Had this in the 80s. Fuckin blew me away first time I heard it. This and Step on it LP. Godfathers of Oi - core whether they know it or not. I don't think anyone had blended Oi and hardcore together like this til Slapshot.

@Jennifer Dana I said "Oi - CORE"!.. Its a thing, has been for years, and Slapshot basically started it.
Been listening to em since late 80s. I had Step on it album and Back on the map.. If you look close at album cover of Step on it. Jack Kelly has shaved head and dressed like skinhead, cause he was a X edge skinhead briefly back then. Him and the other guys in the band liked Oi since the 80's.Also I was DIRECTLY informed on a Oi! page I manage by an ex member of Negative FX that they had a Oi influence on their music since Neg FX days... Stars n Stripes ----> the American Oi band Choke and the other guys from Slapshot started up is literally the Oi! band they had always wanted to do.. Neither Jack or any of his skinhead friends in Boston scene were never white power or Nazi. Jack. K has always been anti racist , as a skinhead or as just a fella in h/c scene. S.H.A.R.P. was created in NYC by non racist/anti racist skins in NYC fed up with being tagged the same as Blood and Honour skins that were around in the 80s in big numbers from Uk to USA... Wanna keep arguing or do you get the picture now??..
@@kevinrhea7332 Effigies were barely hard rockin punk. early US punk rock at best , not blasting h/c and Oi blended like Slapshot in their glory days, nowhere near.
@BurzumVEVO ffs.... if you are asking why I replied to J Dana way I did .. she was trying to tell me Choke - Slapshot 'were racists at one time'.. with a couple comments she has since deleted. No doubt for realizing what utter bullshit she was talking to me, after I tried to set her straight politely, then not so politely after she insisted I was wrong about Choke and his phase as a skin on cover of Step on It. Rest is pretty much explained in the comment I left to her.

I'm 42, been into punk and hardcore since I was 12, slept on this band until last year, holy shit how did I go so long without hearing this. I of course heard Negative FX but I think there was just the whole sports correlation thing that turned me off. I was dumb. Every fuckin bit of Slapshot I've heard has been great. Thanks for that old tyme hardcore boys!

Yeah..same with me..The band name doesn't translate to a T-shirt real good..most people would think it is a hockey shirt..

Jack Choke Kelly...the best of Boston! Choke made hardcore a little meaner, dirtier, and rougher...watching Choke prowl the stage wielding a hockey stick was something to behold!
Social Justice, Insted, Uniform Choice & Slapshot @ the Reseda Country Club was a fun one.

I had the HONOR of opening up for this band in a no name VFW. You don’t know my bands name but you might know COA (Colin of Arabia). They were the second act.
Best moment of my life.
I am forever a hardcore white boy but this band fucking made it so.
This album has meant so much to me, and carried me through so much trauma.

More Oi! than HC, in my opinion .
@@MsBricktop80 cross over Oi! and hardcore, = Oi - core , Slapshot basically created it back in mid late 80s, never really took off til mid 2000's and now with bands like Sick of Society, S.S.S.P, No Time, PMS 84 etc. One of the guys from Negative FX told me himself they were influenced by Oi music that far back. Check out their Oi side project band - Stars n Stripes
