I have this engine and i love it, but now i have iddle problems, it drop down allmost to shut down engine, and then go high up and drops to normal again and this mostly happends when i stress the steering wheal right or left to the end. I have check all vacuum solenids and they are good. When motor is cold or stays over the night i cant start it at first start only like 3 or 4th, it has same signs like the fuel preasure or something like that have problem and dont hold it over longer period of staying. So i will ask you, have u had this problem ever and is it can be vacuum leak somewhere or fuel preasure that operates by the vacuum? Tnx a lot. ❤️♥️
I have the same engine, 1.8T.... I have a crank but no start issue...after assesment have seen I have spark and fuel pressure to common rail, but will not spray fuel.... I even changed the computer box incase this was the issue and it's exactly the same
When working the fuel system, VW techs and even the Bentley manual suggest removing the fuel pump fuse (panel to the left beside dashboard). Then crank the engine and release pressure. Some DIYers even disconnect the negative terminal, but in some cars that asks for an adaptation after the job is done. Remember you'll be spilling gasoline doing this. Engine should be cold. Caution can prevent having a really bad day.

It seems that you forgot to reconnect the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator!
Do you need to pull a fuse or a relay to relieve the pressure in the line ?
no
