About the quest with valve index controllers. I love the index controllers I haven't had their ability issues yet but I've generally been not hooking my controllers around my room and I'm normally very gentle on my beard controllers. Still managed to get stick drift on my quest controllers but I was able to fix it because I own an air compressor. Which really helps when you have stick drift.
I def want to see a review of the Bigscreen Beyond because I've been considering jumping to that from quest 2, and I think I need to see more of it to finalize if I'm gonna get it or get like the vive xr elite
And this is why I refuse to break from the Index: ease of use. I boot it, SteamVR boots, Im in the SteamVR Home room and off we go. The controllers being heavy is new to me. The resolution is a bit of a bother now, but its not like my PC can deal with anything more at the moment.
I love the wireless PCVR experience on the quest 3, after upgrading my wifi it's almost flawless that and the new steam link app on the quest make it a great experience all together!
Great video @Naysy , and I appreciate all the work you must put into these! I'm wanting to make my quest 3 my main headset and I'm almost done with my PC build, so I'm pretty hyped to do some higher quality mixed reality stuff. It's been a long time coming.
Your way of presenting your thoughts and experiences is incredible. I wish you had a Pico 4 you've accumulated a lot of experience with headsets and you are very capable at presenting your findings through your videos. Well Quest 3 makes the most sense as a purchase right now might be time I pulled the trigger. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for the detailed review as been on the fence what to upgrade my vr headset into. Rather bananas how long been holding back but this sure helped me to narrow down what to get
I can see where you’re coming from and it’s understandable that not all headsets are one size fits all. While personally I’ll still be content with the PCVR landscape I hope you enjoy your Quest 3
Nice video Naysy im running the Quest 3 and I use link cable for Beat Saber so I don't have any lag spikes. But when im playing Gorilla Tag PCVR I use air link so I can turn around. And for some reason when I use air link in my room where my PC is air link lags and disconnects but when I use air link in my living room where my wifi router is it's so much better. idk but i thought that if the headset is closer to the PC then it's better but I was wrong.
I was a Vive headset user since the first, but swapped to the Quest 3 on release & never went back. Best headset by far. Wireless is literally game changing.
This video was a delicious banana. I've been wondering when the Valve Index was going to start showing its age and I guess that time is upon us. I know as soon as I got my Quest 3, my Quest 2 went in the bargain bin. Translation: I gave it to my wife. I love the Quest 3 a lot more than then its predecessor and I've been playing more VR games than ever before. It's a really tough package to beat right now.
Can confirm, have an Asus GT-AXE11000 now with Wifi 6e and the occasionally occurring lag is gone when I move my head faster around. Thought it is a bug but its not. Together with Virtual Desktop, its really nice and now I'm back to my old performance in Beat Saber. Couldn't beat my Rift S (cable) scores. Now its like a cable connection and using PC VR a lot more, because its just working and I can play where I have space and not attached to a 7m cable..
I was waiting for the store to open to get my quest 3 on launch day as the only one there. Love it so far because its not the best in any category, but its above average for everything for a ok price
I bought the Quest 3 on launch day, after having the quest 2 for quite a while. Settin gup streams and getting the Quest 3 to work with Airlink sucked when it first came out, so I bought Virtual Desktop to help in streaming, but you can't pin windows with VD. I finally went back to airlink because they fixed it quite a bit. I did buy some great headphones to go along with the 3 and upgraded from the M2 to M3 strap with the conversion kit. Banana
I had valve index and big screen and sold them to get a quest 3 and im staying for the long run. Simply the quest can do everything the others do but I also now have WIRELESS capabilities. And I paired them with the Quest pro controllers and its amazing. Yes I could've used my valve index controllers which had better tracking and finger tracking BUT I would still need the light houses and need to play around with mods for it to work which just wasn't for me as far as being able to use something anywhere anytime.
Tbh the Index controllers may feel even heavier because of their shape. There's a big difference between having all the weight inside the part that you're holding (Quest Pro, Quest 3) and having parts of that weight away from your hand (Index) as that weight will try to twist your hand and that's something else you need to counteract The Quest 2 conteollers aren't that bad because the external part goes over your thumb and it kinda balances itself out
I have a Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter, and Index controllers. I like the Index controllers. The only real problem has been grip actuations. Because it has finger tracking, it sends a light touch of the grip as a "button pressed" signal to games, and most games assume you're using a controller where a grip activation requires a much more deliberate squeeze. This leads to a lot of false positives, which can be a real problem depending on the game. Fiddling with the bindings in SteamVR can sometimes reduce this effect, but usually not. I find wireless essential for any roomscale game. The wireless adapter *mostly* works, but it's really frustrating when I get a disconnect. I really want something that's more reliable, but don't want reduced resolution compared to the Pro 2, and I'm a bit skeptical of the tracking accuracy of the Quest when you don't have base stations.
