As a man in his 40s, three things made me appreciate the Prequels:
    1. Watching the Clone Wars
    2. Trying to fix the prequel movies and discovering what is actually already there.
    3. Watching them 400 times with my kids until I got numb to the worst parts.

I always thought the prequels should have started around where attack of the clones started, just so we have enough time with good adult anakin to really feel it when he turns to the dark side
I understand that George wanted to tell Anakin's entire story, but it's hard to go from a slave child to a noble Jedi night to Darth Vader in just 6 hours, and make it properly emotional. There just was never any breathing room to show both the positive and negative sides of Anakin with the short amount of time, it just feels like character whiplash. And thats why a lot of people seem to think Hayden Christensen's Anakin comes off as psycho, because we only see the downfall
but The Clone Wars does give us that breathing room and the positive aspects of Anakin's character to fully appreciate the tragedy of his character

Hear me out. I’ve liked the Disney era of Star Wars more than most. But the biggest missed opportunity in my mind was Star Wars Resistance. Compare how much Clone Wars adds to the prequels compared to what Resistance does to the Sequels. I really do think Disney needs to make another animated series. Give us stories with characters like Phasma, Hux, Finn, Kylo, Rey, etc. It is proven by clone wars that they can make bland or uninteresting characters into something truly special 🙌🏾. And I believe that the information we get in TROS gives the writers a lot more potential with a story for the show. Finn Force sensitive, Rey Palpatine, Palpatine, etc

But I finally started it last week (because I was too impatient for the last couple of episodes of TCW) and wasn't really convinced that I'd like it. But man I'm kind of loving it. It's not as mature as TCW and I have my problems with it but I am so surprised with this show. • @njux1871
      @njux1871 4 года назад

The characters of Rebels are extremely shallow and sadly, especially in comparison, so is the worldbuilding. What rebellion? What's with the helictopter lightsabers? What happened to clones/stormtroopers have a face? Talking about saving some planets we don't know, and thus don't care about. Just like the sequels. In Clone Wars, you got to get to know those planets, you really knew those places, the galaxy quite literally became your second home. And then, Rebels main place, it's just uninteresting, because it's never really delved into. And of course, then there's the problem that there is no sense of urgency whatsoever because you just know all in this group will get out at the end of the day. It's remarkable that the best episodes are those with Ahsoka and Maul. Why is that, I wonder?
Then, it's still not a BAD show. It has its moments. It's a nice show with a few GREAT moments. It just doesn't use all of that potential. I can REALLY recommend Cosmonaut Variety Hours' takes on both Clone Wars and Rebels.

I completely agree, as I kid I loved the prequels but as I grew up, I began to see a lot of its flaws. However I always loved the clone wars show. It’s a mix of nostalgia and storytelling. There were stories that were fun and relaxing while there were episodes that were serious and impactful to the central story and even expanded the prequels. That’s why I like that era over the sequels as the sequels didn’t add much and didn’t provide a reason for its existence.

I think people tend to like the story and the world of the prequels and look past their flaws as actual movies, but the clone wars helped really flesh out that world and story and make it one of the most beloved eras.

clone wars did what the sequels failed to do. they hinted at all these great, revolutionary (to star wars) concepts in tfa like finn, a stormtrooper, being an actual person. never pulled through with it.
and clone wars took the clones and gave them distinct personalities, turned them into the stars of the show. they said "hey, what if the council had tried to help anakin learn to let go instead of just constantly berating him?" and gave him a padawan. and the result of both of those risks? People fucking loved it.
I'll never understand why Disney didn't just take a good hard look at clone wars' achievements and tried to learn from them instead of driving their trilogy against a wall but whatever i guess.

The Prequels did such a great job at world building, they just lacked execution in some aspects of the films (bad dialogue, minor plot holes, etc...). For me, clone wars has been my favourite piece of Star Wars visual media for a couple of years now. It's hard as well to consider how it's affected my feelings for the prequels because I view it as a different thing and the same thing simultaneously, for a lack of better words. Makes no fucking sense I know lol, but that's the best way I can describe it, it's so different yet so familiar. So I don't think it impacts my opinions of the Prequels much and tbh as films I love them. Yes the dialogue isn't great in places (as it is for every single Star Wars film) but there so much more to a film than dialogue. I love the acting (I think it's only fair to seperate it from dialogue, just look at the scenes where Hayden and Natalie don't speak, the amount of emotion and turmoil they convey is amazing), story, themes, motifs, structure, editing, pacing, cinematography, effects, ideas, storytelling ect and it doesn't nail everything all the time, no film does, but for what it has I love it and think they are damn good films. They sure as hell ain't bad, most films ever made are much worse than the PT and the critics agree too, I wouldn't consider the worst ones score out of them, TPM critic or fan scores as necessarily bad, just disappointing and average at the very worst, but it's decent to good as a film to me

I love the OT, but the prequel era’s character, imagery, and overall conflict is more interesting. The whole “rebels vs evil empire” shtick has gotten old, especially as a result of the ST. The struggles of the Jedi and clones fighting a war where everyone is doomed is simply more appealing than rebels shooting storm troopers over and over and blowing up increasingly bigger super weapons. My feelings could also be a result of Disney’s constant use of the OT imagery and era, as opposed to creating new imagery.

I avoided your channel for years because I loved the prequels, and it felt like in everything you put out you were being extremely negative about them. You didn’t see comments from me simply because I disagreed with your content and stayed away from your videos. I would imagine as you started to release content that was less negative, there were a lot of people like me that slowly began to watch your channel.

I only found Hellogreedo recently, so I'm a bit surprised to hear he had a lot of negativity in his early RUclipsr years. This HG that I'm only familiar with seems like a nice, open minded and generally chill guy.

Man I just gotta say, you have been the realest dude when it comes to star wars. I remember seeing you when I was a young teen and really man I just gotta say you’re the greatest -Drunk Cam in his 20’s

The Clone Wars series frustrates me because it shows that the prequels could have been so much better if it had a talented team working on them instead of just George Lucas being surrounded by a bunch of yes-men and a blue screen.

I'm 32 and proud to say I enjoy all 3 trilogies. Is the original trilogy the best? Yes, but I love all 9 films.

So nice to see how much Hellogreedo has grown over the years. His channel went from a prequel hate channel to one of the only places of positivity in the star wars fandom

I remember watching the movie opening with the battle of christophsis and 8 year old me was blown away. Probably the equivalent to many OT fan’s cantina scene. Growing up with this show was so fun and slept on as a kid and I’m so happy it’s getting the appreciation it deserves. It’s been a long and fun ride since then and I hope this last season brings in more fans and Star Wars opportunities to come (Vader animated show??👀)

To Honest though, the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars series both made the Original Trilogy much more Powerful.

I think it’s important to acknowledge the achievements and the shortcomings of each era. I just hope the sequel era can get its own companion piece to make that story better.

I grew up with the prequels I watch episode 3 as my first movie of star wars next thing you know clone wars was coming out that year. I love the show when it came out, and it made me watch the 4,5, and 6. I love those movies as well, but the prequels will always stand out to me as my star wars the ones I love because it what got me into star wars, and I am so happy to be part of this fan base.

*For Me it Was Different* I Watched *TFA* and thought something was missing - so I watched some of the OG Trilogy and Loved it (as usual) but then when I watched *ROTS* I gotta admit... its not a Bad Movie at all.. the Story is Pretty Great but the memes made it more entertaining as well so 🤷‍♂️

idk man ROTS feels like an incredible movie once the clones, anakin, the jedi, the chancellor and many more charcaters and aspects are fleshed out in the clone wars. ROTS to me is probably the greatest star wars movie
