    I think Bob Eubanks was probably the best personable Game Show host ever!
    He just seem to be able make the "contestant" embarrassed with the questions he asked them without actually embarrassing them too much! 😳
    Ala the Newlyweds!
    With Card Sharks, he was a lot more subtle but still the "Imp"😉 that made him such a good Game Show Host! He's right up there with Alex Trebek!👼

      I saw a version of the Newlywed Game where they briefly had a brief bonus round in which the winning newlyweds played a question against a couple of "goldyweds", a couple that had formerly been newlywed champions. (I didn't care for that version of the Newlywed Game, but I found that "goldywed" bonus round intriguing.

      Especially when it stands between the player and the Money Cards (but even on the Jim Perry version on NBC, duplicates were incorrect answers, not just in the game, but also on the Money Cards; it wasn't until 1980 that the rule was changed where there was no benefit or penalty for a duplicate in the Money Cards, which is how it was here on CBS w/Eubanks, and in syndie w/Rafferty [the main-game loss of control penalty for duplicates has always remained unchanged]).

    One stupid rule I hated about Card Sharks was that if a person bet higher or lower and the next card was the same, you automatically lose, which was just stupid.
    In other words, if you got a tie, you automatically lose.
    For example, if you have the highest card in the Hoyle Hierarchy, which is an Ace, you bet lower, and the next card was an Ace, you automatically lose.
    Likewise, if your current card is a 2, lowest in the Hoyle Hierarchy, you bet higher and next card is a two, you also automatically lose.
    If Card Sharks got rid of the stupid "tie rule", and make the contestant automatically win if there's a tie, the game would be more exciting.
    Jim Perry should be ashamed of himself there.

    • @stevebier710
      @stevebier710 Год назад +1

      Two things…
      1: That rule was changed in late 1980, and a “tie” card was referred to as a “push”. No win, no loss.
      2: Why should Jim Perry be ashamed of himself? He didn’t make the rules. He just hosted the show.
