Amazing! I’m 15 and remember my old singing teacher teaching me this one when I was 8 or 9 but I never got a sheet of the words as it was more just a song he sang in the last ten minutes of the class to fill time. I could always remember the name but not much else and until today I’ve not been able to find a good video with the tune. Thank you so much for this.
Jeez I’d have never guessed this was a Scottish trad , iv only ever heard big hamish’s version , plus a couple others , Sam your going places man , really exiting for us folkies t see 👍

a' this great nation a' lord I have been and
I've travelled through Scotland and Ireland, and a'
And the name I go under's bold Erin-go-bragh
One night in Auld Reekie as I walked down the street
A saucy big polis I chanced on to meet
He glowered in my face and he gi'ed me some jaw
Singing' "When cam' ye over, bold Erin-go-bragh?"
"Well I'm not Erin but Erin I have been

But your not a Scotsmen as soon as you're here
You left your ain country for breaking the law
And we're rounding up the stragglers from Erin-go-bragh"
So I bet you a Dirk that I held in my fist
Around his big body I made it for to twist
And the blood from his napper I quickly did draw
paid him stock-and-interest for Erin-go-bragh
Then the people came around like a flock of wild geese
singing "Catch that daft rascal, he's killed the police"
And for every friend I had I'll swear he had twa
It was terrible hard times for Erin-go-bragh
So I jumped in my wee boat and sailed across the Forth
And I packed up my gear and I headed for the North
Fareweel to Auld Reekie, you polis and a'
And the devil gang with you, says Erin-go-bragh
So come all you young people, wherever you are from
I don't give a damn to what place you belong

I think this is in modal tuning? Lots of hammer-ons 3rd fret 4th string while striking open 3rd maybe? Anyone able to confirm or tried to learn it?
Heireann go Brea is more correct spelling ... gh denotes SS gestaPOLIs IA spelling post the churchill plantation .
