All true and facts there sir!! The humic.max is a game changer....best decision by far for me on my celebration bermuda....thanks Ron for all you do!! #bermudabeast
Glad it was useful family barton. It's tips I've spoken about before, but decide to give it a fresh presentation to see if it'll come across better. I appreciate you watching sir.
I figure that a lot of people are going to be working in the lawn this weekend, so why not share some tips to get the summer prep started right eh? Thanks for watching Wize Guy. Much appreciated.
Thanks Ron! Good advice! I have taken your advice from Friday and mowed each of the last 3 days. I think it got a little out of control last week with the rain, so I do have some scalping. But, I am noticing better vertical growth. I may have to put down PGR this weekend so my Wife isn’t jealous of my time in the yard.. lol!
Great job Alan. As a general rule, the more frequently you mow your lawn the better it will look. PGR is definitely a game changer when it comes to slowing down vertical growth. I would incorporate it into your program if at all possible. I've got a video here talking about it and showing how little of it is needed to produce a good result. ruclips.net/video/-DtiIYS4mv4/видео.html Appreciate you watching.
Awesome Video Ron. Got a question for you. I got my soil test back and i am low on N at a 4.64 ppm. The optional range for N is 7ppm to 18ppm. By chance do you know how many LBs of N do i need to be at that range? Also my PH was low and i just applied 2400lbs of like in a 32k sq ft lawn. The lime was calcium carbonate. Thanks in advance.
Great tips Ron! Spoon feeding is something I think I should try for my cool season lawn. Since it gets stressed in the dead of the summer I feel that spooning in .1 or .2 lbs/N every few weeks would be better. Or something like the Yard Mastery stress blend. Haven't decided what I'll try but I will do something
Nice! Simple, clear explanation. Looks like you have a huge yard, about how many square feet is that and how long does it take you to reel mow all of that??
Hi RussC. It takes about an hour to mow. I have about 12,000 square feet. It's pretty open so I burn through it pretty quickly. Thanks for watching sir.
This is great, have you overseed ryegrass with bermuda seed? I just seeded my yard with rye a month ago and it looks amazing, would like to keep it that way year round can't wait for spring.😄
Hi Tomax. I apply them both on the same day and wait until the following day to water the granular in. I go into more detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/Ht3NuqMo9bc/видео.html
Ron: I live in deep Southern Illinois, close to KY. I have a pretty good lawn but have some areas of crab. I did a light pre-emergent the last couple of years and it helps but I just saw some young crab plants in my weak areas. What can I do at this point? I hate mowing crab in late summer! Thanks.
Hi dw davis. As long as you don't have Centipede or St. Augustine (kind of unlikely in southern IL), you can use Quinclorac. Be sure to read the label so that you apply it correctly. Can get it here: ron-henry.com/quincloracdf You definitely want to knock out the crabgrass before they get too big. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Hey Ron.I was told that the dark green grass growing in my zoysia is tall fescue. It’s growing in about 15 different spots where I killed some weeds earlier this spring. It’s darker than the zoysia and the blades are thicker.Ho do I get rid of it?
Ron, I am use to Tall type fescue, but I sold my home and I am having one built in NC. The subdivision install sod in the front, sides, and Bermuda seed in the back. I sold my zero turn mower and I am on the look out for a Toro Greensmaster 1000 or 1600. What guidance would you give for a beginner on new Bermuda once I move in around August or September 2021?
Hi Ronald. Best advice I can give is test your soil once you move in so that you're applying a fertilizer that matches what's going on with it. After that, it's mow, mow and mow some more. I've gotten great results out of the fertilizer package I've been using so I'd consider it as well. I'd also say that once you find a package that works, stick with it. I've had the opportunity to try a lot of different fertilizers but once I moved away from Milo I've stuck with Lebanon Turf products because the quality is always top notch and I like the results I get. Thanks for watching the content. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Hi Ron can I put iron sulphate down with the liquid fertiliser to help resist disease and green up the grass sword or is it too early ? I have rye grass in the Uk Cheers love your content . Regards Glenn
That combination should be fine Frankie. I would mix a small amount of both in a jar first to ensure there’s no abnormal reactions that would cause issues when spraying the lawn. Thanks for watching sir. Appreciate the support.
Do you still use any Milorganite I still use it between Big Boy granular apps once or twice a summer... I remember when you had a garage full of Milorganite... Seems a lot of the large RUclips channels have moved away from Milorganite.. pushing their products instead but Milorganite definitely still has its place and still works just as well as it used to imo
Hi Jack Man 13. No I don't. I have a few bags that have been in the garage since last year. It's actually more expensive to apply to my lawn than Humic Max while not being as good. Around here it's $17 per bag. You can't even get it at Home Depot anymore. It's always sold out.
@@RonHenry man that's wild...everyone used to be crazy about milo How is it more expensive... do you mean in terms of nitrogen amount per dollar... I don't use mine for the nitrogen.. just an in-between app once or twice a year I'll skip a spoon-feeding app for a Milorganite app It's 13-14$ at my nursery here😀 No doubt its fertilizers like the 16-0-8 in this video are great primary granulars and do the heavy lifting...
Hey T Johnson. Bionite is processed biosolids (human excrement). Biochar plant-based charcoal that's charged to improve it's ability to balance pH and improve nutrient availability. Very different products. Pretty much the only thing they have in common is "bio" in their name and that they both benefit grass.
Hi concerned patient. You'll want to apply 4 - 6 ounces per 1000 square feet so for your lawn 16 - 24 ounces. I would apply 1 gallon of water per 1000 square feet. Thats's what I do with my backpack sprayer. You'll likely have to dilute it a bit more than I do with a hose end sprayer.
Love your channel and great work. But to get these lawns let's be real you are spending 10k to reach this. Unless you have 5 to 6inches of perfect soil to start you have to spend alot to get this. I did an experiment with grass seed in a container like yours with mix of compost and sand and it is growing an inch every 2 days. Perfect all because of the soil.
Heya Bamaz#1. It's not the grass seed that makes the lawn look great as much as being top dressed, proper mowing and a good fertilization program. My lawn definitely wasn't built overnight. What you're seeing is the result of 6 years of work. If you look at the playlist at the end of the video showing Alex's lawn, that was literally done in just over 3 months. So a complete transformation is possible over a summer. Thanks for watching.
@@RonHenry Glad you reminded me of this. Just bought a new construction home and they laid the worst rolled sod over literally rocks gravel and clay. Coming out of dormancy maybe 50% of bermuda lived and all spring I have been pushing it with your help. Lots of humichar and air8 rgs. Its finally coming in. But I did do what you did and overseed with Arden 15 to help fill bare spots and I don't think any took. But my test containers are out of this world!. It's gonna take seasons for my roots to get deep in my soil. Wish I could just bring in a dump truck and lay down some real soil. Thanks for the reply!!!
It's certainly more work but produces an amazing result. My lawn wouldn't be where it is without liquid products. They're great for maintaining consistent color and growth.

Spoon feeding is definitely the way to go. The lawn is looking fantastic Ron. 👍🏻
Thanks Pacific Northwest. It’s definitely more work but the results are totally worth it. Appreciate you watching.
