  • Its been a year since I last uploaded a beginners guide video about buying a Continental Rod, a lot has happened in the year.
    This is a review of some of the amazing beach casting Continental Rods that have appeared in the UK market in 2021.
    Tronix Pro Guerilla range, Yuki Saiko range , Penn Tidal and Mag 4 are just some of those new rods. All are affordable
    There are plenty of others, if in doubt visit your local tackle shop and ask them what is out there, but before you do watch this video, so at least you have some idea of some of the selection available.
    This is a selection of the Rods available in my local tackle shop, the Anglers Den , in Pevensey.
    Thank you to Glyn Morgan for sharing the knowledge.
    Im not in the market for a new rod, but I am really looking forward to trying the new Penn mag 4 rod, and who knows ???

    It looks like you are fortunate enough to have at least two great tackle shops in the Eastbourne area! Very informative, i am in the market for a conti rod.

      Yes both great shops The Den has a great selection and Tony always has deals and often has pre used rods at great prices.

    Good video , amazing how things have moved on with rod technology
    Changed over to continental rods last year , pair of vercelli enigma classicas used for fatties and smaller species .
    Have a pair of penn prevails for rays , hounds and winter use as they have a bit more power in the mid section .

    Awesome video CJ as always. Thank you👍🙂. Glyn always on point very knowlegeable and informative, the sort of information you need to know before you decide to get a new rod. Yuki & Penn rods are a thing of beauty. Does Glyn still do Casting lessons?🤔 I've always wanted a lesson from him to improve my casting.🙂👍🎣

    I have that penn rod, surf and rock the last one you were looking at (Black) I use it with an akios F15 nitro cracking rod.
    It easily sends a 6oz or 7oz lead into the horizon.
    I use it here in South Wales fishing in the Bristol channel and it has no issues dealing with smooth hounds and rays and had a few bass this summer down west wales with it

      @@martinbeynon5897 use mine in the Bristol Channel paired with an akios F15 Nitro.
      Its a really great rod, you can easily blast a lead into the horizon.
      My poor zziplex doesn't get a look in.
      For those who want a rod that can match the heavier priced rods then this is definitely one of them.

    Great video and very informative. Like the look of the Penn Tidal xr. Out of the blue and red version's, what would be the best for ray fishing over clean ground using 6oz and bait?

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ
      @SEAFISHINGwithCJ  2 года назад +3

      Hmmm they both look pretty good for that, I havent fished with them and would like have a go casting them before i made my final decision , but gut feeling id go for the red. Also the 2 piece Yuki Saiko felt really good. I will try and do a casting video with Glyn . i do like a powerful rod with a sensitive tip.

    Hi CJ , well I'm new to your channel but I am enjoying watching your videos. Full of good advice and tips, I am going to sub to your channel. Being that your doing vids on fishing tackle obviously your conscious of prices too. I have been just looking at Daiwa coarse reels and I found 1 at 1,245 pounds ( WTF ) i COULD BUY A CAR AT THAT PRICE . Wouldn't it be nice if some companies had a brain like the Chinese , where they'll sell 1 billion of something they make so everyone can afford it rather than make 1000 and sell it so only the rich can afford it . CJ I don't know if you've realise but the 2 video's I watched were great but the sound on your mic is really bad . I watch the video on the telly and it was bad but then I watch on PC and still the volume was bad but only on your mic . Fishing is definately not cheap these days and it's getting dearer all the time . I am looking towards the Chinese market and I will be testing new reels .

    What's your thoughts of the akios fury fx420 please

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ
      @SEAFISHINGwithCJ  2 года назад

      To be truthful, iv only tried tha akios fx 450 pro, with the stiffer tip. Which we used in the akios r10 black edition video. And i was really impressed with the rod, very light but with plenty of back bone. Try asking Jason, "the Eastbourne fisherman". I think he has used them.

    Is carbon or graphite better for a 15’ surf rod?

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ
      @SEAFISHINGwithCJ  2 года назад +1

      Yes, composite rods, carbon with a glass tip is probably the best of both

    Chris, you have to address the volume issues with all your videos. I know you are capable, evident by the loud and annoying music you use to propagate the dead space. Perhaps you could increase the volume approaching the red level on the audio of yourself and your guests, and eliminate the loud music. I point this out because your viewers are watching your videos for the content and video information pertaining to the various topics you cover. Thank you.

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ
      @SEAFISHINGwithCJ  2 года назад

      Im afraid , audio is far harder to get right than video. Im just an amateur vlogger on my own, a professional crew has a sound team , who are setting the levels continuously throughout a shoot. Im sorry if you find my music annoying. I have to admit on.my last 2 videos the batteries on my mics ran out, so i had to improvise, otherwise i would have had nothing to put out. Trust me i work very hard to produce good content, but we are all just amateurs. And we all have bad days. .

    • @billybastar4022
      @billybastar4022 2 года назад

      @@SEAFISHINGwithCJ the content is great, and yes I do video production as a pro, but a lot of audio corrections can be accomplished in post production. Most video editing suites have audio adjustment tools, and they do a fairly good job. Believe me I know how hard it is to produce a video. I love music, however if a viewer has raised the volume to full to hear the important dialogue, and forget to lower the volume, as the music plays, it is shocking. What editing software are you using to compose the videos? I can certainly help you with any questions you may have to achieve proper levels. First pro tip, always edit while using headphones. Any audio level issues will be immediately revealed.

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ

      @@billybastar4022 i always use headphones , and actually find it harder to get the levels with headphones. I use fillmora which has audio level adjustment, i have struggled with audio, but i thought it was getting better, which video are we talking about.? Because there were some videos where it was particularly poor, i use wireless mics and i learned better positioning of them . I appreciate any tips.

      @@SEAFISHINGwithCJ I’ve watched some of your more recent videos, and it has improved. The videos that pose all of us, videographers and producers, issue are the outdoor videos. The lav mic has been a huge improvement, not sure if you have a directional mic on the camera, if not a relatively inexpensive Rode mic with a dead kitty will help with wind and surf noise. Just trying to help you expand your viewers and keep you producing great videos.
