I need to come up and do another video soon. This is the only time I have filmed the 105. I was friends with JJ before he passed, he let me know he had the 105 that day.
I love the shots where the insects are heard before that annoying bell clanging. Gotta love how efficient this RR is... 2 crews & 2 locomotives to spot 2 rail cars. Wow ! Are they still in business or is this just a weekend hobby for these guys ?
I am going to Gettysburg this weekend and to New Freedom to ride the new train. Do you know any of the main radio frequencies for Gettysburg R.R., CSX in Gettysburg or the Steam into History train? Do you know if Gettysburg R.R. operates on weekends?
Scott, this may be an old engine or in maintenance a lot, but this GP9 is a monster at Notch 8! And you did an excellent job with filming 105! I always watch this because this I find the best GP9 video you have uploaded! Darius speaking
You thought the ND&W was bad, the maumee barely gained a profit margin large enough to turn wheels. The trainmen are probably paid low, like 30,000+ a year. It's a small but yet functional shortline now. MAW about let the thing rot to the ground...literally. Good video Scott. Always enjoy watching them. Mike
Oh good there was someone protecting the crossing. As a railroader I was having a heart attack watching him what look like shove blind over a crossing.
There's one of these locomotives near my house with no markings and no numbers, does this mean it's been abandoned? I haven't seen it move in more than a decade but I don't watch it all the time.
I wonder if there is something wrong with the loco, because it shouldn't be struggling THAT much with only two cars.... and I can't see any locked wheels.
Sounds like the 105 has a "dead cylinder" probably a bad injector or valves that need adjustment if you take note of the chug chug chug chug noise it makes at idle! that is the sound of pure compression going right out the exhaust stack Good video though and I agree with others I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near that train going that speed on those terrible tracks...LOL
I suppose you have some experience around locomotives? This unit hasn't seen much use and I suppose that could be one of the reasons why. Thanks for watching!
rockinrollfan37 Me too! I think it is the sound of the air compressor actually. Just more noticeable when there aren't other noises from when the train is moving :P If you are talking about chugging.... look for videos of GE locomotives... they really do some chugging!
You couldn't pay me enough to be anywhere inside or even near that train on those tracks. They look like they're ready to just buckle apart in places. Dafuq???
This engine doesn't seem to appear much in your vids. Is it regularly used or is it just a spare? "Git outta my way!" it says to Prex 1606 @ 7:00 (LOL)
Seems like a whole bunch of power and moderate speed for just 2 cars in the first two scenes. Awesome video.
Thank you. It's exciting to see this railroad being used and rehabilitated.
Thanks for watching
I love these old geeps! Brings back memories from the old Northern Pacific and the GP9's and F units..
I'd have enjoyed being able to see that!
Another awesome video!!!! Just can’t get enough of the short lines. Great work Scott
Thank you! Short lines are the most fun to chase!
Nice video. GREAT to see some of these old locomotives STILL in action!
Thanks! As far as I've been told its only made about 4 trips from Woodburn to Cecil. It was OOS for awhile nut was repaired last month.
105 Gp9 really know how to smoke next to 1603 GP16. Got to love the Gp9s. By the way im the manger of this line

A very handsome paint job on the GP 9
. Loved the video
Thank you
Love the shot @ 5:00. Rails? Look more like a couple of liquorice straps!
Great video and catch! Love the horn.
I'm surprised they still haven't gotten around to fixing those crossing signals so they're functioning again.
Thank you!
Should call this video..."trains in the weeds".😁👍
I heard they are to be fixed and not replaced. Hoping so because they are rare.
I'd like to see that here in the future.

That ol' girl, sounds great, with those twin silencers.
I'm not sure where they originate but Lafarge receives them.
4:05 Oh deer.
One at 2:13, too!
Oh good there was someone protecting the crossing. As a railroader I was having a heart attack watching him what look like shove blind over a crossing.

