I understand that it had a troubled development history. There was a lot of growing pains between the Genesis and Dreamcast eras. The fact that Sega didn't get an original and mainline Sonic game out on Saturn, really hurt it's lifespan. So a lot more effort, time and support should have been put on this game. But alas.
I genuinely don't know. I think the idea they got for it is that there is a robotic doppelganger for the other characters in the game. Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Egg Robo and so they followed the same trend for Tails. I still have no idea where the idea comes from and I'm usually very well informed!

No way this game is 43ish minutes long for everything
43 minutes is actually considered to be quite slow in getting 100%! Not much content at all.....
They couldnt add more content due to time contraints.

29:15 i tried getting the red chaos emerald and for some reason, it isn't coming out??? Why did that happen?
I think it appears behind the player sometimes.