Banana! Awesome video Naysy. Been primarily playing with my Q3 linked to my PC and it's definitely the best bang-for-the-buck for sure compared to an Index.
My biggest beef with the index is how it feels like an almost abandoned project. So many games struggle to use their button lay outs, and index compatibility keeps feeling like an afterthought...
I would like to watch your updated thoughts on the Beyond. I originally ran into this channel because you were discussing hardware, and I stayed for the banana.
Hi Naysy! Awesome video as usual.. Hope you see this! Wanted to ask you a question that's been bugging me for ages - what are your settings for getting Virtual Desktop to run Beat Saber with no (or very little) LAG. Mine lags like crazy to the point where it's almost unplayable, even the haptics lag 😭 Also a lot of frame drops... It runs OK with Steam Link, but still has a lot of frame drops. I have a 3080 so surely that's enough for smooth gameplay. Quest standalone version runs beautifully, but I would prefer to use PCVR for custom songs etc.
what naysy uploads to the internet isnt what u see in the headset. Since shes using the quest and using wireless in the headset its kind of laggy. you just gotta find that sweet spot and maybe u even need to upgrade your router. Though i dont need to since its 5G. try getting a 5G router or a Wifi 6 one. they are pretty good id say
If you dont have good wifi or any ethernet and your trying to play pcvr, I think the quest 3 over link cable would be good. But I prefer the valve index because its so much more responsive in vr titles as because its connect directly to the gpu instead of a usb 3 port.
Surprisingly the Quest Pro controllers don't really seem to have any advantages in Beat Saber but I did notice a difference in tracking in other single player story games. For example I remember I was playing a game where I had to reload a shotgun quickly and I was having trouble with the Quest 3 controllers but and then I switched to the Quest Pro controllers and I could do it like it was nothing.
I haven't done wireless in so long. I think my stubbornness about not getting any quest 2 accessories has ruined my perception of wireless VR. I have been using my valve index for 7 months. In that time, I have rarely ever used my quest 2. I think that now better applications are out for PCVR on the quest such as Steam Link, I might reconsider my choices. I am not getting another wireless headset until the Valve Deckard releases though. That will always be my first option.
Valve makes incredible games and gear!..... But the gear hasn't updated and there's great options out there! I do recommend the Quest 3 for friends and family, though I use a Pico 4 in the US which is comparable, but has a few headaches. Love this video because VALVE NEEDS TO HEAR THAT WE WANT AN UPGRADE FROM THEM! 😎 Thanks for your content Naysy!
I can relate with the weight of the controllers, I can´t do some beat saber levels because my arms are so heavy at the end that i can´t lift them fast enough to hit the upper notes. But as I play beat saber to lose weight it´s a plus thing 🤪. Other problem is the grip in Index, I don´t know why but sometimes I can´t get the best grip with my left hand and the movement becomes awkard in the faster songs.
I think that next month everything is going to change with the release of the Pimax Crystal Light. I don't know if you will be able to get it in your country but it is a direct upgrade to the Valve Index in every way and for only $699. Its PCVR only so no messing with the quest 3 setup nonsense. It has the highest resolution of any consumer VR headset on the market. It has aspheric glass lenses that completely remove the godrays and distortion found in all other headsets. Its FOV and refresh rate are also similar to the Index. You can also chose to use lighthouse tracking with Index controllers or the inside out tracking built into the headset with Oculus style controllers. It truly does it all while only being a little more expensive that a Quest 3.
Wired pcvr headsets are perfect for us folks into driving or flight sims! Pretty much all the wired headsets get released and marketed to us sim folks because we need DisplayPort and generally our rigs are expensive and we have the money to buy the expensive wired headsets. For sim racing I only use DisplayPort headsets and when I play games like Alyx Vertigo 2 etc I use quest 3 and virtual desktop. Quest is really bad for simulation games but it’s great for non simulation games.
My Index died in two weeks due to a screen issue. Found the headset was too clunky, Couldn't do what I wanted to out of risk of failure. Just decided to keep it as a paperweight since I'd already gotten my trackers, Just kept my stations and controllers. Gonna get a Q3 and controller dongles sometime.
