      That's a great topic! Tropicalismo is from the late 60s and names like Tom Zé, Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Os Mutantes are part of it. They are so important not only to the Brazilian music but Brazilian culture in general. It deserves a video exclusively for it to dive into details. But other than Jorge Ben, I recorded songs by Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso on the channel where I explain more things about them.

    I learn both the chords from this video and your other video on mas que nada. I think about the 3rd part of the song in this video you play a chord instead of the Eb9 from your other video, and you play another chord (looks like Fm9) instead of the Abmaj7 of the other video. Could you please explain how possible its sound amazing together and how we can learn how to do that ? It is looks amazing to me :O
    Thank you for your great videos !

    • @RobsongsMusic
      @RobsongsMusic  2 года назад

      That’s a really good question! :)
      In both videos, the harmonies work well in terms of functions! For example, in this video, in the third part I’m playing a “C7” before “Fm” (V - i harmonic minor). In the other video I’m playing “Eb9” instead (VII - i natural minor). Even though both of them come from different scales (harmonic/natural), both prepare “Fm” chord in terms of function.
      In this video I’m played the harmony in my way. I mixed the versions that I had heard before and created this. In the other video I’m playing the version of Sergio Mendes and The Black Eyed Peas specifically.
      Thank you for comment!

    Great lesson here, but technically, shouldn't it be 1234 -234? The 1 of the second set of 4 is silent...

    • @RobsongsMusic
      @RobsongsMusic  3 года назад

      Hi! Thanks for your comment! Well, this is a way to understand the rhythm by using two groups of numbers (one with 1234 and another one with 123). They are not necessarily related to musical figures. When you relate those rhythms to beats or measure (in the case of samba 2/4) you can see pauses, but after the pauses it will still be the first number of that group. It's an attempt of understanding those rhythms intuitively!
      Does it make sense for you?

    • @brianmi40
      @brianmi40 3 года назад +1

      @@RobsongsMusic Sure, it would just make more logical sense to indicate visually that you are skipping playing the "1" beat... right?
