- Happy (almost) Halloween! Here's another one I've wanted to do for a while- Frankenstein but Victor tries to take responsibility for his mistakes after freaking out over seeing his very tall very green son for the first time. He looks for him after he runs away so they can reconcile, and eventually escape together to the mountains (with Clerval and Elizabeth in tow) so they can all live in peace together.
I notice I make a lotta "ok well what if this sad story that originally had no happily ever afters for its characters.....HAD a happy ending??" type animatics, and that kind of defeats the purpose of the original stories' messages sometimes (f.e, Frankenstein's lesson was "You should take responsibility for the life you create, there are major consequences if you don't and Victor is an example of why") buuuuuut I also really love the sort of subgenre thats cropped up in recent years where people take classic horror literature and keep ita lil spooky, but make the characters have functional, thriving relationships?? Though I mean, I definitely don't think a cry and a hug is gonna fix all the trauma and attempted murder in this AU but the reconciliation is meant to be the beginning of both the Creature's and Victor's redemptions, an acknowledgement that they're BOTH "monsters" while also not immediately forgiving each other but willing to better their relationship as son and father. I apologize if it didn't come off that way- tbh something more realistic (like the Creature getting angry at Victor for going in for a hug after initially rejecting him) wouldn't have fit the duration of the video, so I went with the quicker, more overtly sappy route instead lmao X'D still overall happy with how the video turned out

This is exactly why I go out of my way to avoid calling Frankenstein's creation a monster. Despite his alarming strength, appearance and intellect, he is still very much human or at the very least a person
I always call him Adam. Since in the book he says “I ought to be thy Adam” to Frankenstein and giving him a real name feels more right than calling him a monster or “the creature”

I love this so much! Creature is such a sweet boy and I love him and I'm so glad someone hugged him. That child needs a hug and a blanket!
All the misery from the novel could have been avoided if Victor had just decided to be a good father.

I'm awed by the storyboarding and attention to detail in this animatic. And any work of fiction is open to the multiverse where the MC *actually* learn from their mistakes & seek the help they need.

This is the greatest animatic ever!! 💙💙 I just finished reading frankenstein and I love being able to recognize all the scenes!! Also everything being written in French is such a cool accurate detail! And Victor and Clerval getting engaged at the end is so cute 🥺💙💙 but also when he hugs his monster it’s the sweetest thing in the world ahhh !!! Imma be watching this video on loop forever I just know it.

I always thought Elizabeth was blonde?
In the original 1818 version of the novel, Elizabeth had dark hair and dark eyes. In the 1831 revised version (the more popular version of the story) she was blond with blue eyes. I chose her original traits because I personally think she looks cuter this way lol!
@@tart-miano I honestly thought she was blond in both versions until now. Now it makes sense to see her with dark hair and honestly it does look cute.

Ok, SO- I remember that during the process of making the animatic, I spent of couple of days doing my research on how to translate a select few paragraphs I'd written into French. Because I am. not that good at French. But I'm pretty sure I still fcked MANY things up, french speakers feel free to throw tomatoes at me bc its pretty terrible- i'm such a big dumbdumb, idk WHY i didn't just settle for making all the text in this video in english?? ig i was REALLY confident in my abilities and thought i could make it more realistic and *so cool* by adding in french (since this was the characters' native language in the original novel) but. i'm not as smart and resourceful as i thought i was, hhhhhhhhh i hate this so much now

It's short, almost curt as this version of Victor thinks little of his father after he pressured him to marry Elizabeth, something Victor had no interest in doing) "I'm sorry, I can't explain why but I have to go. I don't think we'll ever see each other again, but know that I'm happy with this new life I've found."

That's Elizabeth and Clerval. When Victor and the creature ran away to the mountains to live in peace away from people trying to attack them, they brought Elizabeth and Clerval with them so they wouldn't have to live apart (also in this au Victor isn't in love with Elizabeth but loves her like a sister, and actually romantically loves Clerval which is why he's showing off his engagement ring at the end)
