  • Follow the lean journey of a growing donut shop as it troubleshoots the adoption of lean manufacturing tools and principles.
    EPISODE 10 SUMMARY
Realize how useful standard time is invaluable for not only scheduling production but also delivering constant feedback to employees working the process. Lean processes and visual controls have PDCA embedded into them with frequent "plan vs. actual" feedback. This helps operators and managers alike to make frequent micro-adjustments and detect when conditions are abnormal to standard. Daniel created this scheduling tool through a lot of trial-and-error and eventually made it analog so everyone in the business could view it and build production schedules.
    ABOUT THE LEAN DONUT SHOP
The Lean Donut Shop is a real-life company (aka The Donut Theory, thedonuttheory.com) that was birthed in 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting in a home kitchen, the business took off! It grew into a temporary shared commercial kitchen and a 1947 Ford Half Ton mobile donut truck, and later into a brick-and-mortar storefront in the Fall of 2021.
