Hey! Since you made the witch a bird that would make Gruntilda's rivalry with Kazooie make that much more sense! Maybe they're closely related species that split and have now been brought back together through either natural or unnatural means or they are convergent evolutions that are now participating in interspecies competition!
Maybe Gruntilda could be a particularly disagreeable member of the species (you know how locals sometimes name wild animals because they are always causing trouble? like that) And the Kazooie bird is a closely related species to the witch birds! The leg and neck lenght certainly support it!

I got a spooky idea. Do a take on the Gashadokuro, or rattling skeleton, one of the only good scariest Yokai in Japanese myths. I suggest that you can make it a huge relative of the skeleton wasp, and the sounds "Gachi" as a sound which can uses its chattering mandibles to lure its prey.
Man, these things are pretty interesting, though i was kinda assuming that this was going to be some type of mole rather than another primate since I know you kind of have an aversion to making humanoid creatures obviously primate-based, though i am happy you found a clade to experiment with! Happy spooky month!
I usually reserve primates for when I feel its an interesting idea to draw / speculate on, and the cursedness it would bring to this one helped convince me!
I appreciate this video. I remember when I was a wee lad I first heard of The Rake from Mathew Santoro. Ooh that picture and story scared me to death and I couldn’t sleep for a week. I eventually forgot about the rake all together. Fast forward to when I’m halfway through high school and I’m suddenly reminded of the rake’s existence through Monsters and Mysteries in America (a TV show). And I was angry. I was angry that people were not only listening to that woman and the “many others” who have had “encounters” with the rake. Obviously no, it’s a creepypasta. That woman didn’t see the rake, she was obviously under the influence of substances and saw a creepy shadow! And people believe her! Not only that, but people also believe the people lying on the internet for attention. Like it is so STUPID that people actually think that a CREEPYPASTA made up on the INTERNET has suddenly come into the real world as a flesh and blood creature. Because if that’s the case. Oh you better watch out, Sonic.exe is out there and he’s trying to steal your catalytic converter and force feed cottage cheese to your dog. Because of that I’ve actually gone from fearing the rake to actually hating it because of its reputation. But this, this I like. This is a Rake pallet cleanser and a breath of fresh air.
Cool, heres an interesting idea, how about you make a video of what the new Creaking mob from Minecraft would look like as a scientificly plasuable creature? Mabye it would be a kinda like a giant stick bug or something. I feel it could work for Halloween.
A very fascinating creature! Wonder if they and sasquatches are closely related. Cryptoteras, from what I could decipher means "hidden ripper", couldn't find what macronus means, but I'm guessing it means something along the lines of "big" given the macro part.
It is certainly muscular, and probably since it's used to enclosed spaces, human buildings might seem like nice homes for it on the surface (particularly with climate control systems). Combine that with their ambush predator lifestyle, a few of them inhabiting a structure will be very hard to remove... I think that makes them scarier than the woodland beast version of them.
Also, with the Wolfman and how you were kind of hinting at its possible relation with a possible future spec-evo take on Goofy (or not and it was just a joke I couldn't really tell!) Perhaps you can use this creature as the basis for certain OTHER anthropomorphic canids in fiction! Such as say Scooby-Doo! He possesses features that are shared with your lupine creature such as facultative bipedalism and similar grasping forepaws! Perhaps he is the result of a possible attempt at domestication? (Not sure how you're going to explain his unnerving ability to "talk" or his even MORE unnerving ability to unhinge his jaw like a fucking python but I'm sure you can figure THOSE out SOMEHOW!)
maybe for a speculative evolution for the hōnengyo you can make it a relative of the Japanese giant salamander, since the Yokai is sighted in the same rivers

Amazing video and I must say the cave dwelling early primate route wall unexpected certainly was intriguing and fits. Also, if that glow you drew in the rakes eyes was meant to be a reflection from the tapetum lucidum that was a nice touch and on the note of creepy pasta creatures that are kind of nightmare to rationalize have you thought about potentially covering eyeless jack because frankly, I have absolutely no idea how you would make sense of this seemingly eyeless Blue-faced home invader with a particular taste for organ meat, specifically the kidneys, and a desire to ideally not kill his prey and that’s not even mentioning the cult associations.
That's indeed the tapetum lucidum reflection, thanks! I wanted to try it for a change! Also that sounds like a super cool idea, I'll look into it! Thanks!
