Paul Williams was the secret sauce for the 1960s Temptations -- his husky, smoky voice was part of those wonderful backing vocals on all of their classic hits. HIs best three lead vocals were "I Want a Love I Can See", "Don't Look Back", and "For Once In My Life" -- wish he had done more, but just be thankful for what we've got, right?
I don't know why "I want a love I can see" did not chart!! I listen to it often and it's a smash. I would definitely buy that record over a sandwich!🤭🤗🤚🏽🤚🏽Temptations forever ❤️
Paul Williams sang lead on The Temptations " Running away ain't gonna help you." And also, " Little Green Apples." Both songs from The Temptations " Message from the Black Man " Album.
Paul Williams is my favorite member of The Temptations. Many great artists have had alcohol problems. Just as many everyday people do. Unfortunately, it's not enough to tell someone to quit drinking. It's not that easy for them to do. There is a pain deep down that drives them to take refuge. I don't think there were as many ways to get help back then. Thank goodness, we can still enjoy the music and videos of the original Temptations, and see Paul dancing and singing and looking so great in those beautiful suits. I love when he sang: I Want a Love I Can See. RIP Paul.
Loved all the classic 5 but Paul was my absolute favorite. Wish he would have had more leads, but no matter, the Temptations were the best group ever. None have even come close to them.
Paul's mournful baritone wailing out front, gave as much of a solid lead voice to the sound of The Classic Five, as did Ruff's and E.K's. Another reason why that David Ruffin and the Temptations nonsense was ill-fated from the very beginning. Your reference to the Copa must be in regards to the "Live At The Copa" LP, recorded in late '67 right after the breakup, and issued in early 1968. That was indeed a showcase for just how strong Paul's influence was on the group's legacy, sound, and harmonies. Listen closely to I Could Never Love Another, and you clearly hear his third part voice below Otis and Eddie, and above Melvin's, anchoring that sweet harmony throughout the background. One of my all time favorite releases. I think of him every time I listen to it. Man, what I wouldn't give to see a video taped presentation of that performance; the smooth choreography, the stylish uniformity, and the chemistry created each time you brothers took the stage. In this case, it affirmed that the Tempts had moved on from the age of the Classic Five, and were entering into what would become their future era of sound. If such a video exists, and if it's available, please lobby Motown for its immediate release. Rest In Peace Paul, E.K., Ruff', Blue, and also Dennis. Your voices will still be heard long after we're all gone. Thank you Otis, for keeping the name and the brand alive and well in 2021, through this and other outets. Continued good health and happiness to you my brother.

Not overpowering but a main guiding tone that matched well with Otis; Eddie; David and Melvin. We're all fortunate that providence brought such a great recipe of talent together that we call The Temptations. Blessings & Courage Otis

Lately, I've been consumed with everything "Temptations-related" and just recently purchased your [revised] book on audio. The tune I'm most interested in knowing about is "Since I Lost My Baby" with it's orchestration, layered vocals and instrumentation. I'm hoping to find the info in your book. Love Paul the Temptations was my favorite group. Eddie high falsetto n Melvin low Bass. Paul's soulful baritone. And Paul was the best dancer. I was a little boy in the 60's.. watching the Temps on TV
I love the way The Temptations dressed back in the 60s. Tall, sleek and handsome. Thanks to The Ed Sullivan Show RUclips in HD. I can watch them in HD, so vibrant and lively. It feels like I'm in the 60s, time travelled.
I really really love the song that Paul Williams song call longly. With the late Eddie Kendrick's, David Ruffin, Otis Williams, and the late Melvin Franklin. That was🤪

Thank you Mr. Williams . Whenever your not busy can we get a part 2 about paul an what YOU feel may have led to his exodus/leaving the tempts, those remaining years he spent off the road?. Just a big fan who is also fascinated by these true life experiences/stories
I wish we could get more videos and stories like this from the legends who are still here like you
Love Paul the Temptations was my favorite group. Eddie high falsetto n Melvin low Bass. Paul's soulful baritone. And Paul was the best dancer. I was a little boy in the 60's.. watching the Temps on TV
Happy Heavenly birthday
Love the Temps and glad we still have Otis. Audio is bad, though.
Even if Paul Williams is dead he’s still gonna be a temptation❤❤❤❤
I love the way The Temptations dressed back in the 60s.
Tall, sleek and handsome.
Thanks to The Ed Sullivan Show RUclips in HD.
I can watch them in HD, so vibrant and lively.
It feels like I'm in the 60s, time travelled.
in a mellow mood!❤ album awesome!
People imitate all the temptation leads except Paul nobody can even try to sound like him.
You are The King
Paul is 14 minutes away from me I will be paying my respects 100%, Detroit misses you Otis we also miss your brothers!
Who was taller Paul or Melvin
@@kamscott4201 I think Otis?? I could be wrong tho
@@SJDunham no im saying out of Melvin or Paul. Who was taller? I say Paul by inches. Because at times Paul looks tall as otis
@@kamscott4201 my bad I misread that I agree with your answer tho!!
@@SJDunham all good 💯
I really really love the song that Paul Williams song call longly. With the late Eddie Kendrick's, David Ruffin, Otis Williams, and the late Melvin Franklin. That was🤪
I loved the temptations it’s just so sad that their life was cut short because of drugs or Health problems may they Rest In Peace they were great singers❤🙏🏻💐
🎉ottis what a legend you are soul to soul allways makes me cry and higter and hightre keep going all the best love vivien and thank you for the music
That was so beautiful of Otis to end it saying to Paul, "I'll see ya in heaven", bcuz I'm sure he KNOWS he has more time behind him than he has b4 him & although I'm sure every1 of us have atleast a little bit of fear & trepidation about leaving this existence, bcuz in 👇🏾this lifetime, there hasn't been any1 to come back & confirm for us that there indeed IS sumthn on the other side, that the lights don't just go out & it's all over, but if I can leave a glimmer of hope for everyone who reads this, it's sumthn I learned in my honors physics class & that's "ENERGY IS NEITHER CREATED, NOR DESTROYED, IT ONLY CHANGES FORM"...See, we are made up of earthly physical material, flesh & blood on the outside, our Earthly Avatar of sorts, but our Avatars are ACTIVATED w/CONSCIOUS, LIVING, SUPERNATURAL
ENERGY, SO I.M.O., OTIS IS RIGHT, HE'LL SEE THE LATE GREAT PAUL WILLIAMS & ALL HIS TRANSITIONED TEMPTATION BROTHERS AGAIN.
Otis sure did keep his promise to Melvin "Blue's" mother Mama Rose. He looked after him right up until the day he died
Best Motown group ever!!
happy birthday 🎂 🥳 Paul 💓 💗 💛 💖
Wow as I’m listening to you one of my clients listening to “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” that’s crazy 😱
Best group of all time
