  • Phantom 4 pro flight, long range 2.71miles until aircraft auto returns home. Almost got there, maybe if I'd been a little higher?
Nice cross country flight anyway, filmed in D - Log and colourised in the edit. Speeded up to 3 times for most of the trip.

Epic flight John. Wonderful countryside. Shame you lost signal, as I was enjoying the view over the reservoir :-)

I bought a set of those parabolic reflectors to try and extend the range, I'll give them a try next time I go.

Great footage I have often wondered where we used to swim In the Derwent around this area when I was a kid In the late 60's we used to just call it combs bridges but I have looked for the pool but never found It, I think it might have been called the black pool using a drone might be a good way to find It. Might have to invest!

Thanks Frank. If you scroll forward to 55 seconds, on the right hand side of the screen you'll see Combfield House, Black Pool is a few hundred yard to the left of that, which means my drone more or less passes right over it. Unfortunately the camera doesn't look down at the time.

@@assessorjohn Cheers John I'm over the moon now after a few year looking for where we went swimming after watching your great drone footage I had another more educated idea today and found it canny hike down but thats to be expected in a deep gorge it was fantastic and just like I remembed apart from the crowds that used to be there!

@@frank-ju4ce That's great, I'm so glad you found it. I've never been there and I couldn't find it on the OS maps, I had to look at Durham county council's 'Keys to the past maps' for black pool before I could work out roughly where it is in relation to the drone flight. Funny that it's on the old maps but not the new.

@@assessorjohn I think that might be because it was a popular getaway years ago, when I was a kid we used to get a lift in my mates dads car from Leadgate and it was hard to get parked on the road nearby because it was so popular, nobody there yesterday but there was still a couple of rope swings hanging over the pool from an ancient oak tree, so maybe does get some visits these days!

Hi Nick, I finally made a second try at Healeyfield lane to Derwent reservoir, I made it but only just got back! As I told you I would, I tracked the drone Westwards a little and crossed over your place this afternoon. New video is here: ruclips.net/video/yI64nyml19k/видео.html it might be a little bit blurry until it finishes processing - usually a couple of hours after uploading.

Thank you for watching, I'm really pleased you enjoyed the flight. I removed the second flight across Muggleswick as I received a complaint from someone called Barry Phillips who started his complaint with 'We the residents' so presumably there was more than just him. I have to accept that the drone was probably inside the 50m minimum distance from Calf Hall and some of the houses in Muggleswick. It's now been reset to 'unlisted', you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/yI64nyml19k/видео.html I'll go and have a look for the sprinting horses although I have no idea what an 'all weather gallo'p is :)
