Horse owner here keep some of the mats ( maybe two stalls worth) as they are good for stopping cold coming up from the concrete floor, but put the rest on FB Market place and earn some money from them. Another horse tip is cover your water trough with a wooden top and then put a bucket size hole( head size ?) in the top the animals will drink through the hole stops the water turning greed and keeps it cleaner, If you can get some gutters on your barn and put in a rain water system for your middle barn. And for the future put some solar panels on the roof of the barn and it has its own electric which you can use as and when you need to.
I agree that exchanging 20 minutes of work to save $500 is time well spent. I'm sure that as you get accustomed to working on the farm you will discover many time and money saving tricks to be more productive and efficient. Happy to see that you are planning your strategies for improvement. You rock!
Hey Jason, why not make a rat wire, or hardware cloth wire cage around the feed bag. Something that has hinges on it on top and the middle back so you can open it up easily to put around each new feed tote bag you aquire. That's what I'd do so you don't have to shovel all of that into barrels!😊😊

Great video! I was snapping my fingers with the intro music! Put the rubber mats in your shop for standing on while you're working. Concrete is hard on your legs and the mats will help.

We’ve had amazing success with our “Claw Crew” barn cats taking care of smaller pests. Probably easier to shore up the barn so the bigger critters can’t gain access. Your barrel system is spot on though. We use steel trash cans too. Gotta protect ur birds bud, don’t wanna go thru all that work to feed the wildlife eh. 😊 🍻

A farmer friend of mine uses a 3 ton gravity wagon and buys his feed in bulk as well. A semi will come to his farm with a chute and load it for him. He covers it tightly with a vinyl tarp and has never had any spoilage. I know you don't have a tractor to move a wagon around but maybe the truck can move it with the right hitch. Projects just stack and stack and it can be easy to be discouraged. I’ll take a break for lunch after working all morning and see a video of yours and it’s like a proverbial cup of coffee. And I know the videos don’t show every hardship and rough time but it’s just a nice treat to see a solid family like y’all have built, succeeding. The horse mats could be something to put on floor of your wood shop area, they are great for cushioning the floor where you spend so much time.
We only have 20 meat birds but I agree totally with you Jason to do whatever we can to protect our home grown food. Might take some wire fencing and put around one section of the blackberries for you all and let the deer have the rest. Y'all have a great week and God Bless.
Jason, Trash panda's (raccoons) are a royal pain the butt. They love bird feeders, critter feed, trash cans, eggs, and chickens. We use cinder blocks to weight down our lids, and the blocks work real good. We also use bungee cords on totes.
That’s a good work out. Can’t imagine what organic feed coast right now. The price of feed has doubled and it’s starting to make me want to get rid of all my animals……. Not really but I’ve thought about it 😂.

You can also use a dead freezer to keep feed in. It keeps it dry and pest free.

I was expecting about 15 minutes per barrel! But WOW under 3 minutes is killer. I absolutely love seeing how your farm is expanding.
There’s an easy plastic hand held clip tool for moving those mats much easier-I’m a 77yr old woman and do it that way.

You should create a wire frame around the feed to protect it from critter & avoid filling up the barrel.
Sell the rubber mats which will pay for more feed.
