Hey Jeff! Just some terms/info that we use not nit picking just giving some info: The "Tri-axel" is commonly, at least on the west coast is just called a drop axle or a drop. The part that goes from the 5th wheel to the trailer is called the jeep. The very back of the trailer is called a booster rather than a dolly. A dolly is a removable 5th wheel set up that connects two smaller trailers together, like if you were pulling doubles or triples. all of the extra axles and length help span the weight over a greater distance. EDIT: Source I drive dump truck, Side dump Occasionally lowboy.
Drop, tag or lift axle. We hear it any way here in MT. I only have my class b so haven’t driven anything heavy, but used to drive a tandem axle tank wagon (bulk fuel delivery truck) with a tag axle. Now I drive a desk and tell the guys driving those trucks where to go!
Boy, does this bring back some memories! I was a heavy hauler for 20 years, and loved it. Even with the same load the next day would bring new challenges. Most eastern states wouldn't let you travel on interstate highways. I noticed you don't have a pole car behind the police escort on some of those high loads. That would be scary. My vehicle was a KW 900 with a 21 speed tranny and a Cat engine. I believe at the time it was a 425 horsepower engine. I could also adjust the pressure on the lift axle, even while I was moving. .
About the bridge transport, I was coming home from a hockey game Friday night and some trucks pulling bridge parts had police escorts. Annoying but also cool to see.

I'm loving the special transport jobs. I ended up doing the same route you did in the last video. The escort vehicle did indeed stop like in your video. I remembered what you said in this one, and when I checked the outside view, there was a car and truck in front of the rear escort vehicle. Once they went by, the lead escort vehicle changed lanes and continued on. It seems to be working as intended. I did get stuck in traffic at the light in Sierra Vista. One car refused to move through the light, so I had to save and reload. It wasn't going to move otherwise. Hope they can get that cleared up.
hey jeff you don't need to stop to lift axel down the proper name is called a tag axel so you can drive and just set it down same with picking it up just thought you would likw to know and congrats buddy
Raise your third axle making turns then put it back on the ground, this can be done while rolling also. If you’re not loaded no need to put it on the ground.
Great vid Jeff and there's going to be another trucking game called Truck Driver and it's coming out sometime next year and it's going to be on PC, XBOX ONE and PS4 and it's the same developers that made Pure Farming can't wait until Truck Driver comes out
I’m yet to purchase any dlc for ATS but they look great! Did you notice any performance difference once you installed them? My gpu is pretty maxed running stock ATS on high settings
I run am old AMD quad core with a clapped out GTX 760 and I average 40-50 FPS on high. Mind you, thats with all the DLC's minus the paint jobs and with probably 20 mods.
My stepdad owns and operates his own pilot trucking company and he rarely if ever has police running with his drivers. And alot of his runs are with Sin-crude. and my dad is a trucker and its just not common.
you can also stay well in the lane, without crossing the solid white, if you notice the traffic coming to pass actually moves well to the left to pass you in a wide load like this. Myself, I don't know if it's a bug or not, but any of the special transports I've done haven't gotten escorts. but I suppose I haven't taken the bigger ones yet. I just for the life of me cant back these up to park correctly. since you cant steer that rear dolly independently.
Yeah its durastress out of lake county. They run all of there stuff at night with like 20 fhp escorts. Its really cool to watch. They have the lock down on florida when it comes to pre cast bridge beams.
I am just getting into oversize load pilot and technically with that size of a load would have to have a high pole escort. Meaning the front car would have to have a pole attached to the front set no less than 6 inches higher than the load to make sure that no overhead obstacles would cause damage to the load and vise-versa. Just found your videos and hope to be getting the game soon!
It'd be interesting to see SCS or a mod offer a rocket's first-stage as a cargo option, unless they already do (I don't own/play the game, I just love watching these ATS vids).
Gidday Jeff, you got an easy drop off today. The two I did last night were absolute shockers, both requiring multiple repositions to get it in the slot.
Is there a special program you have to add on to the American Truck Simulator to get the escort from the Police ? I have the Special Transport and Heavy Load on it all ready ?
The body of the Nissan 350z also has an aluminium/aluminum body and it still got painted. Also, the pilot car adapts its speed to yours, so you can go up to 40mph if you wanted to. The pilot car will never go above 40mph though so you can't go any faster than that.
I live in Orlando, well Apopka actualy and ive seen those bridge transports on several ocasions. Pretty cool to see. At fist I thought they were transporting nuclear missles lol awesome video btw this game is addictive
I did one of these deliveries in ETS2, there was a 3 car crash on my side of the road and the Escort cars came to a halt behind the crash, and i sat there for 40 minutes and nothing happened, I didn't know what to do, so i tried to go around the accident and Pilot car which i did easily , and it just kept telling me to wait for pilot cars. weird situation, i was never going to complete that delivery with that scenario, eventually it failed the delivery because i tried to complete delivery without pilot cars. What is one meant to do in this situation?
Sounds like a bug to me. I've had the AI just sit at wrecks/ construction sites a few times. There are a few mods that improve the AI, but besides that, there's not much you can do.
Typely over size load take place at night because there isnt alot of people on the roads and they can get people to raise power wires and everything else without dangering peoples lifes. And it depends on the load also because it might be oversize but doesnt need a ton of attention.
Looks like a fantastic game but I can see why you need to talk about random conversation's.. or it would just be boring for the viewers. But love the vids dude wish it would come to console... the engine brake is so sexy lol
As long as he doesn't exceed 40mph. That's the max. speed you can go without ramming into the back of the police car. Unless you're in a town where the speed limit is lower, like 35mph or 25mph. But the actual speed limit is always shown on the GPS screen.
I did a special transport out of Phoenix and the game basically made me do an immediate U turn to get out of the company and on to the road and they put a cop car right in the way. It was literally impossible to get out without hitting it despite restarting a few times. lol the spawn points of some of these missions are ridiculous.
Some third axles as you call it or the "pusher axle" turn so you don't have to lift them up. When you buy a tractor a self steering pusher axle is an expensive option but is good for heavy haul. //// On some roads when I hug the right side I get a few % trailer damage due to the mile markers or whatever they are sticking up. I also notice Oregon has spots where the truck stops for a while like it's loading or something, but must be a glitch in the program because it does not happen in other states. I'd love to try out some mod's but I don't know how to up grade them when SCS up grades their end. Right now I've been happy driving a 389 Peterbilt with the 18 speed non retarder. If you are tight on money I found owning your own trailers is only fair and you can also not get the Oregon stripe kit either. When you own your own trailer such as a refer than your variety is not as much. For example if you use SCS's trailers, then you can go to different clients, where one may be a store, the next one a quarry, I found using SCS's trailers more fun. Of course if money is not much of an object then owning everything is good. I have all the states and the first heavy haul package to come out was like 3 bucks. I'm contemplating on buying these really big trailers with really big loads they are coming out with like you saw here tonight. Thumbs up on the narration, nice driving, good video.
When SCS updates their game, the mod authors will update their mods at some point to work with the game, assuming something in the update messed with their mods causing them not to work properly. But once you install it and they update the mod, it will install itself automatically. Steam workshop for the beginners and internet download for a slightly more advanced experience installing them, though not to bad.

