As someone who played this game for the first time only a few years ago and actually loved it to death, it really does suck how frequently it gets blown off by modern fans I honestly think it's aged better than ALttP
@@IanZWhite00 I LOVE ALttP personally so at least for my personal opinion, I gotta disagree personally lol I think ALttP has more polish and direction than Zelda 1. However, that said, Zelda 1 is still a very well designed game with a cool sense of progression and cool design and mechanics. It not only established a series, but a genre, and the ability to go anywhere when you want but still have certain items needed to allow you to progress gives a unique experience that even many modern games don’t present in such a seamless way.

Zelda 1 is a great game for it's ideas and is actually fun to decipher now, but ALttP has that polish and more intricate world and adventure while still being much more accessible overall. Both great games and some of the best aging of their respective platforms
its really nice to see coney first experiencing a classic and youre never too old to play a game but a 33 year old man struggling with mega man 2's basic mechanics and having to rewind is the biggest brawl player moment i have ever seen

I mean I feel like Coney might unironically like kid Icarus uprising. Sure, it’s anime, but it doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and I know that’s his gripe with most anime games. Kid Icarus uprising’s story is a fucking wild joke and it knows it. Also it’s an on-rails shooter instead of a platformer, and the difficulty is adjustable for each stage, so it’s literally impossible to suck at
I ended up playing through it on Switch, with save states. It's kinda wild. There's a dungeon crawling segment before each boss, and the final boss is like a Gradius-style shoot 'em up. Weird game. Ambitious, though!

That said, hitting the Wily 1 jump was pretty hot and I hope we get to see some more of his Wily stages. (in particular I'd love to see how he reacts to 4)
