for Billy Idol just after the electric album and then 2 more times on the sonic temple tour, great review, and yes Ian Astbury is eccentric as is Billy Duffy, and once again I like your review style
Oh that must have been great to see them back at the Sonic Temple tour! Thanks for watching
Off to see them on in York on Tuesday ❤
hope you will enjoy
Seen them yesterday in Swansea Arena. They did Rock I agree 9/10 or maybe a 10 Billy Duffy played superb and Ian rocked the show I was happy I went Mike Peters Alarm was good too long live Rock😂😂😂😂
This seems to be a veeery long tour! But all I see is positive feedback
Thanks, great review. Last time I saw the band I also felt compelled to step in and help out on Fire Woman. It's good to give something back!
yes I just think we should be credited for some of this backing vocals work!
I'm a massive cult fan - have been since the Love album - but I would be potentially most excited about seeing Charlie Jones and John Tempesta as they are absolutely world-class musicians.
yes and create a great backbone to the bands live peroformance
To this day, The Cult are one of our favorite bands. However, never seen them live due to scheduling. Thanks for the review brother!🙏🏻🎧
You are welcome. I am very glad I finally got to see them after all these years. Thanks for watching
Love. Remover machine My favorite!!!
🤘 great song
Saw the cult first time 84 London... Hammersmith odeon... Love removal tour...
Nice!
Saw them at Pinkpop in 1986 just before the release of Electric. they played a few new songs which appear on electric but those were not the electric rock versions. More like the Love album. Got them on cassette somewhere. Next Tuesday we've got tickets for Paradiso. Can't wait.
Enjoy Tuesday!
@@deHaasReclame that would’ve been a great time to see them!
