The Kingdom Hearts franchise is the acting in the "HAHAHAHA" scene from Final Fantasy X but spread across like 7 games.
They're really funny out of context and then they become extra funny because _some_ fans take those franchises _very_ seriously and get _extremely_ mad when people laugh at the out of context scenes because "IT MAKES SENSE IN CONTEXT!! IT'S NOT LAME STOP LAUGHING!!"
When honestly a funny out of context scene is a great way to get new people into a game because sometimes they do wanna see the context.

I miss him so much. Coney might not recognize his name or voice, but i know for a fact he be missing Jason too just from his Sonic performance in Brawl alone
Jason was on another level.
Jason makes me upset because he had some of Sonic's absolute BEST lines, but he also voiced Sonic in Sonic X and Sonic 06 which were *really* badly written Sonic gigs.
If he could perform Sonic with scripts as good as the Storybook series he absolutely would have been my favorite Sonic.

Tbf it was still being used pretty often well in to the 2000s. There's at least one episode I can think of off the top of my head of DBZ Abridged here on RUclips, where Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan are fighting the Ginyu force on Namek and it's going all Wrestlemania-esque and Vegeta asks "What kind of sadistic R-word watches this crap?".

It's such a niche genre of scene but there is something really cool about "dramatically fucking over an evil genie with your wishes in quick succession".
Jason went CRAZY in the storybook games, something came over him and it was fairly incredible.
Someone should've pointed out that that the Evil Genie Sonic sealed away was Sharah's Abusive Ex-Boyfriend that she still kinda had feelings for.

tbf keep in mind that a lot of the Japanese games winning, were more about voice acting and he was listening to the American voice actors who were a lot worse (from what I remember) than the Japanese voice actors which made their scenes that much funnier.
Except that Kingdom Hearts one, that was more funny on like a Monty Python, Black Knight sketch level. Where the funny thing is how ridiculously long it goes on for.

As much as I unironically love Kingdom Hearts, I will openly say that this is the most _"Tetsuya Nomura up his own ass"_ cutscene in the entire series
Because it's literally just a guy walking in almost complete silence for almost _four minutes straight_ only to drop some cryptic bullshit at the very end that only makes sense if you played the fucking handheld spinoff game

BBS wasn't even out when kh2fm originally came out in japan so that scene just *entirely* doesn't get explained until later anyway. Its a brand new scene, added to the rerelease of the game, and like, the most context you get for it is the secret ending of that very own game, which teases BBS. This entire scene is just a whole bunch of stupid nonsense. oh, and the fact that that scene is around the same time as the whole "they'll pay for this" moment too. Truly peak kingdom hearts nonsense around the midpoint of the game.
There's something so hilarious about coney's extremely specific "anime" hate, because he says with a straight face that he doesn't think japan is funny, while laughing at a sonic clip, a deadly premonition clip, a street fighter clip...
It's genuinely fascinating to see how his brain works.

@@Gohka my favorite thing is that even in KINGDOM HEARTS this is out of place. There's usually so much shit going on, or dialogue, or at least some banger music, but, no, man decided to take a stroll down the infinite staircase to sit in his gamer chair and talk to a straight up inanimate object.

I can defend Sonic 99% of the time. The rocket ship inside a pyramid makes more sense when you remember it's a pyramid that Eggman took over as a secret base, it makes infinitely more sense when you play the game. The Secret Rings clip with the mountain of tissues? I cannot defend that. It is hilariously stupid and I adore that they tried so hard to make that moment work. If a Sonic story doesn't work, all I hope is that it's earnest and entertaining. Absolutely goofy.
Mountain of hankies is a callback to something Sonic said near the beginning of the game, joking about wish for a hanky to blow his nose or something because of dust. But in the new context, he's asking for hankies when Shahra is having emotional issues over Erazor (her toxic ex) "dying" so SHE can let her emotions out and get over things at her own pace instead of him using the wish to wish away her pain.
Basically he wants her to grow from the experience rather than pretending it didn't happen or that she's not hurting. Or something like that.

If I remember correctly they're like at least partially magic. There's enemies later on that use an attack with the same name as those things that target magic defence.
But yeah, despite the game trying to hint at the fact the evil faction is one that comes from an ultra advanced lost society it's done pretty poorly and is only even relevent in one of the 3 routes, so you could not realize this shot until you're into your 3rd playthough lmao
@@TheWrathAbove That said, on the (actually two out of four) routes you go and attack them, the empress' assistant figured out their base's positioning based on the trajectory of the missile, explaining why they didn't just use it all the time. AND in the opening flashback cutscene, the same explosion effects are used, implying they just tried to use missiles on the church's armies as well. Fuck, the golden deer route was so good.
I cant believe the evil genie made a cameo in this episode and Sonic the Hedgehog beat his ass. Didn't even have to push no buttons.

I'm so glad someone posted the WWE 2012 clip where Triple H is having a phone call with Kevin Nash WHO IS IN THE SAME ROOM who proceeds to powerbomb him ON THE FLOOR, causing Triple H to just... get up and leave the room in a huff. That broke almost EVERYONE who played that game's story mode.

I think he means that moment is never mentioned again and in Triple H's arc he just never shows up ever again. But yeah the final arc of WWE '12s story mode might just be the best that WWE story modes have ever gotten, especially the final climax where your character spears Nash through the Hell in a Cell and then THROUGH THE RING

People forget the R word was very commonly used back in the day. I went to school in the early 2000s and kids said that shit all the time on the playground. It wasn't until the 2010s when we decided it was no longer acceptable.
Extra context for the wheelchamp: The Erazor Djinn is canonically the genie from Aladdin. He and Shahra were in a toxic relationship where he was the abuser. So Shahra was already crying out of grief when Sonic made the wish, he didn't wish for her to cry lol.
Also I can't believe we have had 2 of these and no one has submitted "What am I fighting for?" from Megaman X4.
To be fair to Coney, it was still considered a pretty strong word at the time, so seeing it in a capcom game is kinda wild.

Dead Rising as a series has to take the cake in terms of funniest cutscenes. Every cutscene the player character is in has the outfit he’s wearing currently carry over. If you’re wearing something stupid like a giant Lego head and mega man clothes or big horse mask and kid’s clothes, it’ll show up on your character no matter how serious the scene is.
The best part of that hitman clip is that’s how he ALWAYS talks to people who don’t know who he is, he is NOT slick about it

I love starting from 11:51 Coney has no idea what the fuck is going on but is playing along throughout the whole thing and totally getting into his role no matter how nonsensical and amateurish the cutscene is. From only watching compilations and not streams, I have likely heard mention of him having a kid before but I'd forgotten the fact. He must be an awesome dad to play with, his daughter is so lucky.
also he's cooking about these early PC games being either unintentional or way-too-effective nightmare fuel. they were a lot more limited in how much graphics and sound could be included so you'd have weird and fucked up shit happening, like being trapped inside a book and having your pages torn out, punctuated by complete and utter silence that just drove what happened home or put you in a state of horror and anticipation at something even more fucked up happening. not like today's horror that is just a constant stream of stimulation with occasional cheap jumpscares.