It's the logical choice. if you want to be relatable to most amount of people you gotta to use the same gear as them. Quast 3 is just the most popular owing to price/performance.
Thanks and g’day fellow Aussie! Q3/QPro/rtx4090 user and I agree that once you go wireless it’s hard to go back to being tethered. I’m thinking about upgrading my wifi5 router by adding a dedicated wifi6e router. Which one are you using? Thanks mate and best cheers from the GC.
Index gave out other day and i have 3 working basestation 2.0 with 3 knuckle controllers and 3 body trackers i bought that i never got to use because i didnt play index for almost a year then bought steering wheel and played it worked great put it down tried next day no display did everything try trouble shoot. Either way jus made sense to get a index again especially since my 4080 will beable to do 144hz. That and i sold a ak skin and got 112 for it so only had pay 400. Im looking around second guessing but it just makes sense
banana , I sure hope Steam makes a better one than the Quest 3 but yes i like it. wish it had the pro's eye tracking and had a external senser to help with tracking of controllers and Full Body Trackers. they say there going to let you use a webcam set up for the quest 3 for body tracking, but have not seen it yet.
There is a big but. Even to get the real resolution that the quest 2 has you need atleast a 3090. Ro get the max out of the quest 3 with pc you even need a more beefy gpu. The controller won't track behind the back. Example synth riders some players like to hit some placed orbs behind the back and that's impossible on the quest. Personally I want to go to the Index instead of a quest 3. If the quest had a display port that it would be easy. Have you ever tryed the 559dollar costing dpvr e4 that has a display port
So I have the knuckles. Those seem to keep up with faster songs like Ghost and Final Boss chan. When ever I use the Quest 3 controllers it cant keep up with the game. My arms are moving but the sabers either jump to another spot a second later, or just disapears for a second. The Quest pro controllers can almost keep up with the knuckles. Also I am using the Vive Pro 2 and it feels faster than the Index.
as someone who used qeuts 2 and 3 the battery is so bad it was a wired headsert cus i always had to use it on charge i will not be going back from my index
Sooooo I play mostly shooters or combat games on vr and I legitimately hate the quest buttons for picking stuff up. I have heard the valve index has actual full finger tracking which sounds fantastic to me. Unless there is a way to get that on the quest 3 I don't see me getting one. I currently have quest 2 and was thinking of switching to the index because I do wired PCVR on steam and my quest 2 is suuuuuper blurry for anything even remotely far away
Steam link is plug and play. Kind wana see you test drive it now XD. also has full quest Pro feature passthrough support, including built in Foviated rendering.
Just got my Quest 3 yesterday, got sick of waiting for the Deckard, and the controllers are crazy lite. I have some straps coming for them today, I have to have them attached to my hands like the Valve knuckles. I wonder if the Deckard will have controllers at all, they will probably be as good as Apple with hand tracking. Meta can't get it right though, maybe Apple is just magical.

I love the wireless PCVR experience on the quest 3, after upgrading my wifi it's almost flawless that and the new steam link app on the quest make it a great experience all together!
less accurate tracking makes speed easier since there is swing overcompensation giving you wider swing angles
Can't even buy the Pico in Australia :'(
This video came at a great time thank you!
There's a big difference between having all the weight inside the part that you're holding (Quest Pro, Quest 3) and having parts of that weight away from your hand (Index) as that weight will try to twist your hand and that's something else you need to counteract
The Quest 2 conteollers aren't that bad because the external part goes over your thumb and it kinda balances itself out
Shoulder pain is from the over the shoulder bolder holders.
Great video naysy ..they all seem so fun you really know how to make it look interesting keep up the great work 💯💯 your doing so great 😎😎😎😎
I have a Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter, and Index controllers.
I can agree !
love your videos they helped me make a lot of choices i am waiting for the Pro controller's to show up now.
Updated bigscreen review for sure. Considering getting one to replace my index
Banana! Awesome video Naysy. Been primarily playing with my Q3 linked to my PC and it's definitely the best bang-for-the-buck for sure compared to an Index.
I want to see an upgraded review of the bigscreen beyond.
someone asked me why I use my quest 3 instead of index... Literally has better resolution, screens, lenses, etc.
I'm gona wait for the BigScreen Beyond 2. Currently have a Quest 3
Welp TIL the Index isn't even for sale in AU! Banana.
