Man I love the sound of this motorcyle especially at low mid range rev, Im thinking of it as my 1st bike. Did U learned how to ride on this bike or something different ? I will be getting my license in may, exam is on yamaha mt 07 which is like 180kg only. So Im kinda woried about 220kg beast which has 100km and no abs. So only calm can save U. Have a nice day and record more 😄
Hey 😁 Happy to welcome a to-be rider ;-) I learned first on an XT600, but real street riding (curves, braking, ..) I started to learn on the VFR. I dont really think it is a great first bike though. Brakes are 90-s japanese bike standard, not great but usable. Not one finger brakes though 😅 Yes you have to learn how much you can use them but Im fine without abs. My problem is weight, and speed. You will definitely drop it while pushing around, it is low and heavy, and long. I even struggled with that after 4 years riding the XT on road and dirt, I even dropped it once in the garage. Fairings are rare and expensive for it. Its long af, beginners struggle with tight turns anyway but this bike is difficult on that. Also, speed. Its old but stable like a rock with soft suspension, and you dont really feel the speed. You can easily get in a corner hot, and then get in trouble with the weight. It may be “just” 98hp (or whatever is left of it) but it gets up to 200 in no time. All in all, yes you can buy as first bike, but I would say something like the 07 for the first 1-2 years is better. A parallel twin is boring compared to a V4 but with a decent exhaust it sounds great. Whatever you end up buying, stay safe on it 😉 and learn where to look in corners before anything else.
Beautiful scenery and very nice sound! Quick question though : I cannot hear that infamous VFR cam whine from your engine. Is it something you did to it or is it just from the sound edit maybe?
Thanks 😁 I usually put the recorder into my backpack, so it is more or less above the rear cylinder head and some cam whine is audible. This time it was put into passengers backpack, so it was way further back. Thats why this video misses the cam sound.
@@Stahlkatze thanks man, for answering. I think this is the only one thing that keeps me from putting this model on the short list. I cannot really find a way to like this sound, that whine.
I think you could try it. The bike is great (bit heavy) and totally holds its price anyway. I felt that way too, but I found myself liking it quickly. Its not that loud and it adds some special taste to a nice exhaust (I think). Like a turbine whining in the background 😅
incredible view
Very nice places, enjoy the VFR, there are few motorcycles like it. Greetings from Argentina.
Wow, what a beautiful day for a ride, scenery is breathtaking, the old VFR sounds good!
