I've been using Studio off and on for years (and Poser, since first release, off and on before that) and in general, I can comfortably say I don't need a tutorial on how to do a basic render... But when SickleYield says "I'm going to show you how to do something in Studio." I sit the hell down and shut up and listen. And I'm always glad I did, and I always learn things. Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise. :)
Wow so great tutorial! So far I've just done rendering for fun but now I want learn more and improve. I will check this canvas system right away. Thanks for the awesome tips.
Very nice Sickleyield, as usual. I learned a nice lot, so ty muchly. Nice to see you do some things I do, but never really thought about 'em. I am a ghost lite user with occasionally dropping in a spot for tight beam low light on shadowed areas. I also always drop a spotlight in the scene so I can see since I use Ghosts all the time, so I can actually see. I think my main objective is always to use as few lights as possible... its almost a game I play with myself and Daz. And then I agonize over the little things... sometimes for hours.. wheee! But, i like the reeezultz. And ty very very much SY.
Yah, I saw that. I've been playing with different "components" so to speak, for both mesh lights and blocking screens for light fx... its fun. I want to try a true "mesh" of thin 'stuff' like a large screen and make that a light with low Lume and see what it does. Kind of like a ring light but not for same use. I mainly use one high ghost pointed down on one side and one floor level from other and play with the temps and lumes on each to find which makes the best shadows to be used for the rim. Then a couple spots with the spread angle down to like 2 with low lumes and then play with the temps to blend it or make it pop whatever I'm lighting. then I make coffee, dance on razor blades and troll people who aren't nice.
@SPX6553 I've tried using distant lights a few times and so far that flood effect hasn't done anything for me. But, its part of the tool kit so you never know

Wow, that's really nice of you. :) Thanks!
Queen of DAZ learning, hopefully this will be a great year for you and stay safe. Thanks for the lesson.
I really want to thank you for this tutorial. I really appreciate the balance between "how to do things" and "why" 👍
Awesome tutorial, thank you! Coming back to 3d after many moons is a bit of a shock! Your vids have helped so much!

Nothing wrong with Ghost Lights! They're just mesh lights that are invisible, and I used mesh lights in the first half of this tutorial, too.
