It had some really good moments too unironically. Chpater 25 with Lumera was amazing. The death of the hounds was surprisingly sad for such evil villains
I think Alear is the child of a fell dragon who defected and was adopted by Lumera, who transferred her power to them to revive them. So when they wake up they’re half fell Dragon and half divine dragon.
Alear is the child of the Fell Dragon. But he/she turned his back on the Fell Dragon. And then the Fell Dragon tried to kill him/her. But Lumera took him/her in. And, gave him/her her Divine Dragon powers, At least that’s what I understand. There is a scene where Alear clearly tries to kill the Fell Dragon towards the end in a flashback.

Man I loved it when they said “You can’t defeat us, we ARE the Fire Emblem” and then Fire Emblem Engage’d all over the enemy. What do you mean they actually did that
I always love the unique battle dialogue between characters. It really sets your playthrough apart from others (assuming you're not deliberately going for all of them). The Diamant vs Morion one had me with all the feels
After playing the game i can't imagine Alear without the split hair, it just looks weird. Odd how my stance ended up completely reversing from the reveal to now.
So according what what I’m aware of. This is the fate of all emblems. They fight in wars to defeat vastly powerful godly dragon deities, only to die as legendary heroes to become spirits as emblems. The end of this game kind of was bitter sweet. A good ending to be sure but…. Well, it seems like engage set the stage for the end of the long history of fire emblem and it’s many stories of the past. Now, as the past emblems fade, a new future is born. One where new emblems will come fourth.

Apparently the game was made by the same team that made Fates (which explains the lackluster story, but good gameplay)... But totally agree, I might be in the minority, but I care way more about story/characters than gameplay :/

Love the characters designs in Fire Emblem Engage as they looked more anime than the game in fact they should do anime series feature from the game with a female Alear as the main character than the male Alear.
There are four possibilities which I like/think are feasible, not counting it being a completely new character (which I just FEEL is unlikely). Since it's definitely DLC bait, I think there's a good chance of it being (an) Anna. Remember that Anna served as the DLC superboss in Awakening also, so there's a precedent for this. She doesn't really fit with the lore/description, though. The other likely option is just Alear via time travel shenanigans, with the context of how this happened being revealed in DLC. They (pre-Lumera adoption) fit Sombron's description very well, and the whole reason he brought it up in the first place was because Emblem Alear reminded him of the Emblem of Foundations. A less likely but cool idea I like is it being Naga, who in many respects is the foundation of the Fire Emblem series, and seems to act primarily alone. This is less likely though as the series' overarching lore seems far more focused on this new multiversal outrealms stuff than the Naga/original dragons background plot from the early entries. The neat wildcard option would be Sommie, who thus far is pretty unexplained, and I like the possibility of the pillar-thing you meet it on being its "emblem pedestal," like all the other rings have.
@@g6826 I'm pretty certain Awakening was the first to make it a thing. Anna was just an easter egg character before that, either running the secret shops or handling the tutorials, neither of which were really treated like canon things in their games (except Roy's tutorial which was taught by Cecilia and is literally his game's prologue that most people aren't aware of).
Great job on this edit. After clearing the game, rewatching this shows the story isn't as bad as people think. The foreshadowing is actually quite nice.
I have a question about the Prologue cutscene: is it a premonition, a dream, something like that? I could understand if it’s Marth giving Alear a more positive side of how the fell dragon was first defeated, but why would the present characters be there?
I was wondering that as well. The definition if premonition is 'a strong feeling that something is about to happen, especially something unpleasant'. I believe that it was ment to show what would/might happen in the future. It did not actually happen
They were ripping off Awakening's foreshadowing prologue but forgot to tie it in with the actual plot events later in development. So the only possible canon answer is that it was literally only a dream (which included people Alear has never met yet). Although Alfred talked about coming to pray over Alear while he/she slept - was that a thing only he did, or was it a tradition among all of the royals? If it was the latter, then that could (loosely) explained how Alear dreamed of it.
@@LoudWaffle The definition if premonition is 'a strong feeling that something is about to happen, especially something unpleasant'. I believe that it was ment to show what would/might happen in the future. It did not actually happen
@@Daredesuka2234 I saw your comment, it was made 4 days before I made mine. There's no need to copy-paste it and tag me, if I thought it was relevant to mine I would have mentioned it. A premonition is a strong FEELING, so like "I have an unexplainable feeling that something bad will happen, guys." A premonition is not a fully-detailed sequence of (potentially-)future events. More to the point, the beginning sequence isn't even a bad/unpleasant event, since it involves defeating Sombron alongside our friends.
Oh and I went back and checked, Alfred only says that he himself visited Alear while they slept. And since none of the other nobles recognize Alear, that supports the conclusion that the prologue scene makes zero sense. Fighting Sombron alongside Marth could be explained as a metaphorical dream related to information and desires Alear has from during the prior war, but the fact that Alear has absolutely no way to know about 3/4 of the nobles in the scene rules out the chance that it's a dream. And if it was a magical, prophetic dream, then the fact that these events don't ever come close to actually happening means this hypothesis makes even less sense.
The story definitely leaves a lot to be desired come chapter 22 where it all falls apart (I can’t take this seriously anymore after all that. Time travel. It’s not even like the outrealms in Awakening- you literally went back in time in the same world without creating a time paradox). At least the gameplay is top tier for modern standards. Like Three Houses, the game's cutscenes are movie or TV Series material. I hope that Nintendo Pictures and Universal Studios/Warner Bros Discovery will distribute this after Super Mario Bros Movie and part of the Nintendo Cinematic Universe Ala Marvel with a Smash Bros crossover.
Surprisingly enough, there might not actually be any moral differences between the two, considering in the Fell Xenologue we'll be helping two Fell Dragon siblings that are good against mysterious enemies that use the Corrupted. Sombron is just an a$$hole, period
I have to buy this game and before someone says, but you spoiled the ending well it is not about the destination but about the journey that gets you there.

