The best part of Centibeetle is how out of place he is. A prehistoric boss being an ancient artifact? Makes sense An Edo era boss being a mechanical shogun? Yeah, I can see that. The 1960's boss being a robotic soldier? Makes sense to me! A far future boss being a… centipede? Uh…
My best guess is that centibeetle would've been some type of alien? I mean space travel and possible alien encounters would be common in most far future tropes.
Small detail on second Big Boss (Machinder). His eye is focused on Bomberman. If him is on opposite side of the "table", the boss you look at the player.
I think it's meant to show that Bagular isn't messing around anymore, the theme of the final boss of your past adventure is nothing more than major boss material now.
The second big boss is BURIKIIIII DAIOOOOOOH EDIT: Ah, bosses with unpredictable, overly long invulnerability phases. So obnoxious. I remember Lech Kril from Warframe could only be hit after a certain attack, and there's also Chaugmar from Bravely Default- although if you have a DEF ignoring ability like Pressure Point, Chaugmar drops like a chump. I forget if Salve-Maker fixed damage attacks hit through his defenses too?
So this is the game in which Bagular/Bagura started to do weird things to himself. My only Bomberman game is Bomberman Hero and by that game he's uploaded his brain in a bunch of discs.
The music in the boss rush with the 4 Bomber Kings sounded like a remix of the last stage theme in Bomberman 94'. And ironically enough the last boss theme is a remix of the regular boss theme in the same game afore mentioned.
@@derthevaporeon The sounds past the bells (Explosion and female scream) is the game over music from Meteos on the planet Jeljel. The bell sounds actually came from that game as well when you win against Jeljel.
5 years... Worth the wait, honestly. Can't comment on 4's bosses much, outside of them reminding me a lot of previous games' bosses in terms of design and patterns. I always found the first game to have strange bosses, the penultimate one being the stuff of nightmares to kid me. Looking forward to see you suffer in the robot Bombermen gauntlet with 1 Firepower bombs, I can already hear the bells on that one just for the strict time limit alone, since unlike later games, the time limit for boss fights are the same as regular stages. Also I bet Git is gonna have a field day eventually covering the fifth game, especially the true final boss and his infinite machine gun bomb throwing he tends to do and the fact he basically never stops moving. I do wonder if the optional Honey and Kotetsu fight shall be covered? I remember never being able to beat them as a kid, and so I'd just reset the game if I accidentally went through the portal that lead to them.
Yes! I've been waiting for this for so long! The wait was worth it This video was posted in the right time, I'm been playing alot of super bomberman R online lately
the four kings bit is prolly a reference to japanese culture which is why so many japanese made things have four bosses n stuff the name of the reference is the four heavenly kings... king prolly means something different in japanese beacause i have seen many original material refer things to four kings... people usually change them to knights or an elite four or something similar.
@@geekdaparaiba Yes. And now that I recall, Super Bomberman 3 and 4 reuse music from the TG-16 Bomberman games. Their regular boss themes are also picked up from their unused forms from the first TG-16 Bomberman game.
Your videos on these old Bomberman games are really interesting to me because I've loved every Bomberman game I've played, but have almost no knowledge of the pre-N64-era games. This one was particularly interesting because I recognize the rival bombers. They reappear in Bomberman Generation (my 2nd favorite entry, after Bomberman 64: The Second Attack) as the Crush Bombers. I'm certain it's the same guys despite having different names (likely a translation thing) because of the similar appearances and fighting styles. I remember Assault Bomber (Bazooka Bomber) and the giant boss that came after him were my favorites because of their charmingly hilarious dialogue and fun attack patterns. I would fight them over and over again. On the other hand, I pity any poor soul who attempts a no powerup run of the game, particularly because of Eagle Bomber (Jet Bomber), who is so damn fast I'm certain his special move is unavoidable if you haven't upgraded your own speed.
Some of these bosses are reworked for the games later on in time. Bomberman Generation actually changes their names and I believe Super Bomberman 2's bosses are used in Super Bomberman R
If I remember correctly, the Bomber Kings reappeared in Bomberman Generation under a different title (The Crush Bombers) and different names. More mistranslation shenanigans or did the translation team actually get it right?
Funny you say that, because I think it's either 3 or 5 which makes the characters say "Shimata!", which IS a Japanese swear, when cornered by bombs with no way to get out, in multiplayer mode, before being blown to smithereens.
My favorite Bomberman Game of the Snes saga,Great Bomber is awesome so is Jet Bomber well....even though he's a pain in multiplayer cuz of his special move where he zooms to the other side of the battle field
36:38 That's just an arrangement of the track used for Final Area (Which isn't desert themed either) in Bomberman '94/Mega Bomberman. Pretty much single track in this game is just an arrangement of music from a previous Bomberman game's without too much thought put into context. June Chikuma does have a lot of experience with Arabic music though, which you can definitely hear in some of these tracks.
Huh. I can see a lot of comparisons between the Bomber Kings of this game and the Crush Bombers from one of my childhood favorites that probably wasn’t very good but I still loved - Bomberman Generation. Despite movement altering mechanics being the one thing I hate most, I can't help but laugh at the fact that a BOSS enemy needs to shove you away. Double the laugh for Lady Bomber doing...what she does.
You are the bomb. While there's good and bad difficulty (shown here with Centibeetle), which of the Super Bomberman games would you consider the hardest of all?
I think this one after facing Centibeetle. Thank goodness the standard firepower is 2 and not 1 like it was in the first and second games, it wouldn't have been much fun to play at all.