@@SteelyPaw it might take them awhile to update though, if it's a popular one it tends to be within the week of the SCS patch being released, others can be a few weeks to months or never if the mod creator ends up not caring enough. Steams Workshop has a release notes section on each mods page and than will say when it was last updated. Also, if you want to change the look of the game, installing something as simple as Reshade can enhance the single player experience. Idk how well it works with multiplayer because I know some developers will ban for using something simple, but if you know how to remove the files and stuff it can be a quick process. Once again, if you wanted to. Reshade is not a requirement or anything. Good luck with the mods.

Perhaps someone has made a video on exporting mods into ATS. I tried to get a nice cab over International into my game, I could see it my inventory but that was as far as it went. I hunted in all my garages and still could not find it, however the game did know it was there because at the bottom of the sigh on screen was a warning in white letters saying the game knew it had a foreign truck and may not up grade correctly. Looks like as a New bee to Mods I'm going to have to figure all this out..... Again, i really appreciate you taking the time to share what you learned over time with me......
ive got BFV it gets messy, shot a guy wearing the flame thrower, set the tanks on fire. that guy became charcoal. got his neighbor in the head he became really dead really quick. tbh not the biggest fan of it, some weirdness in that setup. but fwiw still fun. even tho im not 100 percent liking it.
That Peterbilt you drive is a Rusty Nail's truck from Joyride 3. Also the CB radio in your rig remindes me of the cherokee nightrider radio used in first movie in the student's car. You know what i mean if you watched the movie.

I think this one Peterbilt that was used in the video was from 70's as it was in the movie. In the movie it was a 1974 Peterbilt 359 EXHD. It has sam lights as that truck in the video.

jeff the max oversize/ over weight permitted is 55 mph. it aslo depends on the state.