I wonder if Tibarn could’ve been an emblem as well? The ring of the Sky Lord. Soar freely, Emblem of Beasts!
Love it.

The credit picture of Anna is too funny somehow ^^
Like Three Houses, the game's cutscenes are movie or TV Series material. I hope that Nintendo Pictures and Universal Studios/Warner Bros Discovery will distribute this after Super Mario Bros Movie and part of the Nintendo Cinematic Universe Ala Marvel with a Smash Bros crossover.
I can’t play the games but with this i learn all about the game
did anyone else realize that Diamant and Morion’s relationship is supposed to be a parallel to eliwood and roy?? i’m crying rn hold up
Fire Emblem: Damn, and you thought Corrin's family was trailer park trash!
Is the first cutscene the battle 1,000 years ago? If it is how are the other characters there?
No
In chapter 1 I get when clanne loses his tome and can’t fight but doesn’t famme fight with her fist? Why can’t she defend herself
You need to hold the magic scroll weapon to be able to fight with your fists... because you just do. :^)
@@LoudWaffle I don’t think that’s true at all and if it is true then it makes no sense.
@@Doorkey2 Like, it is true, because it's literally how it works in the game. It doesn't make sense, that's correct.
@@LoudWaffle like zoinks scoob
And you think the heroes had a sad past...the hounds are so dramatic til the end
Chapter 10 was great… too bad everything else was kinda… predictable.
Also, I love Veyle’s character development.
Screw the haters! This game is amazing!
My chapters for this story
Prologue, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Paralogue 1, Chapter 6, Paralogue 2, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 10, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, Chapter 13, Chapter 14, Chapter 15, Chapter 16, Chapter 17, Chapter 18, Chapter 19, Chapter 20, Chapter 21, Chapter 22, Paralogue 3-14, Fell Xenologue, Divine Paralogue, Chapter 23, Chapter 24, Chapter 25, Paralogue 15, Chapter 26.
What is the difference between a divine and a fell dragon? Only the moral compass? They are both super powerfull manaketes.
Power of light and power of darkness basically
You're thinking of it harder than the writers did.
Surprisingly enough, there might not actually be any moral differences between the two, considering in the Fell Xenologue we'll be helping two Fell Dragon siblings that are good against mysterious enemies that use the Corrupted. Sombron is just an a$$hole, period
and they mention the fateful meeting in heroes, must say it is a nice story
I have to buy this game and before someone says, but you spoiled the ending well it is not about the destination but about the journey that gets you there.
Solm voice actors are the best actors, especially queen seforia
How did Alear turned her hair back to red-blue after the all-blue in chapter 22? What happened there?
Their hair is only all blue like that in their emblem form (?) I think
@@snsech Would make sense. Can't confirm since I don't have the game^^ Is Alear now only a supporting Emblem like the others on the battlefield or still her own person?
@@steffent.6477 From what I understood, Alear still has a physical body, and they have to actively transform to use their powers as an Emblem. So their case is different compared to the others

Why are there chains on Veyles feet?
The moment I saw Lumera I knew what would happen ^^
