Over the next few weeks, I'll be uploading alternative title sequences for the first three Doctors. Each will feature 'unused' howlaround footage from the original recordings, and also be generally 'spruced up' with a 1080p upscale conversion. I don't aim to make better variations on the original titles, as they are simply too iconic for that! It's just so I can try out various ideas, to see what might have been...
Here, we have Troughton's. Credit to Bernard Lodge for the footage used, and the logo design used too. I didn't exactly aim to use much unused footage here, I wanted to instead focus on making the howlaround seem more '3D', the same with the use of a faux 3D effect on Troughton's face. I though it'd be nice to incorporate a 'credit' for Troughton as well, as that was never a convention for any of the classic series titles; I though it worked best here, bridging a gap between the face and the logo to extend the sequence out further.

Wonderful work as always! The nebula footage when Troughton's name and the Doctor Who logo appeared evoked the end credits of The Time Meddler, very era appropriate.

Great work! Although I imagine if the Doctor's appearance was this ominous in the original intro it would've scared the fuck out of the kids.

Wasn’t this video banned in the US cause if it was good job on getting this masterpiece back to our screens.

Great video (as always). Would've been better if you included Frazer Hines' and Deborah Watling's as well, but still excellent video!

Where did you get the electronic spangles track from? I thought the BBC Radiophonic Workshop discarded the tape with it on after using it for the Patrick Troughton opening titles? AFAIK Mark Ayres whom has all the BBC Radiophonic Workshop tapes doesn't have the Dr.Who theme music electronic spangles tape.

Was never discarded, rather 'misplaced' or 'lost' after pulling it from the master tape for the 1969 Title Sequence. Danny and Ian Stewart, really known in the Theme Community (and many others too) have been able to Isolate the Electronic Spangles from the '67 Theme. It's a very complicated process that would take far too long to explain. However, if you have seen the recent Animations and Bluray Collections, you'll notice that the 5.1 remixes have the spangles pulled from the original audio by Mark Ayres, whom did that way back in 1998 - 2001, so it exists in the form of isolation by Mark. It's not in the best of quality though (nor is it anywhere obtainable online) which can be done much better like what Danny and Ian Stewart did via the same method, Isolation.

Because neither the uploader, nor the Internet, nor RUclips, nor modern computers were a thing in the 1960s.

They could have used this for Power of the Daleks :)
(Although that episode was created before the new howlaround titles were created, but still...)

Not really an excuse. The TARDIS is a time machine. 😂
