In this run of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic has decided that getting all the emeralds is the only way to go. And not just the Chaos Emeralds, but also the Super Emeralds. With those, Sonic can go from Super Sonic to Hyper Sonic, a super form so fast and powerful, it flashes the screen constantly. Tails can also tag along to help in this endeavor, but he's not used in this run.
ShiningProdigy9000 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/S... ), Takz15x ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/T... ), and kaan55 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/k... ) all collaborate to improve on the previous run by six minutes. A lot of this is done by using strategies and glitches that the previous run forwent to better show off the game, along with using all new strategies. We also have a regular run with Sonic ( tasvideos.org/4266M ), one with Amy ( tasvideos.org/2752M ) through a romhack, one with Knuckles ( tasvideos.org/3425M ), one with just Tails ( tasvideos.org/2468M ), a ring attack run with Knuckles ( tasvideos.org/2593M ), a 100% run with knuckles ( tasvideos.org/3521M ), a run in Competition mode ( tasvideos.org/1713M ) and a run with Sonic and Tails on NewGame+ ( tasvideos.org/2744M ).

Warning: The usage of Hyper Sonic in this run will have moments of flashing lights that are not suitable for those that are photosensitive.
There are alternate encodes that hack the camera in the game so that it stays on Sonic as much as possible.

14 years after the 100% TAS now you finally get to see an improvement 6 minutes faster than the original run.
We did it! A team effort to clobber the sh* out of this game

All these years of playing this game and I still DO NOT understand how the Special Stage glitches work.
When you complete a square of spheres, the blue spheres left, and ones you converted to red, get turned into rings. If you collect all the rings, you get a perfect bonus. Unfortunately, the "completed a square of spheres" checking code isn't that robust, and can mis-count or misrecognize.

The way the special stages are done give me an indescribable amount of anxiety.
I once had a friend that rarely - if ever - cleared the squares of spheres to turn them into rings. He would collect them as entire rows leaving them all as red spheres you could potentially run into later accidentally. Used to drive me up the wall lol.
Can anybody else agree that classic sonic games being controlled by TAS looks like sonic in the shows, movies and intros
Kinda reminds me of the something about Sonic videos from terminal montage.
Imagine if this is how Sonic would canonically go through all of the zones.

But there’s only one thing you can’t do and that’s skipping levels. All levels have to be played out in orderly fashion, like the marble garden 1 skip isn’t allowed

Why does the TAS die in hydrocity act 2 and death egg act 2?
On hydrocity it's bc the bubble would make sonic bounce instead of jump most likely
Either that or maybe the stage loads in differently on death or smth. Idk
@@oost_javelnWhen transitioning to Act 2, Act 1 is still partially loaded, which would ruin the level wrap. The death reloads the stage, meaning the wrap goes off without a hitch.
I can't say that I can't do the special stages (all 14 of them) because I did get them over three times over for sonic and tails, tails, and knuckles through the gamecube version. but it's been so long that I'm rusty. So long that I'm not sure if I can do them over again. also, fuck the carnival night zone for that stupid floating platform. finally, what I've seen I prefer the marble garden zone boss fight with tails available to sonic although sonic being alone does look easier.
I literally just made videos of myself playing in reverse in the special stages as often as possible. I decided not to upload them. I should have uploaded it. Now people will think I got the idea from this TAS dang it! At least the metadata checks out but who cares about metadata dates? All it takes is one comment on my videos to make me feel terrible lol. Maybe I should unprivate my exclusive 32X experiment instead.

the way this fella approaches special stages irks me in a way words can't describe. and why does he not collect them all? hyper Sonic is available as early as marble garden, at least it was on the ds ports, you never had to wait until mushroom hill to get it for any character
technically speaking: it's not 100% cause you didn't get all the rings in the special stages, thus unlocking all the content (and maybe debug mode).