🙃
Thanks for the advice I was going to get a valve index
6:54 "power of the saber blade"
I cant wait to upgrade to the quest 3 thx for letting me know
I’d love an updated review on the beyond 👍
I guess I just had another banana. Thanks, Naysy, for posting this. Was very interesting. Love your content as always. ❤ Take care
If you dont have good wifi or any ethernet and your trying to play pcvr, I think the quest 3 over link cable would be good. But I prefer the valve index because its so much more responsive in vr titles as because its connect directly to the gpu instead of a usb 3 port.
Also the vive wand controllers are really heavy. But I still get a higher score and beat saber it's just it's a lot more strenuous on my body
I’m looking forward to the deckard standalone headset.
Thanks for your content Naysy!
Es wird zeit für eine Index2 mit Oled + Höherer Auflösung + Wireleas. Gibt es da schon was neues an infos dazu?
I’m gonna get the index because I’ve always wanted one because I’ve just started to get into steamvr
Do you prefer virtual desktop over steam link for beat saber?
I can relate with the weight of the controllers, I can´t do some beat saber levels because my arms are so heavy at the end that i can´t lift them fast enough to hit the upper notes. But as I play beat saber to lose weight it´s a plus thing 🤪. Other problem is the grip in Index, I don´t know why but sometimes I can´t get the best grip with my left hand and the movement becomes awkard in the faster songs.
I always used valve index but now I love the quest 3
Could you make a new review on the big screen beyond with all your thoughts?
My Index died in two weeks due to a screen issue. Found the headset was too clunky, Couldn't do what I wanted to out of risk of failure.
Just decided to keep it as a paperweight since I'd already gotten my trackers, Just kept my stations and controllers. Gonna get a Q3 and controller dongles sometime.
Banana! Only have ever used the Q2 so I'll have to go with that until I get the money for a Q3.
It's the logical choice. if you want to be relatable to most amount of people you gotta to use the same gear as them. Quast 3 is just the most popular owing to price/performance.
Thanks!
Protocrush remember me Pancake?
thank you! 🤩
@@4Panccaa4 of course! Hope all is well!
One of my questions is, when you are using your quest 3 wirelessly what application do you use to launch pcvr? (Airlink, VD, Steam link?)
I use the one Virtual Desktop recommend. I think it’s an Asus router.
Everyone is now curious if the Index really was buried 😆
Woah, this video is like a snapshot from 2013 lol.
What is your camera setup? It’s probably the best I have seen on YT
Chat here's the thing. They can release the best vr headset ever but I'm still getting and Index for Christmas IDC!!
Prob q3 for bday tho
banana , I sure hope Steam makes a better one than the Quest 3 but yes i like it. wish it had the pro's eye tracking and had a external senser to help with tracking of controllers and Full Body Trackers. they say there going to let you use a webcam set up for the quest 3 for body tracking, but have not seen it yet.
Also I am using the Vive Pro 2 and it feels faster than the Index.
honestly I don't blame you for switching to the quest 3
EB games is a throwback.
I still prefer the index, wireless is so insanely hit and miss for the main games I play I just cannot switch over, I need that response time.
as someone who used qeuts 2 and 3 the battery is so bad it was a wired headsert cus i always had to use it on charge i will not be going back from my index
Naysy: Valve Index is not the best
Me: still uses Oculus Rift
🍌
Well that’s made me feel even better about choosing the Quest 3.
Banana 🍌
No one should be waiting in valves time. Enjoy VR what's currently out there.
HTC vive XR elite has entered the room😂. All the praise you gave it and many other content creators..now seems to be a figment of everyone's imagination. Maybe amnesia?
I dunno if i praised it lol. Since the Quest 3 came out, it's hard to justify the XR Elite
Mine is the quest 3 and I love your videos ❤❤❤
update review on Bigscreen beyond please, I beg uwu
ive been using the quest pro controllers with my quest 3 and i feel like im doing better in beat saber but im definitely getting a workout they are significantly heavier haha but i just play on expert not expert plus lol
That's good to know!
Quest 2 is my favorite
same expert plus is too hard for me
@@NaysyI’ve been using the quest 3 and doing it with the controllers and a good headstrap and i beat ghost with it and no arm strain or any of that!
@@TheCrazyMan3 I’ll have to try it again with the quest 3 controllers cause I feel like they weigh half what the pro controllers do Dx cause in multiplayer everybody votes for ghost or power of the saber blade then they all lose.. I wanna beat it when all the random people pick it to be a troll
doesn't matter the resolution of the quest 3 is it still lower resolution because it is an encoded image from your computer
i use the pico 4. But i think the controllers are really a bit heavy because i kinda get wrist problems while playing too much. so hmm i will be fine 😂
Hi