Lol thanks for watching!
great catch....
Wow those are some old signals at 1:45.
I wish they were active
Love that horn!!
They left it tied down at the switch and it was in the way. No sure why they left it there again.
I haven't seen an A&W there.
Fantastic! How often do they use this unit?
Delay In Block Productions Its a spare but it’s used more often now
I haven't been to Gettysburg in years so can't help you out, sorry. This loco now works in NW Ohio. Sorry it took me days to reply, I was out of town.
+F for Jason Henry
Nice video. Where are the tank cars from?
Is that a fouled rs3L?
Love videos of old bad. Track
what is the history of this gp9
That'd be awesome to find out.
Info on # 105,It formerly seen service on what R.R.?,Was it RDG,N&W,B&O,or QNS&L?
It was built as GTW 4548
Is the A&W still open in Antwerp?
Did they finally start fixing the track?
this Loco has a d e ad cylinder am I right? I see a lot of raw diesel and hearing what sounds like a miss
Why do they allow flammable materials to go down track like this? I mean, have you ever saw a tank car with liquid propane explode?....
Hopefully the don’t carry propane!
Those deer almost fucked up and became pancakes.
What's up with that crossing signal @1:46?
Non functional, since been replaced.
There's one of these locomotives near my house with no markings and no numbers, does this mean it's been abandoned? I haven't seen it move in more than a decade but I don't watch it all the time.
Probably not abandoned but likely not longer in use.
that gp9 is booking it
I wonder if there is something wrong with the loco, because it shouldn't be struggling THAT much with only two cars.... and I can't see any locked wheels.
The locomotive was not struggling. The engineer was my buddy so he notched up and made it smoke for my video.
look like it was struggling to me
Gosh the internet is full of know it all tool bags
lol
Those signals haven't operated in years..
Cool video
what happened at 2:35? Did the engineer offer you a ride?
Yes. Unfortunately I couldn't accept, I couldn't leave my wife and son at the crossing!
Haha oh that's too bad
+Scott Taipale That had to suck!
awesome great cach
Thanks for watching!
IS THIS AN EX QUEBEC NORTHSHORE & LABRADOR GP9?
No it was originally GTW
Not a whole lot of maintenance on those rails.
Scott, Will the ND&W Even get fixed?
It will never be a pristine mainline, possibly never even get new rail but they are making strides to improve conditions
Scott Taipale Oh!
Anyone else catch he set the cars brakes and bailed of the locomotive? My guess is to pinch pennies and not burn up your locomotive brake shoes
OH deer...Nice deer at the 4:06 mark.
One at 2:13, too.
What state is this at?
Ohio
I try not to stand close to any moving train.
to all the tools this engine is over 50 years old and by engine standards its past its use by date be nice
Ummm, why was he shoving blind over a public crossing at grade?
The conductor was behind me in a company in a company vehicle blocking the road.

I hope to see some more action of this classic EMD hopefully they keep it operational
rockinrollfan37 Me too!
I think it is the sound of the air compressor actually. Just more noticeable when there aren't other noises from when the train is moving :P
If you are talking about chugging.... look for videos of GE locomotives... they really do some chugging!
Great video but man are those tracks in bad shape!
You couldn't pay me enough to be anywhere inside or even near that train on those tracks. They look like they're ready to just buckle apart in places. Dafuq???
progrocker69
Ok
WOW, what an engine rattle!!!! Sounds like an old go-kart!!! That's worse than the engine rattle Maw-5 (yellow santa-fe) loco had!!
Over 60 years old and never been rebuilt!
This engine doesn't seem to appear much in your vids. Is it regularly used or is it just a spare? "Git outta my way!" it says to Prex 1606 @ 7:00 (LOL)
It has spent a lot of time broke down though it was spotted running a train this week.
Scott Taipale AND YET it has the best horn sound ever!
Hopefully new Pioneer ownership aren't as cheap as the old regime. Few shortlines rehab old motors, track.
Beautiful unit but god she could use a better horn.
Old switchers die with their boots on.
They should not use that track until they put a new one down, its dangerous.
***** Oh their making enough... their just keeping it.
That's one gutless ass loco, goin at run 8 with two cars
The engineer put it in run 8 to give me some smoke, had nothing to do with the condition of the locomotive
Lol.
cowboy railroaders
Thanks for watching!
