Most likely sweating. That's the problem with especially the regular non-breathable raincoats. You're bound to be wet because of the condensate, there is little way for your sweat to evaporate through the membrane. Seems like GORE-TEX is mostly suited for hiking and other applications, in which you are not likely to perforate the laminate. I mean in rough-terrain conditions you are highly likely to cause the garment to perforate, so it makes little difference if it is breathable or not.
@@waichungsham1578 Agree - Open the zippers , wear a breathable poly blend AND wool blend shirt . The long proven Wooleypulley is still an excellent piece of kit .
@@LVMonstrs I had horrible experiences with GORE-TEX shoes. But apparently the lighter the shoe, the faster leaks appear, due to stress and friction. Same probably applies to other clothing as well. Anyway, my experiences with shoes have made me weary of touching GORE-TEX ever again.
I live in the PNW, in the winter hiking you're going to get soaked only difference is, with Gore-Tex it'll be sweat instead of rain. I always feel that sweat evaporates faster from your clothes than if rain-soaked.

All goretex needs to have vents so when the rain lets up you can air out the sweat. Ideally everything should flap open, i have the Greenzone Monsoon Small Pac pants which do that. I un-zip from the bottom and fan my legs out, UF Pro should definitely bring that Small Pac product back. I will buy more, make it in greenzone, ConCamo, black and Brown-grey.

Maybe im just unlucky, but every gortex jacket i got in the Marines would eventually soak through after an hour or two of heavy rain. They werent old jackets either, but maybe that production line was bad.
If it entirely soaked through, I think its just sweat more than anything else. The goretex membrane is basically just really small holes so its kinda impossible to build a jacket that can only stand a few hours. It either leaks or not. Of course Im not an expert but its probably sweat.
Thats Chinese infiltration right there, everything needs to be Berry compliant. They want to make sure we would be wet and low morale in any Asian jungle.
I just fitted new seam tape to my GORE-TEX bivvy bag. Dear God, I thought it was a good idea at 2300hrs. I finished at 0600hrs. Its a LONG job to get right, and I wont know if I got it right until I use it. Not going to lie, there is part of me that is thinking if this thing fails again, Im just going to wash it on a hot cycle, pound the seams with beeswax, and then drench it in Fabsil. Just saying.
All fabrics whatever brand of waterproof never dissipate heat out as hyped. You can't avoid sweating if not manually ventilate the inside air. The term "breathable" is absolute BS.
We understand your concern about breathability in waterproof fabrics. While it's true that no fabric can completely prevent sweating, many modern materials are designed to improve comfort by allowing some moisture to escape. However, individual experiences can vary. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our products. 😎🤙
I've been buying UF-PRO products for several years now. They are always my FIRST choice. Thank you for this informative video.
You are welcome, more coming up. Thanks for rocking our gear. 🔥
@Armin, I'm a UF Pro customer in the US. I was given an awesome UF Pro jacket as a birthday gift. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Charlie Foxtrott

Very good explanation of how gortex works. Keep up the good work fellas.
Great video.
Topics discussed, that many either take for granted and never think about.
Best video I've seen on this subject, thanks. Started using UF Pro a couple of years ago, no regrets, awesome kit.
This kind of technology wear keeps getting smarter and smarter by the day. UF Pro is among the best of choice.
So true. We always try to stay on top to provide top notch quality.
The real question is "Is my GOR-TEX leaking or am I just sweating?"
Exactly Correct .

Use your pit zips and wear a polartec alpha mid layer which keeps you warm when wet.

Is it necessary/good to impregnate the gore-tex garment after washing?
Hi Tellminator. It can help, especially with older and much used GTX garments. But please make sure that its also GTX compatible.

Good tutorial
10-12 hours of heavy rain very possible 6 months out of the year in western washington
The Best Tip is after washing is to put it for a short time into the dryer , it makes a day and night diffrence.
I wish uf pro did a US M81 pattern
Bill I disagree
Me too. In the Pacific Northwest it still works great, better than multicam

If you penetrate the membrane and feel wet after that...something went terribly wrong!
Gotta be careful. ;)
i think NeoShell by Polartec is better than Gore-tex and a bit cheeper
so at the end of the day ,,its no where near as breathable as it needs to be,,,,,there are far better options out there than gortex
